I have been using Peak Design products now for a couple of years (a free sling came with a camera I bought - its now my only camera packing gear I'll use) and to me this is a company that really gets "functional". Almost like they use the products they make and listen to customer input... I love the eco system, and I also love that you are not 100% locked into it if you have existing gear you are preferential to. Excellent gear guys.. well done!
I think it's a good idea to show us the combination of these products working together for different setup. Like a travel backpack with duffel 35l or the duffel 65l working with something else. It would be great
just acquired this model (ordered thru the net) and just realized that the side straps - if you will - aren't adjustable which is amazing. when you intend to wear the bag on your shoulder. So there are only 2 options: whether you do so and you soon realize it is very tight in the case your body is above the average size - and forget about his with a winter clothing OR you manage to find straps from older bags - those adjustable !!! - and feel at ease. Taking into consideration the peak design conception is in principle a state of the art in terms of bag equipment, I am kind of amazed this simple "variable" hasn't been figured it out. Another consideration: I think I will be very cautious with the tissue hooks - those attached directly to the bag - since I have the impression they could wear out quickly - if not get broke - if the user tend to change the several options to wear the bags. Those hooks, in my humble opinion, should have been made in metal. Why not ! There are already 2 aluminium side bars into the bag itself. Wish to hear from you guys...
I can imagine the magnets cut around your shoulders carrying full gear. Wider size of straps on shoulder height (like the longer single shoulder strap) should divide the weight, making it more comfortable to use the duffel in backpack mode.
I dont even like duffle bags but I just love watching this for all the crazy innovations you guys come up with. I did a video of your 45L and small camera cubes with some of my own innovations of how to use it.
AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME!!! Peak Design has the BEST and FRESHEST designs out. I LOVE how they make an anchor kit so you can use your existing camera strap. I just wish there backpacks were a little more dollar friendly for POOR photography's like me... Price isn't too bad, but when your on a budget, and my financial advisor (WIFE) is saying, NO... Hit's below the belt a little.... LOL OUTSTANDING on how you guys take the time to show how to use, and special features of your products. Great Video BTW.
I wish you'd do a video for the 65L duffel. It is cavernous inside and I'd like to buy some PD packing cubes for organization, and seeing a video with various cube configurations would be super helpful!
I’m wondering if you can use two of the thicker shoulder straps to make better backpack straps if you had two of them and also I’m wondering if they sell an extra shoulder straps that you could potentially have two and use those as backpack straps.
I already have the travel backpack, which I love. I’m not sold on the duffel bag, as the carry handles don’t look very comfortable. Also, this would only be used to complement my travel backpack, and I already have a few ugly duffel bags so I really don’t need another one. But having one from the same brand, which would be totally compatible with the packing tools is just so tempting. MUST. RESIST. MY PRECIOUS.
Those handles don't look practical at all ( not strong magnet, and the backpack option looks uncomfortable). BUT... Would it be possible to purchase a 2nd shoulder strap and use the 2 instead of the regular handles as a backpack option ? I'd consider to purchase this duffle as a main carry-on bag ( with a small packable day-pack inside), but I want the possibility to wear it as a backpack ( so I'm able to carry it on a motorbike ride for example). As a 5.4 feet woman, I would not carry it as a backpack as it's shown here, for more than 5 min... The handles seem only interesting if you use the duffle as a sport bag or a weekend bag when you use you car...
Hi, Just ordered one at my local Peak Design supplier. First tried out a Camera Cube in another brand rollbag I own, and found it the best way to use it for my camera gear. Having watched Aaron's (from Nomads Nation) review, I do understand his issue with the 'comfy' magnetic handles. Any change Peak Design may take this into consideration to improve these handles and make them available (as an accessoiry) for todays owners aswell?
Awesome video as usual! Would be nice that you could consider making a kind of cover that we could put all around the duffel bag in case if we need to check-in the bag but doesn’t want to have it damaged.
You guys do a very good job at breaking down your merchandise and do a good job with the quality of your products! Definitely interested in investing more your ecosystem! 😄
The only thing that is keeping me from jumping on this bag is the lack of a luggage handle pass-through. I know that this is suitable as a carry-on, but wondering if I could use this as my personal item when I travel with a rolling bag.
There's a lot of people in the comments section, and this happens on most of the PD's videos, that come in here typing with totally wrong expectations. This is a duffel first, everything else second. Just because it isn't a backpack because you thought it could be doesn't mean it's a bad product. Adjust your expectations accordingly.
Please do a lightweigth packable day backpack for the Travel-line which can hold a medium sized camera cube (with side-access) and a tech pouch! It should really be lightweight and packable inside the travel backpack or duffels... It would be awesome!
I bought this bag from REI and it had really good reviews online. I have been traveling for two weeks in Europe with this bag. Y’all seem super chill and have made a great bag. Kudos
@@CyberMew I found the bag via online reviews and then found it listed for sale from my local REI and promptly ordered it. Turns out my brother has had the same bag for several years and I never knew 🤣 we showed up for the trip with the same bag and I was like wait what?
@@CyberMew No issues at all, I would say that the "backpack mode" can be a little uncomfortable, but its a super nice feature to have on trips where you want to carry lots of stuff as a duffle but then want to day trip around and need to carry some random stuff but not everything. This 35L is going to be perfect for me and my Mirroless camera system, plus some audiophile headphone gear! The backpack should straps seem to be a bit short/tight. Do you offer any kind of longer shoulder straps? I'm not a large guy, but they do look tight and look awkward to mount and dismount the duffel is shoulder strap mode. I have this duffel on the way!
Hey idk if you guys thought of it but if you use the shoulder strap in combination with a camera cube it could make for a pretty awesome little day bag
When I was younger, I have travelled with duffels. Later on I've switched to a suitcase with wheels, but never was too comfortable with it nor the backpacks for other than daily or touristic purposes. I am thinking of getting back to duffels, mainly because they are usually much lighter than (PD) travel backpacks. This duffel looks realy nice, the only thing I dislike about its aesthetics is, that it is way too wide. It should not be imo designed for the photography cubes in mind and should be taller instead. Looks weird when carrying over the shoulder and what I really hate is often suggested vertical carry-on, which ruins the overal aesthetics even more ... Going to get it anyway, well, because that's what a PD addict usually does :-)
Is there a new revision where it stays open and not close when unzipped? It’s annoying to want to put things in with 2 hands but it’s “closed” even though bag is unzipped.
Apologies if this had already been asked, but can someone explain how the "Hand straps double as luggage pass-through for roller bag carry"? Do they, specifically, mean the grab handles on the sides of the bag? I can't imagine the MAIN hand straps to be luggage pass-through compatible... the bag and luggage would just fall over from the weight! First one lasted maybe a week second one through warranty literally didn’t last 5 mins. No joke bag was empty only had your tech pouch & wash pouch inside it. As soon as I put the strap over my head buckle snapped before it hit my shoulder. Please help me out
Would you also be able to squeeze the wash kit alongside of the small and medium packing cubes? I have all three and would ideally want to be able to use them together
They showed a couple examples of packing camera gear in packing cubes along with clothes in regular packing cubes. So yes. But it depends on how much you want to carry (and if you want packing cubes to compress your clothes and separate/protect/organize your camera gear)
Zenvarr • Cool! There’s many ways to solve a packing question :) Lately, I’ve been using a decently big backpack and a compressible duffel. The duffel folds up into a pouch about the size of 4 CD cases, but you can unfold it and it’ll fit under an airplane seat without counting as extra luggage. It’s light, which is great because my PD Everyday backpack (30L, V1) is a bit heavy, so I can also use the duffel as a day-pack.
I have the 35L duffel bag above in Sage that (used one time) if anyone would like to purchase it from me. Love the duffel, but I backed the product way back during the Travel Backpack's campaign and i wish i would of selected the black instead of the sage. I will be buying the black soon and i have no use for two. Will obviously send pics, receipt from Peak and anything else necessary.
Can you design a bag for us the no- hipster types? We need a regular outdoors , tac, hiking camera bag. You guys have the best design ideas . Please consider it .
mars GIA Are you looking for a bag that’s just a more comfortable and backpack like, large camera cube? Peak Design is about making bags that can change according to your needs. Creating a bag that just does one thing without the potential to have other uses is doing what the rest of the crowd already does. It could be done, but the current lineup of gear gets the job done extremely well already.
PD, you really need to get real. First, I LOVE your gear. Both of these bags are awesome. Either of them, individually, are excellent single bag carry. However, it is completely impractical to carry a backpack that may weigh up to 30 lbs and a duffel which will weigh up to 30lbs. Now, Lawrence can probably pull that off, but if, like me, I'm not as big and strong as Lawrence, it is unrealistic to expect one person to carry both bags together. A more practical way to operate is one of the bags (either the duffel with a smaller backpack, say 10L like the, wait for it...the PD Sling bag (which I own, btw)..or the travel backpack and the...wait for it.. 10L sling bag to go under the seat. I fly a LOT (work for an airline) and almost always carry my camera gear with me. I almost never check a bag (there are some exceptions) because I never know if I'm getting on the plane. The TB and the 10L together will get you on the plane no problem (unless you buy basic economy, in which case, you will pay for both checked and carry on...and probably a center seat and checking your carry on...but I digress). I also must carry a CPAP machine and a full pharmacy. My solution? The PD wash pouch can carry the 16 medications that I have to carry with me. The two bag carry on I use requires a wheeled underseat bag (unfortunately not PD, but a very excellent non PD product). I can get on with both and because I have both the small and medium cubes, I can adapt my carry as needed. The 10L sling goes in the outer pocket of the PD TB and when I get to my destination, I can carry everything on wheels and if necessary, I can hand carry the wheeled bag (as it does not more than 15 lbs full) quite easily. So what do I use for a Dopp kit? An old airline amenity bag that I can stuff a corner of anything. Why do I got into such length? The PD Travel System is VERY adaptable, and I utilize as many of your products as possible (the new tripod that is coming to me from PD will solve my tripod carry). The one thing I cannot advocate or find realistic is a carry of both the TB and the Duffel together. It will not be possible to carry on both. The 10L sling does fit under the seat, so that is very doable, but not the two big bags. If you check the duffel and carry on the TB, it will suck for you if you arrive with one and not the other and if they do arrive, it will suck more to carry them. Trust me, I've done it before and it just doesn’t work very well. This is not to say that you should not buy both bags. Not at all. Just don't carry both of them. So, to everyone reading, you really need to buy PD gear because it is awesome stuff. It travels very well and solves a lot of problems if you, like me, carry my gear around. It can almost do everything. Now, if you designed a wheeled bag underseat convertible backpack...well, isn't that an idea? My best to you all!!
I think these duffels lack of an important thing: comfort. The everyday backpack was great, travel backpack were too heavy, now 35 and 55 duffels? I would rather get an hiking backpack and ICU to carry my cameras and stuffs.
If you carry thousands of dollars of equipment in a duffel bag, and enjoy the sensation of having a shoulder strap snap, causing the said bag to fall off your shoulder, and roll down several flights of stairs, this bag is for you. Horrible, absolutely horrible quality. Stay away, it's not worth it. I can't express that enough, no lifetime warranty is worth damaging equipment.
Kelii Yamashita It’s meant to be a backpack only as a convenience feature and not as a primary function. It’s first and foremost designed as a duffel with the backpack as added functionality but not as its intended use. If you would like a duffel/backpack hybrid, the 65L duffelpack is 10L larger in its natural, not expanded 45L state and features padded backpack straps that double as duffel style carrying straps.
but why put a bag in a bag when using the camera cubes? why not just make a camera bag!!!????? attach, detach, attach, detach, attach, detach,... maybe that's what you should rename yourselves as 'Attach Detach' 'AD' for short, definitely an over-designed version of what should be a simple duffle bag.
Because these bags aren’t designed to be primarily dedicated camera bags. They are bags designed to change based on what you need them to do. If you had to do some business photography today and had to carry your gear in a neatly organized fashion and had a trip overseas the next day, you could have your bag loaded out for your shoot and by the time you got back to your studio at the end of the day, all your clothes and traveling essentials would be waiting prepacked in your packing cubes that you would swap out in 30 seconds or less. It’s a more efficient way you use a bag. You don’t need to buy a dedicated camera bag and a dedicated traveling bag when you just need the one without much compromise on functionality.

Love your products and love these videos. However! Anyone watching this video needs to watch in 1.25x playback speed.
No luggage pass through 😢
Can I bring 35L as carry on
Yes you can in fact they marketed it as a carry on approved.
I think these duffels lack of an important thing: comfort.
The everyday backpack was great, travel backpack were too heavy, now 35 and 55 duffels? I would rather get an hiking backpack and ICU to carry my cameras and stuffs.
Ima bee honest when it’s a book bag it don’t look so cozy
I think I speak for everyone who agrees with me when I say the black bag needs that tan leather detailing.
Just one thing missing.... Wheels!!

Lost me at the chord hook
If you carry thousands of dollars of equipment in a duffel bag, and enjoy the sensation of having a shoulder strap snap, causing the said bag to fall off your shoulder, and roll down several flights of stairs, this bag is for you. Horrible, absolutely horrible quality. Stay away, it's not worth it. I can't express that enough, no lifetime warranty is worth damaging equipment.
Bruh, that backpack style looks uncomfortable!
It's something we call optional
but why put a bag in a bag when using the camera cubes? why not just make a camera bag!!!????? attach, detach, attach, detach, attach, detach,... maybe that's what you should rename yourselves as 'Attach Detach' 'AD' for short, definitely an over-designed version of what should be a simple duffle bag.
Cuz then u can switch between bags without taking everything out
I don't like a single thing about this camera bag.
