    I don't much work with recording acoustic instruments yet, but this was still helpful. I will definitely keep this in mind!

    I always always record two separate tracks. Even if it’s a stereo source like over heads. If I need to balance them it’s easier to understand after the fact. As well as letting me decide how wide things are and when I have 8 tracks recording, it bothers me to only have 7 record buttons flashing.
    What are the downsides to doing this? I’ll just route the sources to a common stereo bus for processing anyway. 🤷‍♂️

    "Mid means the center activity and side means the far side". Yes, but so much more: There is mono: ONE soundwave form, dual mono: TWO soundwave forms, and stereo: FOUR soundwave forms. Only stereo contains the mid and side waveforms.

    Hey man I been doing this a long time but newer to logic but I am having an issue going on in my project regarding the stereo field that I cannot correct. On any track or sum track if I add a compressor or limiter and pull the threshold down it pushes the track to the one side. I have never experienced this and wondering if this is something that you have any ideas about why this is happening.

    • @JeroenvanOlffen
      @JeroenvanOlffen 5 років тому +1

      maybe you are using those compressors or limiters in dual mono mode and just on L or R? then any processing you do only would affect one side of the stereo signal and make it seems like it gets moved to one side.

    Hi Chris.
    What is your opinion on whether to use Stereo or Dual Mono when using plugins on the stereo output strip (for mastering)?

  • @andymusic6943
    @andymusic6943 3 роки тому

    I had this issue using Townsend sphere Mike. It records in stereo with a great sound but left is way stronger than right. I used your video to help me ‘correct’ it but in other cases I put the mono track through a stereo bus and that seemed to work. Be great if you could do a video on Townsend.

    ok i want a mono kick with a mono delay. I have a mono channel with my kick audio and send to a mono bus with a dual mono delay but the output is stereo because I only hear the delay on the left. how to make left and right the same? I added a Utility > Gain effect set to Convert Stereo to Mono after the delay but still, same issue. it's not really mono

    If you have 2 separate mono tracks panned left and right, is that dual mono or stereo, or neither?

    • @StaceyFoxx

      I’ve been asking myself this question too for the longest lol

    • @KillConLeche
      @KillConLeche 4 роки тому

      StaceyFoxx same

    • @KillConLeche
      @KillConLeche 4 роки тому +1

      StaceyFoxx I guess the only thing that differentiates dual mono from stereo is that with dual mono you can change the processing of one side while still playing the same signal if that makes sense.
      The use of dual mono in a guitar plugin is a very good example in my opinion. It’s the same signal being played out the L and R side but you can change the amp settings on either side; as opposed to stereo where you will have the same signal whilst still having the same processing (settings,volume, levels, etc.) on both sides
      Now if you were to record 2 separate guitar tracks in mono and pan them L and R you’d get a very wide sound. Yes, essentially this is “stereo” but the slight difference in playing of the separate tracks will create a bigger sound. In regards to guitar tracking, this is not to be confused with stereo nor dual mono at all.

    So when one is working with mid/side processing, does it only work with one or the other, or can you work with both on an individual plugin? This is something I've been confused about. For instance, lets say if I have something like Scheps Omni channel on a track, can I click mid and eq and compress the mid only, but then click side and maybe eq differently to provide more width? Basically can one only adjust either the mid or the side or can one do both in a single plugin?
    Thank you for you videos.

    Does having instruments such as guitar in dual mono drastically affect the hearing of your mix in mono? Or does it not matter wether it’s mono or dual mono?

    • @timmypena241
      @timmypena241 4 роки тому

      Use your ears pad one. You want to know if it will drastically effect*** the hearing of your mix. Well... you have to hear it. If you really want to know something. Start with the phrase golden ears and how you can achieve golden ear status. Gotta love the basics.
