- Join me on board a ScotRail service on possible one of the worlds most scenic train journey’s - the west highland line from Glasgow to Mallaig.
Unfortunately due to a couple of delays on route the bit between Fort William and Mallaig ended up being on the dark.

This channel is super underrated
Cheers mate, and thanks for watching - appreciated.
Thank you for posting this, you have done a great job on the production. As I have my own channel I know what it takes to produce a video of this calibre.
Fyi I was born in Partickbthen moved to Knightswood (Westerton Station), played football all around that area and served my apprenticeship in John Brian’s shipyard.
Your attention to detail of the landscape and lineside /station coverage will provide lots of information for the modeller. I hope you enjoyed the trip as much as I did.
Cheers
Charlie
Stunning scenery, and Scotrail can't be arsed to wash the windows. Time and time again.
Always absolutely love that trip, and tend to take it a couple of times a year. Love the Oban line too (which we last did when Scotrail had their half price sale on back in February). I prefer to get the early train up to make the best of the day, and usually, for us, it's a daytrip. Fingers crossed that you get better weather next time. Autumn can be a spectacular time for the foliage and wonderful light on the hillsides, although June is fantastic for the long days and just missing the high tourist season.
As for the uncomfy seats, I think I've travelled so much on their services that my body must have become Scotrail seat shaped now. I don't even notice it any more. Safe travels.
Hi, thanks for watching - appreciated. Hopefully so, I will be doing it in the summer along with thte Oban line too - it's such a wonderful part of the country.
I took this trip in 2021 and I was not disappointed. The breathtaking scenery more than makes up for the uncomfy seats in my opinion. Also I found legroom was fine. Not to mention the nice clickery clack noise on the old jointed rails is always a delight to hear
Hi mate, thanks for watching - appreciated.
really nice journey from the train cabin shooting all the stunning scenery outside and share with us- nice job thanks so much
Hi mate, thanks for watching - appreciated
That was great and brought back memories when we did it on The Jacobite steam train in 2020 just stunning 👍👍
Hi mate, thanks for watching, apprecited.
Thanks for sharing I will be looking up this journey ..
Hi Tracy, thank you for watching, much appreciated. Try it, the whole journey is spectacular to say the least, I'm back in Scotland next moth to complete the journey - Fort William to Mallaig so look out for that.
I definitely would like to go to Glasgow. I have been to Edinburgh.
Wow, what a stunning journey. I’ve got to try it sometime. The UK has so much to offer - thankfully, we have travel bloggers on UA-cam, because I wouldn’t have known about most of these places.
Hi mate, thanks for watching - apprecaited. If you ever get the chance I'd highly recommend it.
Good clear explanation and descriptions. Next time try Scottish Citylink from Glasgow to Oban and/or Glasgow to Fort William.
Fort William route. You go along the Clyde to Balloch and close to Loch Lomond then Crianlarich. From there through stunning Glencoe to Kinlochleven. In the old days the road went high on the south side....then along north bank. A few times the RAF jets would be below road level when doing training flights. Now the bridge saves miles and time...The last few miles into Fort William is scenic.
Hi mate, thanks for watching appreciated. I have Oban in my plans for next year but managed to get in Mallaig to Glasgow via Fort William just before the storms hit. Such a beautiful journey..
Hi, I have a suggestion for a travel video if you would like to do it one day. It’s going from London Liverpool to Southend Victoria with greateranglia, and then from Southend Central back to Liverpool street with c2c. Then, you could compare both journeys and see what journey is better.
Hi mate, thanks for watching - appreciated. My wife is actually from Southend so I am down that way quite a bit so i can add this to my 'to do list'.
Wow looks a great journey and a great ticket price. I travel from Manchester to Glasgow a couple of times a year and the only direct service is TPE. Needless to say ive had a few free journeys!
Hi Sue, thanks for watching - much appreciated. Yeah, it's a stunning line and I know what you mean about TPE 😂
Brilliant video did you know ScotRail has an alcohol ban !!!
Hi mate, thanks for watching - appreciated.
You are entitled to a full refund if the train is 1 hour or more late. This happened to me on a trip to Stockport from Norwich.
Hi mate, thanks for watching appreciated - yeah i know, Delay Repay is very useful and used it many times.
When you revisit maybe use The Jacobite,
Hi mate, thanks for watching - it's on my list.
Great video, but shame about the breakdown at Crianlarich. At least you did get a full refund for the lateness ! Scotrail has a real problem with its DMU fleets, for there has been talk of replacing the 156s on the West Highland line with 158s. Unfortunately this cannot happen before Scotrail orders new bi-mode trains for the new route in Fife to Leven. That will enable a cascade of sorts, but this could be a very long time away. The 156s have been very good units, and the refurbishment was o.k. but better seats with more spacing should have been installed for this route. I wonder if you will try a ride in the cycle spaced 153s which are starting to appear on the line to Fort William and Mallaig ?!!!
Thanks for watching - very much appreciated.
Do they have a lift to save going down all those steps with Cases?
Hi mate, thanks for watching - appreciated. Yes, there's a lift just to the left of the stairs.
Why are there tickets sticking up on the seats?
Zero 🦝 0:01
Hi thanks for watching - appreciated. Some seat reservations
Thanks!
What a horrible train for such a long journey, those seats will leave you in pain. What's ridiculous is how rail companies say "we do it because of fire regulations" meanwhile the man in charge of that said it's not they're just cost cutting.
Why on earth can they afford to built a train, but not have any money left over for a seat cushion? It really doesn't make sense.
Scenery AND a full refund , win , win !
Hi mate, thanks for watching - appreciated
Corrour, Bridge of Orchy, Rannoch and George (note the singular) Square- all incorrect spellings- very amateurish. And Glenfinnan Vinduct [Viaduct]
Seriously? Lmao. The guy busted his arse off with the video. Do a vid yourself, this does not mean an only fans video
Amateurish?! I wish i was even that....i only travel the UK and Europe as a from of escapism from my full job which takes up to 70-80 hours a week, so to edit and produce anything is a miracle, I am in no way perfect, nobody is including you but as I am a 'glass half full' kinda person I'll look to the many many positives of this video instead of the very limited minor issues.
Cheers mate - apprecaited.
@@TheGeordieTravels no issue. Usually I am a laid back person but when I see some dumb arse trying to whale onto something which is well put together and well thought of, I need to say something. Stuart is nothing but a dunce. If he had some video up and people were calling him amateurish I am sure he'd have a few words said
Interesting content, spoilt by numerous spelling errors. Attention to detail before publishing?
Hi mate, thnaks for wtaching - very muhc apreciated.
