- Series Overview:
Star Trek: Federation One Season 1 consists of two filmed episodes focusing on the President of the United Federation of Planets and their entourage aboard the Federation's diplomatic flagship, Federation One. Operation Beta Shield served as a prelude episode to this series setting up some of the cast and situations that follow.
Episode Overview:
The investigation continues into Se'Fron's death (Operation Beta Shield) and McCabe suspects everyone. Section 31, President Vindenpawl and the Romulans are all under suspicion.
The return of the Archien complicate matters as the tension heats up in the highest office in the Federation.
Never commented on a Star Trek fan film before. This is good. I enjoyed it. Thank you.
I'm two minutes in and loving it so far.
Love anything Star Trek or any thing related Star Wars Babaylon 5 !They all are fantastic.
I for one would like to say...well done. A lot of work went into this, you can tell. As a fellow movie/video maker and Star Trek enthusiast, I could dissect it and say that some things could be better, however I choose to celebrate the fact that this many people got together to do this project so well. Congratulations. I like it. I look forward to see more from you.
You guys did a great job of telling this story!!!! Awesome job!!!
Just a thank you I'm sort of on my last legs and its nice to watch good cast
Wonderful start. Please keep up all the good work. You have a dedicated fan in me! Live long and prosper.
I am about 7 minutes in at the moment, and I have to say, this is actually quite impressive. Well done, I can't wait to see more.
Well, wait until you see more, when the petty, insipid, pubescent dialog starts. Every scene between McCabe and Mara Onshul are so childish and pedestrian. It's like watching an episode of "Friends" in outer space. I'm interested in you, but won't show it...you're interested in me, but I'll duck and skirt and feign no interest until I'm ready. You'll keep pursuing and I'll keep evading...childish. Unless you're fascinated and entertained by this type of junior high school dialog, it's too much to take.
Outside of that it's good enough. If they cut out every McCabe-Mara scene the story holds better. Guess writers want you to "relate" to the characters between chase scenes and photon torpedo bursts, but only know how to write boys chase girl, girl evades...girl shows interest, guy obfuscate private moment scripts!
I wish they just stay focus on content off script and plot without the cheesy "romance" that they believe every private moment scene demands! But overall pretty good. I just skip past those scenes.
You took it right up to Paramount's limit time wise. and that score my God Mr. Chan Have you ever seen Voyager? Yeah I think so!
This was great! It kept me glued to the screen the entire time! Very pleased!
Now this is a real plot ! It is worthy to stand with any and above most official releases.
Where are the others...
Really enjoyed this!
More please!
Better than most of the Star Trek fan stuff I've seen today. Looking for more of your work.
Holey moley this has one heck of a compelling story. Awesome job!
I’ve been waiting for this since I finished Odyssey and Helena Chronicles 5 years ago. Finally found it
Remember that this is a Hidden Frontier spinoff show!
Thank you for making this Lilmanjs116.
Best one I have watch. You should put it on TV . It better than the newest one being shown on TV. Better. actors and acting. Great show
Great episode! Thanks for posting this
I've watched a bunch of the fan series....some are great, some are not. I totally enjoyed this.
Garak approved of this series!
_"Only on Romulus? Pity."_ Wow! That was a very old Red Rose Tea reference... I'm impressed! ;-]
Very well done! Nearly motion picture quality. Nice sets, ships, and for the most part acting, with the exception of slight overacting by Federation/Earth Pres. and McCabe. Looking forward to more. Here's the best compliment you will get: Almost as good as ST Continues.
Netflix is desperately searching for original content and yet they're completely oblivious to the niche of an undeveloped star trek series.
Netflix can't just run a ST series. They don't own it.
CBS would sue their ass off! Why do you think there are no more ST fan series being made? CBS owns exclusive US rights and has a big staff of agressive lawyers.
i hate to say it, but axanar saw to the end of fan based stuff (even though they didn't mean to do so)...netflix won't touch anything trek, and are scared white over the very whisper let alone lawsuits from the cbsparamount suit-types. us fans are alone in the trek-world. until the strangle-hold ends by cbsparamount (which isn't going to happen any time in the very near future) we have to survive in the jj abrams tripe, live with bad productions and their inherent limitations, or hope for the best.
Netflix is hardly "desperately" seeking original content. They produce more than most Hollywood studios already.
@@Netrangerrr lol, just change name to Interstellar Quest or something... cant copyright a genre
I like how all the people are larger than the consoles, the doors, the walls. 😂
Well DONE.
When the ship was attacked in the beginning, the captain barely shook at all, but the guy on tactical did his part and threw himself and shook accordingly.
That scene was a nightmare, so inconsistancies can still be alright. Dreams have tendancies to be flawed in their logic.
Unity, Union, UnitED are all expressions of ONE. AnyONE whom does not understand or comprehend this is not fit for an AP-POINT-MEN-TT as an ARCH-ANGEL.
Some of the following may seem insulting, please, read the whole thing.
Several years ago I happened to run across Star Trek The New Voyages ( AKA Phase II today) Come What May. Freaking loved it. No other eps were available at the time, so I went looking, and found Hidden Frontier.
HF was somewhere around season 5 maybe(?) so I was looking forward to some good stuff.
I couldn't get past halfway through season 2. I've heard some people say that it seriously improved after season 3. I couldn't bring myself to try. I watch Trek for the eye candy, and the jarring close shots and bad greenscreening in the beginning just pushed my frustration button too much.
I found Operation Beta Shield a couple of days ago, and just got done watching it about 2 hours ago. I cringed when I realized it was the HF crew, but I gave it a chance. I just finished watching this one.
I hereby offer my sincere Kudos to the cast and crew. Everything about this new series is light years ahead of HF: TEY. The CGI is vastly improved, the Greenscreening, though not perfect, has gotten pretty good for a non professional crew, both the scripting and the acting no longer seem stilted and under-rehearsed, and the Make Up has improved ten fold.
Holding off on 1:02 until tomorrow. Looking forward to it.
Watch the rest of HF. It gets better and better, both in technique and story. Or don't.
Some comments were way to hard on you brother.I thought it was a good effort!Keep it moving!well done!!!😎
This is stellar stuff!
This is fantastic. I've watched a number of fan productions but this one... the writing and acting are great. The plot has subtle complexities. Keep going.
I wish the resolution was higher, but it was nice to see something that didn't take place in the TOS era. I enjoyed the story and like how it stems off of ST Nemesis.
Star Trek: The next unshielded vessel, coming to a youtube near you!
my people are enjoying your star trek fan movies
I'm liking the story. Good job.
This is actually well done....
1:53 Wesley Crusher gets a shout out "Fire at Wil" (weaton)
Reminds me of my time in the army we were at the firing range ordered to line up and when given the word to fire at will...one guy stood up and started sprinting away...the captain asked who that coward was....the Sargent answered that was “private Will Sir”
Finally, Star Fleet sees Will (Wheaton’s) character like the fans do.
cheezy but that is wat makes it so great it haz somthing that most fan films seem to lack
derpy twerp game hei yt Girl å
I LOOOOOOOOOOOOVE this show.
Haven't watched it all, but so far, it's a LOT better than the Potemkin project! :D
+WillyPete13 Indeed.
Yes
Pretty damn good. Kept me engaged. Enjoyed it!
I think this is well done. Good Srory too
Star Trek Federation One sounds like a bank lol. Star Trek Federation One for all your space banking needs
wonderful!
release in 720 or 1080 quality...
A valiant attempt at this enterprise. However I'm defiant in my preference to the Paramount series, which I klingon to.
Ok.
I could almost kinda see our Star trek group in New Orleans doing this.
So; New Orleans eh are yoy guts getting that tax break for production costs? Wasn' that already a deductible expens? I don't get it. What more can the tax payers pay for?
it looks like your os is no longer supported on this device
What this is missing is a scene where the Vice President quotes regulations that the Head of State does not go on away missions.
Hidden Frontier really needs a revival. Though, not sure how it'd work with the new trek film restrictions implemented a couple years back...
You should follow them on facebook. They've had some interesting developments in the past couple of years!
I appreciate the hard work put into this. Nice job. A little dry though. Lots of flat angle scenes of two people chatting. Needs some variety.
Good job
Very impressive
MORE!!!!!
After Piccard nothing has matched so far😩
Very well done Which there were more episodes!
On the plus side this is so bad that Paramount and Viacom won't care to shut it down.
Me gusta Star Trek , donde los protagonistas participan en forma activa, emocional, sentimental ,lo único como diría el señor Spok " fascinante" que todos hablan el mismo idioma y son parecidos los aliens
all those asteroids seems to be exact copies of eachother
really nice really interesting... loved ! 24 40min ! bellissima ship departure !!!!!!!!
but there is some odd background chroma issue...
Sovereign class with added sensors and comms?
very cool!
Are there going to be anymore episodes after 1.2 Institutions? This is really starting to get good.
OK, IMO, story: not bad. A little slow, plot needs to move along a bit faster, but it's alright. I might have cut or combined a few scenes in the writing and/or editing phase. VFX and compositing folks: REALLY need to work on matching the lighting on set to the lighting in the green screen backgrounds and evenly lighting things a bit more in general. Color correction is less than optimal in many shots. There is a bad case of the greens going around. This could also be due to the lighting. A trip to Home Depot and Walmart is called for here. Acting: about what one expects from a fan production, but not egregiously so. These are all the sort of things that tend to be gotten wrong on the first few episodes of fan films. I'm still willing to give the rest of the episodes a try, so we'll see what happens with those.
At least the ships look Federation.
Don't what all the whining is about. Good story, mystery and sneaking around. 👍👏👏👏
Only on Romulus...pity.... does anyone but a Canadian get this reference?
Probably not...eh.
Yet another asteroid belt that is absurdly dense.
one of the better fan made episodes. BUT what is up with McCabe's ever changing beard?
"Andromeda Galaxy" Are they getting a maggog invasion? :)
Laughed my ass off no.insult intended. Some of the effects were truly hillarious. However; in the end the story held up and the plot was good. Goodwritting. Production; well who am I to critisize? I enjoyed it and wasn't that the goal?
That woman that shows up at 28:11 looks like she's straight outta Mama's Family! Lololol! 👵
I did a double take when I saw that woman. Then listening to her speak I was wondering where is she from? Mars Colony... Tennessee section? Another commentor said she looked like mamas family. BINGO. Exactly.
Someone buy these kids a decent mike!
How does his beard go from scruffy to clean cut back to scruffy all in a matter of a few hours? And he has time to clean up his beard again in less than 10 minutes before the press conference.
McCabe's beard changes constantly throughout the entire show.
Scott C thats what beard in space does ^^
What's better than a whodunit in the 24 th-century? Political assassinations, arms trading. Black operation units carrying out covert operations under mysterious circumstances. Orders receive from the top-secret level. Again what could be better than that? The stuff of great series or movies.
why starship have blinking lights - as if they want to warn others their space - strange
Naval tradition. Been like that since TOS.
interesting
Why don't you get these StarTrek "New Voyages" and "STARSHIP ...." episodes on NetFlix or Crackle or Amazon Prime. Some of them are pretty good. Some of them need more convincing acting. But some of them are extremely good
whats the premise behind the title? is there a website that explains it?
Federation one is like air force one.
David Tollefson The difference is that Air Force One is the designation given to any plane that the President happens to be on at the time. It doesn't actually have to be one of the planes outfitted for the purpose. It's a bit implausible to actually have a starship permanently designated as "Federation One" because the President doesn't normally travel off planet away from the Federation Council. That's what Ambassadors and Starship Captains are for.
the plane the president happens to be on is usually one that is specially outfitted for the purpose. Anyway.... I think I answered it right. A bunch of dignitaries fly around on this starship. Ipmortant folks... potentates and such.
David Tollefson l
Why is everybody green?
cause the background is all done using green screen and they aren't using a proper filter (a lut) on their camera to compensate for the green refection
What in the Harry Mudd is this 😅😂
This is hysterical hahaha
Starfleets investigative officers perky assistant reminds me of Ally from Disney's Austin & Ally. which doesn't make since because Disney ownes a star wars cartoon franshise.
.
what is the top part of the ship connected to the saucer?
The president was a good actress. The Romulan Praetor did not study her part. She did not act Romulan, she acted like a human. And of course the Star Fleet investigator over acted.
The investigator reminds me of Gerabaldy from B5, a grouchy lone wolf who do anything to get the job done.
Khemistry IBMOR How does a Romulan act?
Political and mass confusion within Authority. That's what this is. In reality it's not yet quite that bad. But this program shows that direction the human race is headed for!
"Not yet that bad", yeah, sure.
Can you get kirk to do a doggie episode again!!!! that was great?
So wait...when they found the data recorder, where DID the assistant hide it? My mind went to dirty places...
Pretty sure she hid it inside the rock inside the buffer
brainplay I'm hoping that she replicated the rocks and encoded the data directly into the molecular formations ;)
some days the tatoo guy was tired :P
This pretty good. NO GREAT.
at least we are not bombarded with the gay references -refreshing -back to startrek
Lol. This is so bad it;s good
Hmmm... so where does this fit in the chain of other movies? I see the assistant is like the third incarnation of Sylan. Spunky actress! lol
NOM
I like this movie, but I feel it could have been better. Many of the actors are over acting their parts....it's not a natural feel of the characters being played and acted upon...the interaction between the characters is a bit stuffy, or a bit on the cold side, could use improvement.
The opening scene where it says "...from the distant Andromeda galaxy..." Sorry but not happening. At a distance of 2 million light years it would take an invasion force how long to get here?? Even at a maximum warp of 9.975....centuries of travel time. Let us not forget what Voyager discovered when they were sent to the Delta Quadrant which was only 70,000 light years. A life time to return to Starfleet and that at maximum warp. Concept is good but the premise...not so much.
You are working from a position of incomplete knowledge. The back story of the Andromeda situation is laid out in Star Trek Odyssey, another fan series by these same creators.
is this from darker projects?
This is one of the last filmed series that the folks who did the Hidden Frontier fan series did. They did 2 episodes, and then have an unfinished second season that is audio only.
awexome
That it was good..
Ignorance of Star fleet functions and priorities is the result of misbehavior.
sigh. Well....at least it's better than discovery...
This could have been much better if the director had instructed the protagonist to be and not act. It's as though he was forcing himself to act like an "Action Movie" hero. Really bad acting in lots of areas. Sorry for the criticism but this script had potential.
Star Wars Trek. An "A" for effort. But, I get so weary of Star Trek space battles. They'rw becoming white noise.
