It’s 19 years old Shreya Ghoshal, so of course she sounds bit different. This song came in the year 2005. This young Shreya was already a National award winning singer.
That's just an excuse, if you listen to the song "koi tumsa nahin" from the same album, her voice sounds normal. I think the music director told her to sing in high pitch specially for this song (pyaar ki ek kahani).
'Koi tumsa nehi' is the best song from Krish .. it's the best ❤️

Nahhh the song wouldn't be the same without shreya. We LOVE high pitch in india and Pakistan. It really gets us in the feels lol. It's also kinda cultural for females to have very feminine high pitched voices when singing a romantic song. Although I do kinda agree with you about tulsi kumar. Sometimes her voice can be a bit too much

Ah.. I do understand what you are saying..No offence taken..There are times when choices differ and we are use to high pitches but in this song indeed there were some points where that pitch felt quite piercing..
Honestly first time noticing it, maybe because listening it for the first time without video so whole concentration is on the song.. And if it's like this for someone with zero knowledge of music like me then I can understand why it would bother you who understand every pitch, tone and other techicalities..
And even I feel same when it comes to tulsi kumar..I m use to high pitches and no issues with them but her's feel too piercing for my taste..
