Giles says in this video that there is a rumor that besides the drumming by Ringo that Paul played all the instruments on MICHELLE - why does he not confirm this or unconfirm this rumor - he has access to the track, the original tape, the original tape box and the original tracking sheet -- I looked it up and I read that Paul played acoustic and bass guitar, John played acoustic guitar, George played the electric guitar solo that was written by George Martin and acoustic guitar, Ringo on drums, lead and backing vocal Paul, backing vocal John and George. Giles just throws this rumor out and leaves it there. Paul should have insisted it was released as a single and over ruled John because at the 1967 Ivor Novello Awards, "Michelle" won in the category of "the Most Performed Work" of 1966, ahead of "Yesterday". "Michelle" won the Grammy Award for Song of the Year in 1967, against competition from "Born Free", "The Impossible Dream", "Somewhere My Love" and "Strangers in the Night".
Good teacher
what a switched on guy !!
Brilliant.
George Martin's son?
Thought it was capo on 5th fret
Best explanation ever! Thanks!
Excellent.
Very precise
this is authentic, the real deal
It’s capo 5th fret. Why complicate things....? Also the 2nd chord on the verse is a Bb7/#9 in 6th position -> 68x799
You should capo the fifth fret - you can even find photos of the session to show that’s what they did.
bien parlé !
Paul showed how to play the intro in an interview at a college within the last 2-3 years. Why change it. It was not played like that at all. He used a jazz chord shown to him by another musician. I just do not understand why the true version isn’t shown. Makes me dubious of the other songs.
Capo 5th fr.
Yes...it’s a Bb7/#9 chord. Much more interesting
That intro sucks and is a waste of time.
