Awesome. you had me at "you can unlock them at a tech broker." But glad to know you can buy them too which makes me feel a tad bit better. Thanks for mentioning this. o7
@@evasuser I don't think you can trick the thrusters, on my tests on edsy even if you use drive distributors you can't increase the max mass to the mandalays complete minimum
Thank you for the video. I've counteracted the Thermal Load increase with Low Emissions 5 on my power plant, yes it does make it have 8% more mass, but I've countered it with Stripped Down experimental. It's not quite a maxed-out jump range on my Madalay, but I'm happy with 87 LY I've gotten.
So, I'd like to once again point out that unladen is without fuel, you're not making ANY jump with zero fuel. Should really not use the unladen number as an "actual jump range" indicator, closer to 90 is actually doable, if I stripped literally everything down and off my Mandalay I can hit 90ly jump range just barely, and that's with a full tank of fuel.
I understand this, and so do most people that try to push the jump records. that is all we are talking about, is the 1 jump for a new record. and I agree an actual usable jump range of 90 is more practical
I think the fuel is used before the jump though, so if you have exactly the amount needed in your tank then it gets used, leaving you with an empty tank, and you can jump the max range. Emphasis on "I think" :-)

It's not always 100% the rule but this is what you should usually do for each size: 5, 6, 7 you should use mass manager. 2, 3, 4 you should use deep charge.
'Better' is a subjective point - there are reasons for using one choice over another ... this is the same for all of the options in the engineering possibilities 😃 The 'meta' or most common suggestion may suit your needs, and yet you can sometimes find different ways to engineer, which are 'better' for *you*
@1heUndertaker better in this case meaning maximum jump range. No matter what. That's an objective measurement, though it may change per build and I should have clarified tbf
@1heUndertaker I mean yeah there's always gonna be odd niches but when it comes to fsd engineering, there's no reason to pick anything but mass manager or deep charge for 99% of people. (And if you don't know what to pick between them, just go with mass manager and you'll probably be fine anyway). Stripped down's only purpose in this case is for thruster speed when combined with fast boot and it's so small a difference you are only at most getting an increase of ONE. I have only ever seen this used on joke ships that are trying to reach the maximum speed for that ship and no other purpose. And even then, they usually don't bother with that, as giving up travel time jumping between systems for an extra 2m/s is not worth it. Doubled braced and shielded are for people who don't know groms exist. I have no idea why you would ever need thermal spread on an fsd. A 2% decrease in heat generated while charging isn't going to matter on any ship, any ship that you want to make fuel scoop and charge isn't within a range that 2% would matter.
I just flew 500 kls straight in SCO mode with my Mandalay that has the new double-engineered FSD, and temperature never went above 57%. I don't really know what you are talking about.
So, did you try fuel scooping whilst charging the FSD for a jump...? The 'standard' SCO FSD can fuel scoop and charge for a jump without going above 70-80% heat. The increase in thermal load on the double engineered FSD is most noticeable whilst charging the FSD and fuel scooping - that is what he is talking about ... 😃
I got 99.38 with scoop, AFMU and DSS, and boost to 429. I thought it would melt but I didn't find its thermal handling too bad. 95.36 when adding shield, SRV and heatsink and some QoL on internals.
@@elpapo9744It is a little bit funny that some in the Elite community will complain prior to ever actually knowing what's going on. Annoying but still funny.
@@grandreefer yeah, its like that since forever... But this time fdevs did homework, and made cg rewards being available to brokers right away, and this is something they should done in past. This way no one can whine about being excluded or whatever from rewards, even if they did nothing for cg.

99.38LY is the max. Close, but not quite.
That’s just too close
did you do the trick with the thrusters?
I can't get more than 98.83Ly (1 jump, Mandalay), please post edsy.

thanks for watching

A LONG running community goal:
Deliver new exploration data:
Hell-make it specific l… seeking exploration data on previously undiscovered water worlds … high metal ect

I did the event but it didn’t give me the rewards. I did 3 runs on the titan and every time it didn’t record my contribution
I had the same problem a couple of times on the last day. I play open play only, but had to bite the bullet and switch to PG to get my credits for damage. It was getting pretty buggy in open on the last day
My super light Hauler can do almost 70ly now.
Me "OneJumpAconda" jumps 97-98ly now.
Didn't get the 100ly mark unfortunately
Missed opportunity on FDEV side to get that 100LY I think. Still very cool though.
I was able to reach 99.21 ly with the new fsd and mandalay. I think that's the maximum. With anaconda max jump is a little less
So i failed the bombing run on titan only had 1day to try it and it was destroyed but i can still unlock the fsd drives?
yes, you can purchase them for materials at human tech brokers. I will be doing a how to this weekend, when I am off work
Wait, so mass manager is better than deep charge? I never checked. Oops
Deep charge works better on smaller FSD. 3 and below i think.

Not quite 100 lys. Mansdaly will get 99.5 without fuel but you may need some of that.
I think the maximum is 99.38 fully draining the tank. If it's possible to scrape out another .12 I'd like to know how!

my min-max was 98.82 but I couldn't grade 5 the life support. With how much I stripped it, it's a terrible explorer but decent travelling ship
