@@luciannasoucy5015 I went back to my home island at the age of 47 [2018]. I left the island with my mother bound for America when I was not even 2 years old. . .so being away for over 45 years I had no idea what I would see. .let alone remember. But it was a memorable time as I posted some videos of my time there on my channel. Loved the bullfights in the street. Hopefully this covid will settle down long enough for the bullfights to resume on the island. It was one of the highlights of my visit. xoxo
@@palmtrees89 It sounds great!! I'd love to go back as well. I've been here over 51 yrs!! Only time was for my 11th. Birthday & my health hasn't been good. God willing I'll hopefully be visiting before my time is up🙏
Spent a week there about ten years ago. Fantastic people! So friendly. I was attending my niece's retirement from the Air Force at Lajes AFB. I can only compare it to Coronado, CA. Tropical, peaceful, and quaint. More country than city. Great experience.
I lived there for a few years until 2008, I've been back every year as we have family that still live there. A most unique place and some of the best people you will ever meet. I contemplate all the time moving my family out there permanently.
Saw your post. My family was stationed there from 1956 to 1958. Everything I was familiar with is mostly gone now. If your serious I would not wait to long.
I was just here for 3 weeks this summer and it feels so good to come back each year and experience the beauty again my dad always has home sickness and I can’t wait to retire and move there
I lived here for 3 1/2 years. Thank you so much for this video. Now I can show my kids (who were born there) what their birthplace looks like. So beautiful. You did a wonderful job capturing the beauty.
My dad was born here :) he immigrated when he was only a few months old but went back and forth between the us and azores quick frequently during his childhood
Casey V Do you know that because your father was born in the Azores, you are also considered a Portuguese citizen. You would just need to show proof of your family lineage to the government to make it official. You are allowed to have dual citizenship.
I lived here for 2 years and I can say it’s the best place I’ve been I grw yo thier while I was a teen and now that I’m I. California again nothing can make u compare
I spent 4 months there in the 70s. We would ride all over the island even up to the top roads. We actually modified ten speed bikes changing gearing, fatter tires and straight handlebars.
Wow, incredible footage! I had visited the Azores as a port-of-call on a cruise and it's still one of my most memorable destinations. We just rented a car and drove around taking in the spectacular scenery. I would have loved to have time to do that hike, just a reason to return :-)
Thanks! We didn't do much hiking due to the weather and soggy ground conditions, so we were happy to squeeze in scenic walks here and there. Terceira is a gorgeous island that definitely warrants further exploration! :)
Such stunning footage! It makes me want to climb along the rocks there. That cave is also so incredible! Will have to add Portugal to my list of places to visit! :)
The cave was a great find... thanks to a friendly local who literally took the time to show us the way! You should definitely consider a visit to Portugal! Such an absolutely gorgeous country!
I was there last year and planned to take a group this past June to visit the Azores. Unfortunately due to COVID-19 it was cancelled. I have re-scheduled for June 2021.
Nice to see the place me and my family where stationed back in the late 80's. A bueatful place to raise a family. I was there for three years. At that time you had to stay off base because there was not enough housing, they starting building just before we got there. It took a year on a list. If you look at the South, East conner of base housing, conner of the fence there is a small dirt road that follows the fence outside the base. We lived in one of the few houses over in that corner near a cliff. On the south side if the base were cottages, we were able to buy one. We paid $7000 for it, but couldn't own the land, we had to pay monthly for it, like rent...$20 dollers! I was a aircraft electrician so we got to go all over the flight line, not many rules back then. We fished off the north side of the runway...big fish! At one time many GI's lost their life falling off cliffs that the military would charge you with a article 15 if you stood within 15 feet of any cliff. We miss that place so much we want to go back. Thanks for the video that place is a hidden jewel!!
Great drone footage, the coastline looks very dramatic. Surprised how green it looks, the countryside actually looks like places further north, even a Scottish Island in parts.
The weather wasn't great during our few days on Sao Miguel, but as soon as we got to Terceira; it cleared up for the most part. Weather is pretty hit or miss in the Azores, but man, what a gorgeous place!!!
It's surprisingly easy to get to the islands from the US and Europe. You should definitely try to make it happen! The Azores are truly gorgeous islands with a fascinating history!
It’s beautiful and honestly it’s totally worth it I’ve been visited once every year since I was 6 months old and now I’m 14 and the Beauty never gets old it’s just such an amazing place❤️
mshevlin32 My husband and I ate there on our trip to the island. It was a really good fresh seafood meal. The place was packed, and the service and food was very good.
Very nice! If you ever visit during spring / early summer, make sure to go for a whale watching trip! It's also something you can't miss! Daily tours are available at the kiosks in the harbor of Angra
This trip was years ago. Our drone (which we no longer have) was registered with the FAA and we didn't need advanced permission to fly, but we were sure to follow all of the local laws regarding flying a drone. uavsystemsinternational.com/pages/portugal-drone-laws
Portanto... Fica basicamente, a um oceano de distancia do Brasil. ;-)

My family was stationed here in the early 90s, and I still dream about the island and overlooking the cliffs. Never been back.
Hopefully, when travel opens up again, you'll get the chance to go back! :)
I lived here as a teen, on the edge of Praia da Vitoria. I fell in love with the island as soon as I arrived. Broke my heart to leave.
I can imagine... broke our hearts to leave too and we were only there a few days!
Me too... till my parents decided to come to the USA & I've only been back when I turned 11yrs. I'm planning on going back for my 60th birthday!!!!!

Were you ever stopped on the rural roads by herds of cattle? The streets are narrow there.
I enjoyed this video of where I was born very much!!! I'm hoping to see it again soon❤
Glad you enjoyed it! Hope you get to visit again, too!

How neat! Going back for a visit any time soon?
I'm fairly recently retired Army, would like to get a Vets perspective of the Azores as I'm looking at moving there permanently
Our family was there from 1956 to 1959. My dad was in the Army assigned to the port detachment there. Quite a lot has changed.

I didn't realise the Azores is so lovely. Portugal is one place I would love to visit.

Thanks! Oh, the coastline is stunning!! Yup, someone else said Ireland... definitely a green/island vibe goin' on!
Açores is in 'North' from the continental land. Is very cental-north, in Atlantic, and is almost more close from Britanic islands, that Portugal. ;-)

what time of year did you travel here?
November
Great drone footage. What drone do you use? The scenery, especially the stone gated farms, reminded us of Western Ireland.
We have a DJI Phantom 4 drone. Yes, Terceira does look a lot like Ireland with its rolling green hills and patterned landscapes.
