Loved that tour. We were good. Playing 2 and a half hour sets. We were all out there in our own ways. I was the worst , doing whatever. We were great musicians when we got back together. The two acoustic albums and Why call it anything. 3 of my favourite albums. We were in auto pilot. Not really thinking about it,just doing it. Great tour. Truly great. We had a Christian crew on one tour and they were praying for us every night as we we naughty boys... They told there boss s vicar( wigwam acoustics) never send us on your with them ever again ,they are all nuts. Yeah we probably was. They do big Billy Graham stadium duff and then went on tour with s load of Lunatics... Funny really. Good days. Xx
I cried like a baby on that comeback tour. Manchester Academy was the greatest night of my life. I was at the Wychwood and Leeds Irish Centre too. I now live with Parkinson's Disease but listen to the Chameleons every day and the pain fades away. Thanks for the music ❤
Dave fielding is one of the greatest guitar players of the post punk era period... the edge and Dave have a very similar style of playing very underrated artist and band...
In my top 3 songs from my fav band. Saw them in 1987. They played this song. I was so pumped to see them I got blasted and don't remember much. Damnit!!
one of my favorite songs by my favorite band ever. they were the soundtrack of most of my life. still are. just caught the sun and the moon in atlanta last November. Magical. never thought i'd see the chams live but was fortunate enough to see them twice in LA on this tour ('02). If this is the stuff dreams are made of....no wonder i feel like i'm floating on air..... corny as it sounds, best moment and memory of my life.
I saw them live many years ago in Brittany and spent one hour with them afterwards, interviewing them for a local radio. They were my favourite group then, so imagine how big it was for me !
Love seeing the song played true to its origins so long after it was originally recorded, not made over into some unrecognizable version for the sake of "art". Mesmerizing rhythm, lyrics that I can't wait to have my children listen to and interpret their own way some day, fantastic.
Thanks for putting this up! I'm a guy in the US that picked up Strange Days back in the 90s on the strength of hearing a live recording of Paper Tigers and absolutely adored the album. It wasn't until the advent of Amazon and such that I was able to explore more of their catalog. It wasn't until THIS VIDEO that I even knew what the dudes looked like!
Soul in isolation I can hear you breathing down the hall Soul in isolation I can hear you whisper through the walls And if I had a mind to now I could call to you Or I could simply shut you out No more, would you cry, cry, cry I give you my time to kill But you'll never never break my will Or I could sink a sleeping pill And in the morning could be sleeping still But most of you are much to ill Oh, way beyond a surgeons skill In bondage to a dollar bill What more can you buy, buy, buy Oh when you think of it, when you think of it We're all souls in isolation Alive in here, I'm alive in here I'm alive in here Oh, when you think of it, when you think of it Try here A word in your ear A word in your ear Back to the trees Back to the trees Back to the trees Big bad giant standing tall Crushing all the creatures great and small I'd like to see this giant fall When will it come? When will it come? Words that rattle round my head Struck by lightning, someone said A diamond bullet in the head Right in the brain Are they right in the brain? Right in the brain Are they right in the brain? Will I see the jailers face? Did my mother lead me to this place? Will I live to see his face? Will another come to take my place? In total isolation Surrounded by fears Too many clowns, too many tears Isolation Surrounded by crowds In another world, head in the clouds I'm alive in here, I scream But you still can't hear I'm alive in here I'm alive, turn on the light Turn on the light Oh, when you think of it, when you think of it We're all souls in isolation Alive in here, I'm alive in here I'm alive in here Oh, when you think of it When you think of it We're all souls in isolation Alive in here I'm alive in here I'm alive in here Oh, when you think of it When you think of it We're all souls in isolation We're always searching for something Searching Dear, dear, dead days I'm lonely
Hello I saw them live back december the 10th in PARIS France where I live. I asked Mark for the setlist at the end of the (magic and unforgettable) performance and he gave it to me..I still have it and can fax it to anyone interested..
Magic version. Sound could have been a little less raw & distorted but how good a version it is cancels that out unless, of course your like me & you like that too! It was nothing if not soulful & that can be raw sounding, which i think music should be. Like i said, "Magic!"
In Peru their music is known as Dark music too, but I am not completely agree with it, It is a quite difficult to say cause there are others songs that we could named as punk music, well.. who knows?. I only want that Mark could play in south america soon!!
hiya, my name's Dená, i'm from Argentina and i've just got across with The Chameleons. I must say they're just great. I'de like to say in addition that in Argentina this music style is known as Dark Music. I wonder if any of you can tell me whether this qualifier is proper or not. Thank you very much, Chau

THE BEST BAND EVER - Music to cry, smile and be joyous to. Love em.
so so so sad tis elite band has not received the recognition it deserves over the years
Extraordinarily evocative songwriting.
This is by far the best live performance of this band
The Chams music just gives me goose bumps and penetrate straight into my soul.....one of the best UK bands in music history period!!
Heard this song the first time on a late night radio broadcast and it has haunted me since.

Quoting "Be My Wife" an "Eleanor Rigby" in the same breath.....fantastic. The poetry still lives with Mark.
I WANT TO CRY...magic moments
Love seeing the song played true to its origins so long after it was originally recorded, not made over into some unrecognizable version for the sake of "art". Mesmerizing rhythm, lyrics that I can't wait to have my children listen to and interpret their own way some day, fantastic.

We still miss The Chameleons so much
A tour via Belgium is a must!!!!
Mark burgess seems to invent, improvise new lines in live perfomances.I see this an advantage.
La onírica de Chameleons es muy buena.
we miss you, Mark! You are the poet lariat for our generation :-)
Soul in isolation
I can hear you breathing down the hall
Soul in isolation
I can hear you whisper through the walls
And if I had a mind to now
I could call to you
Or I could simply shut you out
No more, would you cry, cry, cry
I give you my time to kill
But you'll never never break my will
Or I could sink a sleeping pill
And in the morning could be sleeping still
But most of you are much to ill
Oh, way beyond a surgeons skill
In bondage to a dollar bill
What more can you buy, buy, buy
Oh when you think of it, when you think of it
We're all souls in isolation
Alive in here, I'm alive in here
I'm alive in here
Oh, when you think of it, when you think of it
Try here
A word in your ear
A word in your ear
Back to the trees
Back to the trees
Back to the trees
Big bad giant standing tall
Crushing all the creatures great and small
I'd like to see this giant fall
When will it come?
When will it come?
Words that rattle round my head
Struck by lightning, someone said
A diamond bullet in the head
Right in the brain
Are they right in the brain?
Right in the brain
Are they right in the brain?
Will I see the jailers face?
Did my mother lead me to this place?
Will I live to see his face?
Will another come to take my place?
In total isolation
Surrounded by fears
Too many clowns, too many tears
Isolation
Surrounded by crowds
In another world, head in the clouds
I'm alive in here, I scream
But you still can't hear
I'm alive in here
I'm alive, turn on the light
Turn on the light
Oh, when you think of it, when you think of it
We're all souls in isolation
Alive in here, I'm alive in here
I'm alive in here
Oh, when you think of it
When you think of it
We're all souls in isolation
Alive in here
I'm alive in here
I'm alive in here
Oh, when you think of it
When you think of it
We're all souls in isolation
We're always searching for something
Searching

En ik kwam er net achter dat hun bezoek aan Rotterdam geannuleerd is. Vreselijk!
SUBLIME

Studio version comments turned off by UA-cam. Sad. Let's dig this live instead.
