That haircut is fire❤🔥 Very chic and sophisticated. I think short hair takes 10 years off of most of us. I had long hair all my life but got the most compliments when I cut it all off many years ago in a similar style. Just beautiful!
I totally agree because I felt I just looked a little more chic when I cut it. So I’m glad to hear someone else say it too. 🥰 Also, thank you for the reinforcement and compliment. It’s truly appreciated and especially right now! 🙏🏽💖😘
Aww thank you so very much! Also, thank you for being such a kind person to me in the comments. It’s hasn’t gone unnoticed Luv and I truly appreciate you for it‼️♥️💯😘
@shelly.v.247 There is SO much negative energy online already and I refuse to contribute to it! I was taught growing up that if you don't have anything nice or positive to say, don't say anything at all! In your case, you have done nothing but share your natural hair journey with us (which you most certainly don't have to do), why would ppl have negative things to say?? But ofc they do smh...
Short hair is sexy and it’s so you. I cut mine because I missed my pixie cut. My first was in 2020 and I missed the freedom and ease. Which ever you choose will be beautiful ❤️🙌🏾
Yes, I’m loving the sassiness of the short hair! It’s like a whole new experience. Girl, I know your hair is super fly since you cut it! I can’t wait to see more content from you on how you are rocking it! 😍
I love the short cut it suits you so much. I blow-dry my hair every week and it's absolutely fine. It's improper use of heat that cause damage. I think you should keep it short for a little while then see how you feel and what you want to do next.
I cut my hair because of severe damage from color back in college. After the shock I leaned in and rocked it. Hair grew back. I went on to cut it twice more for fun. Each time it grew back. You look beautiful and you’re amazing!!!
Not the “thermal rearrangement “ 🤣🤣🤣 Shelly this cut is gorgeous . Short hair can be addictive , every time I try to grow it out I never get past bob length cause I’m ready to go back short . I’ll be here supporting whatever journey you choose ❤❤❤
Haha 🤣 I don’t think she’ll ever live that one down as well as several other sayings! 🤣🤣🤣 Yeah I can certainly understand that because this short hair is so amazing with how easy it is to do! It’s definitely going to make it hard to wanting to go back to dealing with a head full of long hair. 😅
Thank you so very much and that is an excellent suggestion! I actually purchased some rollers to see if I can do one on my hair this short. If I’m able to do it, I will definitely do a video showcasing it. Thank you again for the suggestion and stay blessed Sis! 💖🤗😘
Your hair looks great! I am loving your journey. Just keep true to yourself and trust your instincts over all else even the professionals who you have consulted with remember although helpful they have an agenda. It’s human nature. 🙏🏽❤️
I’m sitting here watching this video and shaking my head the entire time and laughing at your goofy butt😂😂😂. I’m grateful I met my curly besties through this forum as well ❤❤
I would say enjoy the short cut for as long as you want! When you grow your hair out, it’s unlikely you’ll want to cut it so enjoy your hair now that it is shorter! You could also do finger coils as another curly option.
I totally agree with your thoughts! It’s exactly how I’ve been thinking about it too because I know once I grow it out the chances of me cutting it really short again will be slim. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. I truly appreciate it! 💖🤗😘

Your hair is cute! All of the cuts the last few months were flattering in you! I have learned from your experience and I too am experimenting with straight styles. Looking forward to your future videos!!
Thank you so very much! I’m having fun experimenting with different styles, etc.. My goal moving forward is just to have healthy and happy hair!😁 I’m glad to hear you are exploring different ways to wear your hair! 💖🥳
Chile, you know they got all of us on high alert over here 👀🤣 Shoot because some done recommended shampoos that have played a game of “snatch & grab” a hoes lipid layer off her strands! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 So I’m not trying to give them another opportunity to jack me up! Plus my room for error is at 3-4 inches now so………👀🤷🏽♀️🤣
All hair lengths look great on you ❤ Do whatever makes you happy! And don’t let the wash and gos scare you… you now know what to do to keep your hair happy and healthy!
Thank you so very much for saying that Sis! 💖 It’s definitely something that I need to constantly remind myself about be I know I’m just traumatized by my experience. 😝 I pray to one day be released from that fear!🙏🏽

Love it❣️Back in the day (a lot of days ago😂), every 2 or 3 years I would go from bra strap length hair to your exact hair cut. The cut suits you, gorgeous!
Haha you just made me crack up! 🤣. Yeah it’s so nice to be able to go back and forth with lengths and styles. My goal is to just enjoy my hair now and go wherever the winds blows me with it. 🥰🥳
I have had the same haircut about 10 years ago and I loved it and I especially love it on you. You have a beautiful head of hair and all of your hairstyles have looked good on you! Enjoy the new hairstyle!
Thank you beautiful and thank you so very much for standing up for Rosie in her comment section on her last video. It’s crazy how some people act behind a computer screen! You are a real one! Much love and respect! 🫶🏽😘
Shelly I love you hair. It is good when you can rock long or short hair. I cut my hair recently, l am thinking about cutting it shorter because I still see dead ends. I do not know if I’m going back to the wash and go curly routine anymore because it seems it is breaking my hair out more. I don’t know maybe I’m just not using the products,😂 but what I do know when my hair is straight I see less hair fall. Thank you for your video. You have inspired me to do what I am contemplating on doing. Also love your sense of humor keep making us laugh.❤
Yeah Sis, these wash and go’s got your girl a little nervous! 😬 I’m rocking one right now and it seems good. I really think it was just the BGC method that had my hair screaming for dear life! Rip to many of those poor strands that didn’t make it through the storm! 👀🤣 On a serious note, I’m no longer going to feel pressed about feeling like I have to exclusively wear any one style. Those days are over honey! 🥳 I say enjoy your hair and do whatever you feel is best and the healthiest for your hair. We got this! 👊🏽💖💯

@zarisundiata7744 Aww thank you for giving me grace in that Sis! Also, I agree with you and I’m just going to enjoy where I’m at with my hair now and go with it. I’m sure at some point it’ll come to me what I want to do with it. 💖

"You're a lie and the truth ain't in you!"😂 Your phrases are hilarious. Your hair looks beautiful. I had my hair cut in a similar cut 2 years ago and I let my hairstylist do it. I tried one time to do it when it was short and realized I couldn't do it. lol Have fun with your hair!
Beautiful cut on you❤ yup enjoy your hair..we go thru so many uncertainties about our hair and depend on what others say...DO WhAT FEELS GOOD TO YOU! Mine Is butt length and natural and I wanna cut it to my shoulders and everyone is telling me NO..but I feel more confident with it shorter!I think imma follow my own advice and go short BECAUSE I SAID SO..HA SO SHELLY V DO YOU CAUSE YOUR GORGEOUS
Your hair is gorgeous. You're a versatile natural🙂. I've been chopping a little at a time, but I'm considering a big chop. These arthritic fingers are getting tired of styling my hair😇. I don't use hot tools. That's a throwback from my younger years. I don't want anyone near my ears, neck or scalp with a hot tool. I occasionally do roller or flexi rod sets.
Them hot tools can definitely get you! Lol 😂 The ones I use now aren’t like the old school ones so I’m not getting jacked up when I straighten my hair. Lol 😆 Also thank you for the lovely compliment 🥰🤗
Shelly!!!😂😂how can I be serious when you got me rolling over here (inserts) once again I am screaming 🤣🤣 Your hair looks amazing sis; I love it either way curly or straight…continue to do what’s best for your hair. Thanks for sharing (love video)!😊
I love your style Shelly❤❤❤. You have me thinking maybe I should go straight 😊. My wash n go gets dry so quick I might try going straight for a break and change up. Great words of wisdom!!
Thank you beautiful! 💖 I honestly think that you should fully enjoy all the versatility that your hair has to offer. However, just do it in a very responsible way. For example, if you straighten it, make sure it’s well hydrated prior to doing so and that you use a heat, protectant, etc. Common sense stuff that I know you already know but it’s always a good reminder for us all. 😁 Lastly, my advice is to not feel pressured to wear your hair exclusively one way. It’s okay to explore your options and wear your hair in something other than a wash and go. Like right this very minute my hair is in a wash and go and I’m loving it! Next week I might want to silk press it again or try to roller set it. The sky is the limit and in 2024 we are breaking the free from all the stupid rules that were imposed on us‼️💯 Happy Hair Days to you Sis! 💖🥳
@@shelly.v.247 Thanks so much Shelly! That is great advice that I will def follow❤! During and after the pandemic my hair really suffered due to neglect, etc. This year I am being so intentional abt healthy hair and growth by just loving the hair on my head. Your words and the way you are embracing your hair, even after what would have destroyed most of us, is so refreshing and inspiring that I am encouraged to keep going and live my best life on my healthy hair growth journey. Thank you for always sharing to help us struggling ladies. Its so appreciated.🤗
I love that hairstyle on you. It looks good straight and curly. Really NICE ✂️. Your stylist did a very good job. Oh and by the way, we are in the same state. Do you use a soft water pump in your house?
It’s Amazing that throughout your challenges, you’ve been able to keep your sense of humor; I love it❣️ Your hair is Gorgeous Shelly rather its long, short, curly, or straight. I’m in Total agreement with you on having Healthy hair & being able to be versatile with your styles as to how you may want to wear it at times in your life. Q. Are you still getting semi color or rinse & if so which brand are you using? How long does it last before you get another one? I use to use Dudley a few years ago, but haven’t had one since doing wash and gos.
Thank you, beautiful, and I couldn’t agree more with you!💖 Girl, my sense of humor is seriously what I have clung to because if you don’t laugh, you will end up crying that ugly cry and don’t nobody want to see that! Lol👀🤣 To answer your questions, I am no longer using the color rinses (aka Demi permanent color) in my hair. The reason why is because now that I’ve cut my hair so short, I no longer see the color change that took place from the damage. My hair is back to being very dark on its own now. However, when I was using it, it would last a little over a month. What I realized is it says it lasts for about 28 washes but that includes every shampoo you do in your hair. So on wash day if you wash your hair twice that gets calculated in. I also ended up using a clarifying shampoo which completely seem to remove all the color. So watch out for that as well.😅 Lastly, if I were to use another one I would use the Wella brand because I’ve heard it’s one of the best! Please lmk if I answered everything or if you have additional questions. 💖
As long as you maintain a good protein moisture balance deep condition and moisture routine and keep up with your trims whatever you decide to do with your hair will be just fine.
I followed the same no oils/butters journey - and have to tell you - I changed my shampoo and condition regimen. Redkin soft shampooing - shea moisture deep conditioner- and OMG - my hair is recovering. I’ll clarify once a month - but hun it’s laying down the frizz. I have not flat ironed my hair - but my hair is so sassy to detangle. I’m also going twice a week and have less tangles.
Girl, I’m so glad you are listening to your hair and making the right changes for it. I’m also very happy to hear that it’s bouncing back so hopefully you don’t have to cut it like I did.🙌🏽💖 Continue to listen to it and don’t be afraid to add in stuff that will hold the moisture in your hair longer like a little oil. I’ve learned it’s not the devil like they had us believing! 😆
Your haircut is beautiful. You look so GOODT!!!🥰🤗😊 . I know you have been frustrated with the splits! Light trimming should get rid of the residual splits on your ends.
Shelly, I have a question for you: Do you think that the EXTENSIVE DAMAGE to your hair was more attributable to your Curly Cuts OR because you didn’t use Oils and Butters for an extended period of time OR you can’t say because it just might be the combination? The AfrikanHairGod featured a client who had gotten Curly Cuts but she continued to use oil and butter products like had done so before getting the Curly Cuts and she didn’t experience any split ends, just some unevenness caused by the Curly Cuts.
Such an awesome question and I’m going to make a video about this very question soon! However, let me attempt to answer it but I’ll dive into more detail in my video. I personally believe that they both played off each other. I think the no oils and butters method did the biggest part of the damage though. From the harsh shampoos to the lack of deep conditioner, leave-in and products that don’t contain oils & butters within the first 5 ingredients. To using hard hold gels and baking them into the hair for very long periods of time! Next you add a curly cut in and for me it became the perfect storm. I also think the act of cutting the hair curly doesn’t cause split ends to occur. Where I think the cumulative damage from curly cuts happen is that many of the split ends already existing are not getting properly addressed. So over time it becomes an issue because they start to build up. I also, believe curly cuts thin out the ends over time too and therefore make them more susceptible to eventually becoming split. What I did notice about the AHG’s client who got curly cuts but continued to use oils etc and didn’t have any damage is that her hair was on the looser end of the spectrum. So maybe the tightness of the curl pattern plays a role? Now put both together in a person who has tight curly, kinky coily hair and Chile I believe you have yourself the perfect storm!!! Hope that makes sense and thank you for asking such a great question! 💖
Maybe one day but I’m going to wait until there’s conclusive proof that it actually works and it just ain’t up in there cutting mess randomly 👀🫣🤣 I appreciate the suggestion because it’s a great one! 💖🥰
Awesome questions! Yes my original texture came back after this last cut! 🥳 Also, great question about my hair color. This is my natural hair color without any hair dye. As you can see I no longer have any discoloration in my hair and my dark hair is back too! 🥳
During your hair damage time were you going to a different stylist or was it your bestie-stylist or doing it at home? I love the look, I wish my hair would lay with ease, (I always have some curl in my hair even when I had a perm ) I love your short hair wear it for 6 months, grow out for the next 6 months and see . I’ll be watching either way!😜
Great question! 🥰 When my hair got damaged, I had worked with two different CIK (Cut It Kinky) stylist. They both were trained by CIK and followed the BGC (Black Girl Curls) hair care methodology. If you are not familiar with it, it’s the no oils and butters method, but also known as the 30 day detox. What is interesting to me is that neither stylist noticed anything was wrong with my hair. They both gave me an A+ in terms of my hairs health and how well I was taking care of it. After following the method, and realizing my hair was damaged, I went back to my old stylist. Luckily, she took me back with open arms!🙌🏽 I am prayerful that I no one else will have to go through this because it’s been a complete nightmare! However, I know that’s wishful thinking because gurlllllll there are so many going through it too now! 😝 Thank you for the question and stay blessed. 💖😘

Lol 😆
Also thank you for the lovely compliment 🥰🤗
🤣🤣 Fun Shade!!! Fun Shade!! One day, you will see someone and be like 'i want that' Until then, enjoy it. It looks SUPER GOOD🔥
🤣🤣🤣 I couldn’t help myself! lol
So true! I’m just going to go with the flow 💖🥳
Shelly!!!😂😂how can I be serious when you got me rolling over here (inserts) once again I am screaming 🤣🤣
Your hair looks amazing sis; I love it either way curly or straight…continue to do what’s best for your hair. Thanks for sharing (love video)!😊
Haha girl I’m so glad you enjoy my ole goofy humor! 👀🤣
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and for always being so kind! You're the best! 💖🤗😘
Lastly, my advice is to not feel pressured to wear your hair exclusively one way. It’s okay to explore your options and wear your hair in something other than a wash and go.
Like right this very minute my hair is in a wash and go and I’m loving it! Next week I might want to silk press it again or try to roller set it. The sky is the limit and in 2024 we are breaking the free from all the stupid rules that were imposed on us‼️💯
Happy Hair Days to you Sis!
Aww thank you! Girl you know I got a soft water loop out in this desert 🌵 👀🤣
❤❤❤❤ the short hair on you! I also liked it long too!😂😂😂😂
Yay! Thank you! 🥰I love both lengths too that’s why it’s so hard to decide between the two! 😅
Thank you, beautiful, and I couldn’t agree more with you!💖
Girl, my sense of humor is seriously what I have clung to because if you don’t laugh, you will end up crying that ugly cry and don’t nobody want to see that! Lol👀🤣
To answer your questions, I am no longer using the color rinses (aka Demi permanent color) in my hair.
So watch out for that as well.😅
Lastly, if I were to use another one I would use the Wella brand because I’ve heard it’s one of the best!
Please lmk if I answered everything or if you have additional questions. 💖
Thank you kindly for your detailed response. What you’re saying makes sense.
As long as you maintain a good protein moisture balance deep condition and moisture routine and keep up with your trims whatever you decide to do with your hair will be just fine.
Very true and I appreciate you taking the time to remind us all of that! Thank you so very much Luv! 💖🤗
I’m also very happy to hear that it’s bouncing back so hopefully you don’t have to cut it like I did.🙌🏽💖
Continue to listen to it and don’t be afraid to add in stuff that will hold the moisture in your hair longer like a little oil. I’ve learned it’s not the devil like they had us believing! 😆
Your haircut is beautiful. You look so GOODT!!!🥰🤗😊 . I know you have been frustrated with the splits! Light trimming should get rid of the residual splits on your ends.
Thanks for the advice and yes indeed! My frustration level is at its peak Sis! One more cut and imma be using a sponge brush! 👀🤣
Gorgeous. I love short hairstyles
Me too and I didn’t think I would! 😍🥳
Thank you so very much too! 🥰😘
Your hair is gorgeous! 😃 I love it!
Thank you so much!!💖🤗😘
I love it short!!!
Thank you! 💖😘
Shelly, I have a question for you:
Do you think that the EXTENSIVE DAMAGE to your hair was more attributable to your Curly Cuts OR because you didn’t use Oils and Butters for an extended period of time OR you can’t say because it just might be the combination?
Oh Wow, thank you for taking the time to provide such a thoughtful IN DEPTH response. It is very much appreciated!👍🏽😊
That's a nice cut.
Thank you so much! 🥰
Have you ever considered getting a split ender pro? Instead of going shorter and shorter, I mean.
Love your channel, sis
What is a split ended pro
Maybe one day but I’m going to wait until there’s conclusive proof that it actually works and it just ain’t up in there cutting mess randomly 👀🫣🤣
I appreciate the suggestion because it’s a great one! 💖🥰
It is very pretty!
💖
Stunning! 💕
Thank you Luv! 💖🤗
Did your original texture come back after the hair cut? Also, did you dye your hair black or is that your natural color?
Awesome questions! Yes my original texture came back after this last cut! 🥳
Also, great question about my hair color. This is my natural hair color without any hair dye. As you can see I no longer have any discoloration in my hair and my dark hair is back too! 🥳
It's gorgeous
💖🤗
Simply gorgeous …
Thank you! 💖🤗
Luckily, she took me back with open arms!🙌🏽
I am prayerful that I no one else will have to go through this because it’s been a complete nightmare! However, I know that’s wishful thinking because gurlllllll there are so many going through it too now! 😝
Thank you for the question and stay blessed. 💖😘
Love the cut? I would love to see it in its curly state.
Thank you Luv! 🥰 I’m wearing it curly now and it’s posted on my Instagram page 💖🤗
