      Same here! I remember the first time I ever heard them! Whatever i say is royal ocean. I was 18, now I'm 27! Ive grown into an adult with every one of their albums like a soundtrack to each chapter of my life... hard to believe they've been together 10 years, where does the time go.. I'm seeing them this Saturday and I'm so stoked!

      Fantano really gave this a 1/10? I mean I respect him if he's not really about DGD but if you think ANY of their albums are a 1/10, you're on crack.

    • @livecarsonreaction
      @livecarsonreaction 2 роки тому +28

      I get it, but at the same time - why do people care about his reviews so much? Last I checked he wasn't the CEO of music. All it does is put him on an even bigger pedestal, and it's not like DGD are living off ramen noodles after one guy's bad review

    • @GabbertEvergreen
      @GabbertEvergreen 2 роки тому +6

      @@livecarsonreaction I don't really care that much, it was just surprising that he was that harsh on it. But I can see why people care, he's one of the biggest critics on youtube and he has a lot of outreach. Honestly I've seen more of Fantano's content of stuff unrelated to music, than his actual reviews. But that's what most people watch him for. So if he says something absolutely sucks, it actually makes quite a big impact for potential new fans. But at the end of the day there's always gonna be people who don't like what you like. We all have better things to do than defend the honor of our favorite bands on the internet (I hope) but it's important to see that factor of it.

    its really a shame that Will Swan won't be winning the award for best guitarist. He deserves it. It's unfortunate that there are fangirls (hence, PTV's Tony Perry is probably gonna win), otherwise he definitely would've won it. Talented band through and through

    • @brokatarofficial
      @brokatarofficial 9 років тому +15

      TreyDZd DGD has some pretty dedicated fans though, so I'm rooting for him highly. But, out of all honesty, Tony is a good guitarist, so it won't be as disappointing as last years win (Phil Manansala).

    Easily the greatest post-hardcore album I've ever heard... DGD does an incredible job of making themselves stand out in a genre where the majority of bands sound the same! You know, even after all these years despite the fact that I don't listen to this band anymore, I always sorta come back to this album. It was a great time in my life when this came out, I was a senior in high school and everyone in my class had grown up in middle school listening to the Kurt albums from earlier, so it was only fitting that we would have house parties and jam this album right when it dropped. I remember us being pretty wasted for the first time in our lives to this song just screaming at each other in the living room the lines at the end by Jon Mess "I see me riding off" etc. I miss that shit. I miss all my old friends from high school...I'm not friends with any of them anymore. It's sad. But I come back to this album as a reminder of all that I've been through since that time, and how they were good times that I had, and I don't regret them.

      Happiness had funky and upbeat guitars and depressing lyrics with Kurt's vocal melodies piercing through heart like daggers.
      No offense to DGD but the guitars, as well as the vocals, feel more mainstream. That's not to say that this is a bad album, it just feels done before.

      +EpicGabby I'm afraid you're going to have to put on some decent headphones and listen to this album front to back with no distractions. This entire album is overflowing with complexity, especially on the guitars. You can actually hear all the technicality, counterpoint, and all those beautifully subtle overlays they throw in the recordings in the pocket of the mix if you really pay attention. In my opinion this album is a wonderful collection of writing and it was mixed just as wonderfully.

      I agree. The intro is so fucking good. And when it picks up the pace it reminds me of my fav Johnny-era song: "Strawberry Andre". 2:21 hits extremely hard for me bc the lyrics are so heartfelt and the guitars add to the depth/depressed tone of it all.

      +Adam McCann "Touch me, fool me, tame me, make me all about it
      Then I bleed, you scream, shame me, I'll leave, over-dramatic". It almost sounds like a scene straight out of American Psycho, I don't know, I just love his low-key articulation in this part!

      Most dgd songs are nonsense. Jon Mess is the lyricist of the band I think, and he's said he just write lyrics that sound good and flow, no other purpose in mind. But that doesn't mean you can't have your own interpretation as long as it's makes sense for the most part.

    • @micahtyler5717
      @micahtyler5717 6 років тому +8

      THE TRASHMAN thats not exactly true, yes some of it is nonsense (like in midnight crusade with the lyric "im kissing a baby that lickin a boot") but a lot of it is also metaphorical.

    • @jondoe1916
      @jondoe1916 5 років тому

      THE TRASHMAN That’s only partially true. The songs have meaning, Jon’s parts in the song usually don’t. They mean stuff to him but not the listeners.

    • @RageQuitRQ

      but why would you choose the visual effect of a mouse spazzing...Rage Quit

    • @RageQuitRQ

      @tenshi1648 8 років тому

      Rage Quit
      Keep pausing it, there's definitely a mouse there. I thought it was just an effect too until I saw the mouse. If you see a circle you've probably got it mid movement.

      Same I get Hail The Sun vibes too lol. Especially on the slow bits (which is probs why i vibe to them). Hail The Sun has a very unique sound on their slow tracks. This song reminds me of "Dead Messages" and "Culture Scars era" songs. DGD adds that fast-pacedness to it and I love songs that are tempo-rollercoasters
