    What l love about your walks is the fact you can see beauty in the things most of us rush past without appreciating our surroundings Thank you

      A symptom of modern life! It takes us a while to film everything because we see so much! Sarah :)

      Yes, it made our walk around the town this week, so much more interesting. It is so easy to rush past these landmarks without knowing anything about them.

    We end up in Wadebridge last September after trying to visit Padstow but not being able to get a parking space, It was a really rainy day and I was a bit grumpy as it was lunch time. We didn't know the town at all and had no idea where to get some nice lunch but stumbled across a place called Mad Hatters! I can highly recommend it, the owner was charming and very passionate about his business and very proud of his homemade food and rightly so it was delicious. When I visit Cornwall again in July (fingers crossed) I shall do this walk with with a combined visit to Mad Hatters. Sounds like a perfect day.

    Thank you for the reminder on Facebook. It was very nice to watch this video again. And now I noticed the remark about Anneka's Bridge. Anneka Rice must be a lovely person. She also helped building a new quay on the island Bryher, one of the inhabited islands in the Isles of Scilly. I have myself taken a boat from there. It is - not surprisingly - called Anneka's Quay :-)

    Wadebridge is obviously much larger than I knew. Lovely area. Inger and I bicycled from Padstow to Bodmin Jail and back in 2018. We stopped for a little stroll in Wadebridge and we liked it a lot. But now you have shown much more. Thank you 😊 There was a sign on a wall saying "British by birth, Cornish by the grace of God" 👍😊

      We saw the same sign, in one of the cycle hire shops I think! Good sign!! Sarah :)

    Beautiful Wadebridge,, I agree with you this is a thriving town that has not lost any of its charm. When you think the old bridge was built over 600years ago and then would have only been used for a horse and cart and we are still using it today. I love the fact that the town is full of independent shops and a brilliant Antique shop which was use in a programme of Drew Pritchard (Freeview 12 quest). I also agree when you said in your conclusion “what is there not to like?”. Visit Wadebridge when you are next in Cornwall & you won’t be disappointed I am sure. Well done, most enjoyable and well worth a watch.

    Borrowed a tablet to hear this one!! So much nicer with sound!! The thing about Anneka is that she doesn't look any different really from when she was set her challenge! Eternal youth. As someone else has mentioned below, John B is buried at St. Enodoc's...the one with the wobby spire. So lovely there. Have been to Wadebridge quite a lot in the past when staying at St. Minver....but this showed parts I have not ventured into...so interesting to see the old railway station. Lovely. J x

    Чудесный городок Уэйдбридж. Уютный и чистенький с живописной речкой. И мост через реку просто великолепен. А пирожок, наверное, был очень вкусный!

    Have driven over the new road bridge a lot and always look up river to the town, but have never visited there. Sir John Betjeman is layed to rest at nearby St Enodoc Church. Thats a nice walk around there too.

      We came across his grave stone when we explored Daymer Bay to Rock, passing through the golf course and the Church. Lovely old church with a wonky tower! Sarah :)

    Lovely informative historic walk, but I wish they could divert some of the heavy haulage traffic away from the town centre and, please local Council, only grant planning consent on developments in traditional local stone and complementary vernacular styles (that's my grumble over!) x

    • @CornishWalkingTrails
      @CornishWalkingTrails  4 роки тому

      I empathise! When I see developers knocking down a perfectly usable house from the 20th century and replace it with 2, usually 'Grand Designs' style properties, I feel a tinge of sadness - we're losing the ability to read the historical development of some of our villages in Cornwall! Sarah :)

      Haulage traffic must be delivering in town centre, not much can be done about that.
