Fun fact: Lawrence recently completed a 23andMe DNA test and discovered that he has no genealogical relationship to David Attenborough. That's right, THE David Attenborough!
This is indeed amazing in how you guys managed to make such a systematic backpack yet with ease to use. As owners of charcoal everyday 20L and sling 10L, I think I will go for the ash one...The black one also looks great but (from my point of view) would be even better if it comes with some amazing color trimming that representing the creativity of your team. (like the red trimming we've got on the charcoal - it's low profile yet stands out from other day bags).
When I use bags that open at the back like this one, I typically take both arms out of the shoulder straps but keep the waist strap on and swing the bag around my waist, then open it. That way I can easily change lenses and do all sorts of thing. If I drop anything it will land inside the bag. With some packs (like the Lowepro Flipside 400) this works really well, with others it feels rather precarious, like something will fall out at anytime, or the whole thing will collapse and my gear will be all over the place. How does this work with the travel backpack? Also, the product I REALLY hope you will make is a bike handlebar bag for DSLRs. There are a few of them out there, none of them is good. In the end I made my own and it kind of works, but I really wish there was a good option available over the shelf.
Many people like me think that walking in the street with a tripod not concealed in a bag aside seems too high-profile. I hope Peak Design will release a set of tripod bags for different sizes with always PD low-profile style and attachable to Molle straps in the future. And a series of Molle system backpack to adventurous photographers. Thanks!
Oh, I'm loving the Sage!! I can't quite bring myself to buy from a non-EU location though - I'd have to pay an additional 25% in sales tax when the package reaches Sweden and that's just not doable for me right now 😭
FaerieDust, we send EU orders from our UK warehouse (and additionally during the Kickstarter Campaign we don't add VAT to the cost of your pledge, as would be the case ordering through our website) the Kickstarter is the cheapest way to get hold of the new Travel Line.
Is the zipper to main compartment which is holding the whole load safe enough? How long you think it will last before it breaks? I really like how the bag looks but really unsure about that zipper holding the whole load. Especially when you have photo gear inside.
The expansion zippers increase the volume of the front compartment (the one with the pocket that has the sleeves for organizing small objects) by 10L. The main compartment doesn't change volume unless you use the compression snaps at the top of the bag to reduce it by 5L.
Hi PD Team, I have this questions many times, but didn’t get any answer from UA-cam, Email, Facebook. I want to know that will there any smaller size of this travel backpack, which still fits large camera cube, in the future? This bag is way higher for me to be a one-bag-solution for travel, even though I really love the design of this bag. Thanks.
That's a tough one - the Large size Camera Cube almost completely fills the main compartment of this backpack with only enough space at the top for a tech pouch, so it can't get much smaller dimension-wise (unless they do a version that omits the front compartment entirely).
Hey Ryan, we are focused on launching the current Travel Line Backpack which goes from 30-45L. We do have other backpacks in the 18-30L Categories, so although I can't say we won't be introducing a more travel orientated smaller backpack, I can't see it anytime soon.
Hi MA, thanks for replying here. I understand that it can't be much smaller than the current 45L bag. What I want is a one that, just as you said, can just fit the large camera cube and left almost no space for another small pouch. In this way, the capacity of the bag is still quite acceptable, while the size, especially the height, can be smaller (maybe from 56cm to 50-52cm?). Plus the compressible (not sure if I use this word correctly) and expansion function, it can really fit more osscasions.
It looks really, really handsome (the bag), but I don't want to travel with good looking gear that turdbags want to steal. I suppose the black one might be acceptable, and the sage one dowdy enough not to attract too much attention, but quality oozes out of this stuff and that's hard to hide.

Hi Calvin, yes the Travel Line is a modular system, so you effectively purchase the Backpack as the shell, then add the packing tools which suit your usage, be that Camera Cubes or Packing Cubes etc.
@@peakdesignvideo well that's dumb. Should be cheaper if you have to buy the compartments inside. This was already as much as I'd want to spent on a backpack. Now it's $450.
Why no YKK zipper on the main compartment??? this is a $300 plus backpack and supposedly premium materials were used... if its not YKK zipper on the main compartment or basically if its not YKK zippers on every zipper then it is not Premium materials period.
Regarding our use of Zoom zips on the main access points...we've chosen Zoom because of a number of factors: strength, feel, testing performance, performance over time, and value. We've used Zoom zips across all of our bags, all of which are guaranteed for life, and we've seen a sub-0.3% failure rate on them. Another big part of our decision to use Zoom is that we've been able to develop a close direct relationship with them, something we're not able to do with a supplier of YKK's size. Zoom has been super responsive to our requests for tweaks and customizations. We pride ourselves in honing every last detail of our products to perform their specific functions optimally, and working with Zoom has allowed us to do that. YKK certainly makes great stuff and they're the choice of many top bag makers (we are using them on all our internal zippers on the Travel Line Backpack and on our Packing Cubes), but we strongly believe in the quality and durability of Zoom's products, enough to stake our reputation on it. We're as hardware-obsessed as it gets, and for our and our customers' needs, we think the Zoom zips we use are the best. We will continue to use the best products for their performance and function, rather than limiting ourselves to just Zoom or YKK Zippers simply on their reputation.
You are the best presenter for a bag!! I have been debating on which travel bag to buy for my trip to Japan and I've decided on this bag over a few others I've been debating on! You are the reason for my decision as well!! This video is amazing and the reason I would want to buy Peak instead of the competition - this detailed video showing off every feature in detail instead of as a quick commercial made a huge difference in my buying decision!! Damn!! After reading a few negative reviews, I've discovered the the shoulder straps suck and hurt your back/shoulders quite a bit if you have more than 30L worth of gear in the bag....I'm going to be backpacking across Japan for 2 whole weeks with one bag on my back the whole time. I do not want to have to carry my shit if it's going to kill my shoulders...I was debating on whether or not to do the 1 bag travel or a carry on suitcase and day pack....I'll keep your daypack in mind in case I can't find a proper 1 bag trip solution.
I love backpacks and great design. It’s obvious that you guys love backpacks and do great design. I just received my backpack and accompanying kit ... excellent work on great gear. Ticks all the boxes for me. Lucky I watched this vid as there were a couple of features noted I wasn’t aware of. What next Peak Designs .... I’m waiting ...
Oh man please make the best travel tripod to ever exist. Every other tripod has some weird limitation or drawback. Here's my Kickstarter money already >$$$$$$
Agreed. I was impressed with another new company that uses internal camera bags so I ordered one. But I couldn’t get it to fit no matter how much I adjusted it. The top of the bag hit me in the back of the head and the sternum straps couldn’t be adjusted in a way that would fit a woman’s body. I returned it. Remember that there are female photographers and it is hard to find bags that can fit a woman’s body. I have several of your products and love them. Keep up the good work.
Your first "pro" tip is a bad tip for 2 reasons, leaving the zips at the top makes the bag a bigger target for thieves and if you load the contents wrongly it's possible that the weight can pull the bag open by nudging the zippers. I've experienced both of these, it's better to put the zippers at the bottom, pull both to the top when you want to grab the laptop, then put both zippers down to one side. This also means that you are more likely to feel someone trying to grab the zipper and open your bag.
Do you think that putting so much stress on that main zipper is good idea? Capacity is humongous, so is possibly weight of the load. I owe two backpacks where I can get to the main compartment through the zipper on the back, but straps are connected to the frame of a backback. Here is different and straps are connected to the main flap... putting almost all of the weight and stress on that main zipper. Will the 5l everyday sling fit in the backpack. I was the thinking this would be great to use travel to a destination and then have that has a daypack. I realize you could use the camera inserts but the sling has the possibility to be carried in different ways like a waist pack.
Really need to mount a tripod centered on the back. The only thing lacking is a hideable pouch at the bottom to support the legs. Otherwise this bag looks great.
I think it would need a really HEAVY and LOUD 'background' beat to make Lawerence any less awkward, it's just not how he rolls... It might encourage him to bring out his guitar and start one of his off the cuff tunes too...

A salesman for those of us who hate salesmen. And don't we all hate salesmen?

Was that some foreshadowing to a future Peak Designs tripod that I caught in there??
oh man why did I click on this video, now I am so tempted to buy a bag I don't need... 😂

best and funniest product presentation ever!
Way out of my budget, but this has to be the most perfect backpack ever for my weekend photo getaways.
So your going to design and manufacture tripods next. Nice!
Also, the side comment at 7:04 is very interesting.
This is one awesome video and review!
The bag is awesome too!
So glad there's a spot for my _pencils_
i was literally just watching the last hangout
Please make a smaller version of this maybe a 25L version? Just like your Everyday Backpacks (20L/30L). Awesome stuff PD.
Just bought my 30L everyday as a travel bag! Kinda disappointed I missed this one before I bought it as I would’ve definitely gone with this.
Best video ever.
I want to use my travel backpack for many years. So what r the best maintenance tips you can give us?
Oh, I'm loving the Sage!! I can't quite bring myself to buy from a non-EU location though - I'd have to pay an additional 25% in sales tax when the package reaches Sweden and that's just not doable for me right now 😭

Peak Design Video Oh well, that changes EVERYTHING! Hello, new backpack 😍 Thank you for letting me know!!!
It's almost like you guys put some thought into this.
Is the zipper to main compartment which is holding the whole load safe enough? How long you think it will last before it breaks? I really like how the bag looks but really unsure about that zipper holding the whole load. Especially when you have photo gear inside.
So if you were to expand the front, does that make the organisation pocket bigger or the main volume? Assuming you have the divider in...
The expansion zippers increase the volume of the front compartment (the one with the pocket that has the sleeves for organizing small objects) by 10L. The main compartment doesn't change volume unless you use the compression snaps at the top of the bag to reduce it by 5L.
im stressed which colour to get. team black vs team sage?
Load that puppy with the full travel bundle
We will in our next video. Stay tuned!

I’m getting the black but that new sage colour is dope!
You should make a hybrid of the everyday backpack and the travel line :D
Who would have thought Seth Rogen knows so much about backpacks..

I have a crack a the best travel day pack....what do you think?
Was that actually a teaser for the next product, a "Peak Design Tripod" ?!
I need this to know, will it fit my Asus ROG GL502VT in the laptop compartment? Size is 15.4 x 10.5 x 0.9 inches thanks!
The maximum laptop size on the campaign is 16 x 11 x 1 inch, so you should be just fine.
I’m super excited about the new travel line, I just wish I would be using the bag on my upcoming trip in October!!
Have you thought of using a subtle background beat? I think it would make the video feel a little less awkward...
I think it would need a really HEAVY and LOUD 'background' beat to make Lawerence any less awkward, it's just not how he rolls... It might encourage him to bring out his guitar and start one of his off the cuff tunes too...
I'm so happy I backed this. My current travel backpack sucks
Waiting for my pack in December. BTW, nice flamingo.
those outtakes =D love the video but nothing for me.... =/
lol at the corny jokes

I believe it is a Gitzo Traveler Series 2 tripod Dimensions on the following page www.manfrotto.co.uk/gitzo-tripod-kit-traveler-series-2-4-sections
Alright, waiting for the tripod now guys
I don't need the bag but I want that hinted at tripod
Quick question, up to how many inch laptop will this backpack hold? Is it just up to 15 inch or are 17 inch laptops fine with this backpack?

love the bag.... hate kickstarter.
Side access in backpack is one of the best thing ever
