In this video, Patrick Adair Designs the one ring to rule them all. Inspired by the popular movie franchise Lord of the Rings Patrick casts a solid gold ring. The process starts by machining a copy of the ring out of wax on a lathe. The wax is then used to create a plaster mold that is cured in a furnace. Patrick then melts gold and pours it into the mold. This makes a solid gold ring. I then laser engrave the ring with gibberish from an open-source font available on the internet. The last step is filling the ring with glow poder to make a glow ring. Making the one ring to rule them all was one of the most fun and requested projects on this channel.

I have 2!! One is 14k and a size 10, the other is 18k and a size 11. They glow that beautiful orange in black light, and a black light on a key chain came with it. I'm actually looking to sell the 14k size 10. They are truly beautiful and have a nice heavy weight to them. Somebody from Canada made them for me. It truly is beautiful! @@nirvanajew1 the ring itself was designed by a ring maker in New Zealand, the copyright would have to do with the design of the ring, not the story itself. And I THINK that they can legally state "The One Ring" as theirs.

The problem being that I do not have the proper equipment nor the experience required to make one of these beauties.

Except that is not quite what he's written. It's more like "Ash nazg xzkyglqtx, ash nazg qlwtguxqz" repeated twice over.
It seems that the tincotema and parmatema has been switched, since it says "ash mazg" instead of "ash nazg". If I managed to interpret it correctly it says: "ash mazg bur bapzgh, ash mazg gabapz" twice, which is a shame, because ulûk is one of the most beautiful character combinations.

The sheer amount of work put into this is incredible.
Many years ago I had the opportunity to work with a goldsmith and help him with lost wax castings, making and cutting rubber molds, using a wax pen which was more like a slotted spoon back in those days. Anyway, this video took me back almost 30 years because much of what you are doing here is the same with the investment and setting up the casting with the wax and sprues. My guy used a kind of home-made centrifuge method for pouring wax though. It was a large trash can with large rubber bands that he wound up and then poured the gold and let it spin. (Sorry to run on lol) Thank you for the walk down memory lane! My daughter and husband found your site and have gifted me a pick of one of your rings for my birthday, so we got on UA-cam to see your videos. I love the ones I’ve watched! But this one is just so much fun! And it turned out beautifully!!!! I hope to be working with you soon!
Glad you’ve invested in casting. It was a logical step, and it’ll be neat to see what you do with it. You don’t really see many jewelers doing cool new things like you do.

It's pretty much just gibberish. He's not spelled it correctly. The "one ring" part is OK, but the rest is just random letters.
@@egodreas Yepp... literally gibberish. A real shame. It would not have required much more effort to engrave the original writings. It is in every Lord of the rings book. If he needs vector graphics for the laser cutter, I could have done it for him in a day. It practically ruins an otherwise amazing art-piece.
@@BaldemnicSW Perhaps... But that is not necesery. Based on this logic, anybody who uses the Feanorian runes shall be sued. If it would be a jewel designed for the movies what he perfectly duplicated, that would be a bummer. This is a plain ring with text. He already used the glowing Feanorian runes, and the design is similar. It would have made no real difference from legal pont of view if the text is correct. He did not put text on the inner surface, and he used different text size, so only a fraction ot the poem would fit anyway. The franchise does not offer and never offered a glowing One Ring, and he cannot flood the market with his, creating a huge profit, so no bussiness conflict there. It is actually free marketing, nothing more.

Nice! Master level skills you´ve got! A little jealous of the variety of tools you posses :) It is so nice that people still make jewelry, tools, instruments etc. by hand. So sick of the factory manufactured-easy to brake-dont repair by a new one-stuff. It is so satisfying to fix a broken drill for example and even more so to see hand made quality things. The One Ring would have been hand engraved in perfect and mastered technique but laser engraving is pretty close. Also the one had the matching inscription on the inside band which would have doubled the difficulty to engrave by hand. Sauron learned the art of ring lore through countless years of study and enhanced by his Maiar status and ability to imbue his lifeforce into his creations so his technique may be unmatched in history.
Hmm I think it would most likely be made by magic, like pure malice making the writing or something

should be at lest 2000+ USD due to the material and potential copyright agreement paper to be done.
Go to your local jeweler. They can make you one, it will probably cost about $1000 but I'm not sure if they will agree to engrave a script that might be copyrighted
BenL They might not be able to sell, LOTR engraved One Ring. They might be able to sell, custom engraving, and do that script at your request. It’s a similar to the loophole that allowed the straight wedding cake guy to get away with it. He didn’t say he wouldn’t sell you a cake, he just said he wouldn’t be taking a commission to make a custom cake with two dudes on top.
