Solar cycle 25 is here and we have had intense radiation flares and changing magnetisphere. Check the space weather forecasts channels and you will see what happens
I have had the same problem in Cheshire. All the oak trees on our peat marsh have only produced diseased acorns. In my local park where the soil is well drained the acorns are abundant. I put it down to having a wet summer here ,not even having to water at all the whole year. There also very little convection in the sunshine this year!
Hi, great vid. I like you straight away because you love animals and nature... I hadn't really thought about it but i haven't seen any acorns or beech nuts. The chestnuts i have found have been really tiny and withered. ... I think you may be right, I have noticed all year the made amount of tree growth even the weaker ones have thrown themselves up, maybe they;re taking the year off fruiting like walnut trees do.... Imagine how amazing next years crop will be.. Shropshire uk. Have a great week x
We had heaps of acorns last year up here in Scotland, almost nothing this year. We assumed last year was a mast year for oaks and they're now all trying to build their energy stores back up. With our hazels it's harder to judge if there was any difference as the squirrels always seem to get to the nuts first.
Northern California Quercus Douglasii (blue oak) are known for mast in alternate years, but now is the second heavy crop in a row. The drop is often an all-at-once situation in mid-August, though this year has been a steady plink-plink. This summer warmer than the last, no realtion to snow or spring chill either. Significant drought in previous years minimized production.
I had notice there was no acorns but it hadn’t clicked in my mind while sweeping up the leaves on the drive. We have a number of evergreen trees , great western cedars and the like and they have thinned out a lot this year which has had me worried they are dying maybe it’s just been a poor year all around. I’ve noticed it’s not been the warmest year in Wales anyway
We were just saying today. How the chestnut trees were exactly the same totally empty.. but a lot more leaf growth. However hazelnuts ok 👍 That’s in South Wales.

It's been really difficult foraging anything this year in Dorset
No sloes with us in South Wales this year either. Too cold and wet at blossom time for pollination.
warm and wet this year... tomatoes stayed green, but blackberries a plenty!
There are Acorns ALL OVER here in the Eastern US this year.
Had a look at a big oak in a field by my house. Not even a single one for a squirrel!🌰🐿

It might be worthwhile looking into cloud seeding, it’s happening and could be the reason!
Thick in Colorado this year. They say every 5 years is a heavy mast year
Very few acorns or beech nuts this year in Reading, must be saving up for a mast year.
I'm slowly learning more about gardening
Most of the sweet chestnut diseased that I've found
