ChromaVerb is Logic's powerhouse algorithmic reverb that brings 14 differentspaces to your music. From classic rooms & halls to specical FX.
basically every one of these videos has my jaw drop at how insanely powerful and deep Logic Pro X is
And we are some of the luckiest people because not every Daw has such great people making tutorials about them. Ableton and FL tutorials all seem extremely gimmicky and aimed at children who want to make either dubstep or the best rap song of all time on their very first try 😂
Hey Chris - here we are years later and I’d argue ChromaVerb still hold up! I just did a review of 16 reverb plugins and STILL feel ChromaVerb and SpaceDesigner are the best starting points for reverb. Sure, there’s AI stuff, hardware emulations from UAD, and some new players, but really there’s nothing better sounding than these Logic plugins.
Chromaverb is definitely one of my favorite stock logic plugins. I have a ton of high-end third-party Reverb plugins and yet I still use Chromaverb on every mix. It often beats anything else I have.
It really is helpful to see these logic features and plugins in depth. So many people think you need to add third-party plugins to get the features they already have in Logic Pro X out of the box!
I wish all tutorial videos were this clear, succinct, and free from useless interjection.
The dampening curve is not all that abstract, it simply allows you to LENGTHEN or SHORTEN the reverb at different frequencies, rather than having the exact same decay length at all frequencies. (Look on the right side for the decay times). This is good for shortening at the low end to reduce muddiness rather than using EQ to cut out low frequency reflections (which is necessary on other reverbs units where shortening per frequency isn’t possible).
This is also how real rooms work, where different materials absorb different frequencies at different rates. 👍
This reverb is way deeper than I realized. Thanks for the great vids!
Wow!another day that I’m shocked with the brilliance of detail within Chris’s video.so helpful.
Thank you!
Wow... this was the video I needed for this verb. Thanks.
This was so interesting and helpful! Thank you :)
Nice one Chris, love the option to tie in with the beat, brilliant
I've been wondering about the Logic verbs. This is such a clear, well made video and I feel like I know how to use this thing already. Thank you!
This series is amazingly helpful... thank you!
Chris just showing me another hidden gem in logic that I didn't even know I had... thank you! this reverb is awesome
Thanks for showing the details page, that mono trick fader wow!
Knowing this is a complete game changer, thank you so much!
Absolute beast of a plugin & tutorial
let's get the most out of it - thanks to you!
I also fully agrree - The videos are really straight forward and get the point.
Thank you!
Awesome reverb! Logic has some really powerful native tools!
Super!
Thanks Chris ! Say hi from Thailand
Awesome stuff! Didn't know about the details page, makes a whole difference!
LOVE this reverb, its so organic and clean. The other reverbs sound like obvious digital impulse responses: "Here's my sound going thru the reverb and here's the reverb's response to it" kind of thing.. I also noticed in Logic Pro X they got rid of the Platinum Reverb?
This is an old question, but here it is anyway: the Platinum Reverb is inside the "Legacy" folder which is only available when you press and hold Option/Alt when you click the slot to insert a plugin. Other plugins that "vanished" are also there.
Just finally upgraded logic, had to make sure my third party plug ins would work ( two failed, but oh well...) and I’m enjoying chroma verb a ton..
First time i opened Chroma i realised i wont ever need any other reverb (unit or plugin). Logic effectively ended all my gear and plugin needs... amazing. And Chris... you are awesome!
The only thing i would want is a tutorial on setting up reverb for two guitar tracks. Panned guitars. I see some people mention sending the wet from the right guitar to left and the wet from left guitar to right. Why? Doesnt it create a mess, or does it create clarity? Im thinking post-rock ambient type of guitars.
To be honest, you should experiment especially if you want an interesting ambient guitar style. Having someone give you a recipe for how to mix two guitar tracks probably won’t satisfy you. Typical mix techniques and things like phase correlation and feedback x-fading are often ignored or abused on purpose when going for ambient styles, (which are basically unrealistic styles of mixing). For example, Bose, the speaker/headphone company, one of their patented “tricks” is to abuse or extend phase correlation, or use harmonic processing to fool the brain into hearing fundamental frequencies that aren’t there. If you want advice, get creative and take chances until your ear is convinced. Take a large early reflection from a convolution reverb, add a little pre-delay and remove all of the tail, and replace it with a pair of sends that go to “prepared” plates, or have a send with an impulse response of a grand piano string bed that reacts to frequencies around 3k or so, (or stick a guitar cab in a some room with an open piano and put a mic on the piano harp., and then send it all to channels with random LFOs modulating everything except for the ERs. And don’t care if the sides mix down to mono. You can compensate for that in other ways. That’s the great thing about “post-rock ambient guitar mixing”. Just experiment and be creative. You can’t break it. Mix in 5.1 then down mix. There are so many ways to approach it. IMO, that should be the “cool trick” you figure out that no one’s ever done. That’s what ambient music is all about, IMO. Have fun. Then tell us what you did!

This verb blows em all away. but you gotta know how to set it up.
excellent lesson thank you!
My initial thoughts were this chromaverb sucked, I couldn't get a satisfactory reverb on a vocal track, but this video has shown a few settings I was not aware of. I will have to spend some serious time working through them. I have sound in my head that I hope to get on the track. Cheers
Very helpful - thank you!
So powerful!
Honestly it's sounds very thick and lush, much much better than a lot of third party reverbs. Sounds similar to a lexicon.
You are my density
So the Emagic/ Apple Logic team are behind the scenes quietly still innovating
I had no idea! Now to see whether I can finally get my Novation Launch Control XL to do anything more than adjust fader. Any help would be much appreciated.
Looking for info on chroma web compared to Valhalla reverb . I just can’t tell if vallhalla is a trendy thing and if so if it does anything I can’t do without it (sadly trends must be respected to a degree anyway)
your videos are so nice!!!!!!!
I search and search for a freeze reverb. I just didn’t like the very middle sound of chromaverb, even if I do move the levels.... something about chromaverb sounds very middle. I will definitively give it another try. Thanks for the video!
Try Pianoverb from PSP. That’s a cool freeze verb. I think it might be free too. Or at least there’s a free version. Actually here you go. ua-cam.com/video/1ghkUH0dFCY/v-deo.html
Super appreciate it!
Try loading a “plate” reverb in Chromaverb & see what happens ..
I don't like it very much. i can't make it sound any good with synths after messing for minutes with all knobs and configurations, I get things sounding nice quicker with Space Designer.
