Been cutting my 2 teenage boys hair for the last 9 months. I'm getting better but still need more confidence and I take too long. At least I'm not paying $35 times 2 times 2 times a month... in Nyc... my oldest told me yesterday he had a couple of friends complement the cut. Ima start cutting his friends hair for free just to get better. Point is.... I've watched endless amounts of hair cutting videos. This is one of the best fade and most descriptive video I have come across. Thanks for the lesson bro. Much appreciated.
Same here my guy I started cutting my kids hair hair (fade) for the second time. Came out decent which I'll take any day over paying for cuts which it's getting harder to afford for ME. Good luck & keep it up 👍.
As a Level 2 barber who just recently qualified few months ago .. ive decided to go mobile and just keep teaching myself practicing along the way ... Your tutorials are very clear and good to watch and you seem like a cool guy too , the barber community is so cool and wholesome to be apart of , everybody just wants to help each other! ❤ Gained a subscriber from me 👏
Jos, thx for blurry cut, ur explanations , u keep it simple, i just discover ur channel today need to subscribe, bumm, continue the nice work greetings from Germany 🇩🇪
Appreciate the videos bro, changed my technique been trying yours, the only thing is how do you know how high to take the #2 guard or give yourself enough room to fit the rest of the steps
Great question, if they have scissor/Shear length on top I always do a 2 guard open. The only time I’ll do a 1.5 guard open is when they ask for a High Fade + AND they have short hair on top ( not scissor length) so 95% of the time I always use the 2 guard open let me know if that’s confusing or not 🙏🏽
@@JosCuts yeah bro I know you using the #2 guard and why you are but what I'm struggling with is how high to take the #2 before using clipper over comb and giving myself enough room to fade underneath. I keep having to come back later with the #2 again later on, or I'm taking the fade too high idk.
@@josemduarte2629 oohhhh okay I understand, honestly that’s just a step you’re going to have to fix with experience. I can’t tell you because every head every haircut is different. What I recommend is doing the 2 guard , then clipper over comb, then 2 guard again and THEN start the fading process. Once you cut enough people you’ll be able to know how high to take it. But if I had to give you a concrete answer I would say right below the Ridge area , but like I said every head is different 🙏🏽
100% there is a BIG difference. I usually only use a 1.5 to debulk if they have a 2 or 3 on top. Anything higher than a 2, including shear length, I’ve found that #2 open gives the best blend in my personal opinion. That’s not to say that 1.5 to debulk is wrong , I’m just saying there definitely is a very big difference. Especially when cutting straight hair
Nice job brother! Quick question what's the best clippers so far right now?? I've been watching a few videos and some of the barbers have a different view about clippers like Wahl, BaBylissPRO, SC instinct X Gamma + protege and some others, could you help me which one to buy ,I'll start cutting my own hair and my kids. I'd really appreciate your help.
I’m so sorry for the late response. Honestly it’s all preference but I honestly think the Magic Clips from Wahl or the 5 Star Senior cordless Metal Edition from Wahl an are the best fading clipper. Best trimmer is either the A Lign trimmer from Wahl or the Babyliss FX Pro !
Great question. Because if I cut the lower hairs with the comb it’ll mess up the fade. I like the cut the top hairs only to give the face a nice shape and blend it to the top at the same time. Then I get my 2guard open and I cut any hairs underneath the clipper over comb that need to be cut 🙏🏽
Really great question 💯 I use the stock Blade that comes with the 5-star Wahl Cordless Senior Metal Edition. I believe it’s the Precision Blade but I might be wrong. I don’t use ceramic, I don’t do anything fancy. If you’re a beginner , for whoever is reading this, stop making your life complicated. Stop over adjusting your clippers, buying a new blade every week , putting grip on your clippers…. Keep it simple. Don’t do too much. If it works for you then cool but more often than not, keeping it simple is the way to go. Someone please correct me if I got the name of the blade wrong 🙏🏽
@@JosCuts i really struggle to get long on top short on the sides haircuts to look how yours do i end up ending the fade up too low do you have any tips bro i know this video explains it but it looks alot easier than it is
I don’t show my shear technique because it’s honestly simple and fast. I don’t part the hair or anything like that I personally think that’s a waste of time. If you guys really want to see how I cut the top I’ll show it though
@@JosCuts I appreciate the answer brother! I am only asking because just getting into barbering and it would be honor to learn from you. Also I have been cutting my hair for 3-4yrs now

So technically you're learning this just to deprive barbers from their source of income right? 😁

Is your process to work on both sides individually? Like in 2 parts?
I switch it up to not get bored. Sometimes I do the full cut at the same time, sometimes I do 1 side then the other 🙏🏽
Is the guard flat on his head the whole time until you reach the curve on the occipital?
That’s exactly correct. It’s flat so I can get under the hairs and once I’m under, i pull it away from the head
@@JosCuts Appreciate the response my haircut game has def been a lot better bro!
Thanks sir
Why do you leave the lower Hairs sticking out of the comb And Only Cut the Upper Hairs while clipper over combing?

Can you send me the link from where you bought this comb clip stick ??
its just a generic comb I don't even know where I got it from maybe a beauty supply store sorry !

Within a week !
I hope I win the 50$
Anyone know his ig link?
@ Jos.Cuts.1 🙏🏽
😂😂
Where exactly is the clipper over comb technique??? 😂 this video is useless bruh
Thanks for your input 🙏🏽
@JosCutsI think you cut it way too short on the sides imo. You kept cutting and cutting and it looks like a mop on his head.
