They don't really stop to think about the consequences of their rules. The rules supposedly come from God and are thus more important than any earthly effect. Questioning whether the rules are actually from God is of course the worst offense of all.
It's fine to have a belief, but when you start forcing it on everyone in your country and killing people because of it, then it becomes a problem. This movie is only a small example of things that really go on in these countries. If you want to make the argument that it's not a religious matter, you're lying to youself. No religion is bad, but the people that follow it can be. Edit: I'm a Christian, and I understand that not all Christians are little angels either, in fact most aren't. I went to an islamic after school program when i was 10-11 and the teacher put this on for us.Not all of us were hijabis and menny of us had one parent that was a convert or not a muslim and THIS SHIT SCARED THE CRAP OUT OF US . I remember our literature class reading the breadwinner freshman year of highschool. It definitely gave us all a brand new perspective of Afghanistan. Most of us had grown up in the early 2000s being taught and shown that "everyone" from there had a personal hatred for us and wanted to kill us. This was one of the first times we were all exposed to the truth, and were all very shocked and saddened at what the average civilian had/ has to go through and how awful and dehumanizing Taliban rule is. I came back and watched it on Netflix when it was released and, although it did skip some of the worse parts. I still think the message got through.
The problem is not this or that religion. The problem is when people use said religion as a way of gaining power over others. The problem is when a few use religion as a way to control others with rules, fear and violence. The problem comes when is no longer a person own beliefs but a theocracy that is impose onto everyone.

They don't really stop to think about the consequences of their rules. The rules supposedly come from God and are thus more important than any earthly effect. Questioning whether the rules are actually from God is of course the worst offense of all.
It's fine to have a belief, but when you start forcing it on everyone in your country and killing people because of it, then it becomes a problem. This movie is only a small example of things that really go on in these countries. If you want to make the argument that it's not a religious matter, you're lying to youself. No religion is bad, but the people that follow it can be.
Edit: I'm a Christian, and I understand that not all Christians are little angels either, in fact most aren't. Christians also killed women back on the day for minor sins or even things that aren't sins, but we eventually grew out of that. It's about time that the men and women of these countries find peace or at least basic human rights no matter what their religion is.

@@tadashiez7138 Yeah, it is only the country that enforces these cruel and dehumanizing laws, not the religion, but the problem is that these countries base their laws on the religion as well and even enforce rules that go past what Islam says. Muslims in America are some of the sweetest people ever, especially if they escaped their previous countries, because they don't hate others for their beliefs or behaviors even if they don't agree.
Edit: Christians and Muslims are very close to each other. I'm a Christian, but I love Muslims even if I don't believe in their religion, it's the same way for them. It's their countries that create such a toxic breeding ground based on the religion, just like Christianity a couple hundred years ago.

I remember our literature class reading the breadwinner freshman year of highschool. It definitely gave us all a brand new perspective of Afghanistan. Most of us had grown up in the early 2000s being taught and shown that "everyone" from there had a personal hatred for us and wanted to kill us.
This was one of the first times we were all exposed to the truth, and were all very shocked and saddened at what the average civilian had/ has to go through and how awful and dehumanizing Taliban rule is.
I came back and watched it on Netflix when it was released and, although it did skip some of the worse parts. I still think the message got through.
The problem is not this or that religion. The problem is when people use said religion as a way of gaining power over others. The problem is when a few use religion as a way to control others with rules, fear and violence. The problem comes when is no longer a person own beliefs but a theocracy that is impose onto everyone.

This reminds me of works depicting Christian cruelty against women, most notably the witch hunt being one of the most notorious example of it, and how they were able to do so for so long. I'm not trying to put down either religion, as it is the people who follows it that twists the words taught to them, but it's just sad for me to see this kind of thing happens time and time again.

It is difficult considering nonsecular governments do not allow for freedom of speech, therefore many grassroots feminist uprisings are shut down with brute force by the brutish governments. Many middle eastern countries do not take kindly to westerners, so actually allowing significant western aid to arrive is never going to happen under the corrupt rule of these governments unless major retaliation were to occur by western countries.
