Red's greatest flaw was how blinded he was about Laurie's sexual exploits and still treated her as his "little girl". Even Bob knew to be stern with Donna when she got in trouble. It didn't always work but he was more aware than Red was.
Nah, Bob was oblivious to Donna most of the time. He never assumed Donna was up to anything, didn't know Midge got her the Pill, never suspected Eric and Donna were active until they got caught by the police. The only punishment I remember was making her go to Catholic school, otherwise he always backed down even when he initiated the confrontation.
@@robertmurdock1848 That’s the thing, Laurie never got punished. Bob may have been aloof but he punished Donna, unlike Red who would blame it on Eric like when Laurie slept with her professor.
I like how when Eric actually thought to ask if Laurie was there, Red looked at him as if he had the audacity to even ask, only to be right a moment later
This is what always happens when a parent plays favorites. The put the child on a pedestal over the others, and that child believes they'll be untouchable forever. But then, they do something that completely shatters the parent's illusion and it all comes crashing down!
@@JoJo-ij5by I don’t think Kitty has favorites. She loves them unconditionally & treats them fairly. The thing with Red is that he’s blinded by the idea that Laurie will always be a “Daddys Girl” and not see her as a problematic, undisciplined young adult.
Here’s another thing. During the times where the show takes place it’s not uncommon that dads are really strict on their sons. There were clear and defining roles of what a man should do and what a woman should do. Maybe red is just extra hard on Eric because he just doesn’t want life to push him around. In my family my grandpa was exceptionally hard on my dad and his siblings but it was only because he cared, and the Vietnam war wasn’t making things any easier. To me it just shows the mentality of what a man and woman’s roles were based on the time it took place ie the 70s
@Anti Thought Police ikr! When such an important main character leaves, it needs to be the end of the show. Or a main writer. Like when the main writer left Gilmore Girls and the last dragon was sooo terrible. There are times when you just have to let things go and stop while u r ahead...
The problem is everyone was moving on, getting jobs and moving out, while Eric still lived at home and barely worked. That's why Eric annoyed everyone close to the end. Even the actor hated his character never growing up.
😂 absolutely hilarious when Eric starts cracking up after Red storms off. That blank look staring at Laurie and then just rolling before leaving is great

Did you even watch the show at all? She was not splitting rent. In the earlier episode of the season, she was sleeping with a college professor for better grades, so it's not surprising that she was sleeping with a MARRIED guy for rent. At the end of the episode, Laurie even said that he moved back in with his wife. Yeah, very responsible....
The reasoning isn't the issue. It's the fact that he was under the impression that his daughter was (for lack of a better term) "pure" and a "good girl". His daughter put up a "facade" of purity, and Red bought into it his entire life, only for it to hit him like the '85 Chicago Bears defensive line that she wasn't. He was essentially made a fool out of his family and his daughter was the main reason for it all. Doesn't justify it at all, but it is a little understandable as to why he would talk to his daughter like that in this moment. However, he does come to his senses eventually
I love how Eric was making fun of Laurie but the moment he saw how upset she was at Reds response, he defended her, they may not get along but they do love one another

Nor he wouldn't catch a glimpse of Laurie's true colors.

"Laurie's living with a boy?"
I love how Kitty figured that out so quickly.
Sitcom trope but yeah it was good 😆
One boy?
@@sobradodelobo See, now it could have been worse.
In this video we find out that she knew when Laurie first said it
Just one boy, now see it could’ve been worse😂
Always liked how Eric went being thrilled about Laurie being in the hot seat to actually going to bat for her.
I’ve been in his position and believe me is the best feeling 😂
Sibling love!
I can relate. I’d like to see my sister get embarrassed but not hurt.
That’s just good siblingism. “Lol, the only person allowed to destroy your spirit is me”
Like even against parents

Same goes with Kitty since she knew off that bat she was living with a boy. Even question if there were more than one.
Because everyone besides Red knew she was a floozy. Red thought she was perfect and the better child than Eric. Thats why he reacted this way
@bleechrcreechrr he finally realized what Laurie really is, and the word you're actually looking for is "SLUT"
He didn't know but he was like "a guy, yeah this something that Laurie will do, im gonna take the risk"

I often wondered what would become of this family if Kitty wasn’t there. She’s definitely the super glue that holds it together.
More like the concrete the keeps it from collapsing
Which is why she drinks and has that obnoxious laugh - her way of relieving all the stress that comes with being the glue.
