I’m 62 and ride Stillwell several times a week. So I get to thinking that maybe I could do a little VR training.. Watch some GoPro POV rides at Stillwell and get an idea of how to go faster and deal with some technical areas more aggressively... I went for it, today, on one downhill switchback especially- no brakes. This evening as she is peroxiding my back and admiring my swollen & bruised elbow Lisa lays down the law. No More Videos. This is one of the videos I watched.
I never knew how to cross the train tracks when it came to that part to go to stillwood. Pretty cool. How do u get back if its a one way track ? Where did u turn?
I ride to Stilwell from Plainview, go to Sunnyside trail up to Jericho then right into Stilwell, way back all the way down to Massapequa Preserve, then back to Plainview, it takes forever for being in bad shape right now but Im getting better
It is on Jericho turnpike. Just east of stop and shop. The sign out front says trailview park. It's a good way to get to Stillwell especially at the time I go with all of the school traffic.
Thank you Jim. The front and rear both have a little bit of cushion. Not nearly as much as a FS bike. I choose fat just because I have more fun on it, not because it's more comfortable. I really enjoy pushing hard in the turns and feeling confident that my tires are going to stick. I also enjoy the efficiency of a rigid bike because I climb out of the saddle pretty often.
hey man! Great to see other crazy people up and out riding in the cold weather. Would love to ride with you sometime. I work at Bicycle Playground In Huntington. Message me and and we'll exchange numbers! would love to ride with you sometime!
I agree. Those 3 jumps in the beginning of the loop are not fun anymore. I feel like I was pressured into doing the skinny because I know a lot of people that have done it. But it really isn't safe with the rotting wood as soon as you get up on top of it and there isn't a straight run up either. I don't think I will try it again. 1 time was enough and it probably took 5 mintues of run ups to actually do it.

Awesome
Nice work on the skinny. Hope you had fun at Caumsett. I ended up doing just over 12 miles. Was a perfect day.
. Way to persevere on the log. Thx for the vid.

I should have clarified. Only the Stillwell loop is 1 way. I go back the save way I got there after I go under the railroad tracks.
Next time I go to Stillwell I could screw that log down if it helps. Put some 6 or 8 inch screws would hold for a long time.

That's a great ride. Good job
Buena habilidad con la Fat ;) Me suscribo
Where is that parking lot where you start/end? I normally just go to the lot near shower hs and the soccer fields. That begging part looks fun

that log setup is gone now .. sadly
Great video!!! Does the rear end of the fat bike have some cushion like a FS bike would? If not, then what makes you choose the fatty over the FS?

You still like the 9.6 ?
I loved it. I have a 9.8 now
What bike is that ? Btw you should stretch first ... bigtime .
It's a Trek Farley 9.8. I usually stretch when I get home.
Are your times faster on fs mtb or fat bike?
They are almost identical. I was a bit faster on my Pivot 29er

nice commitment on the skinny, I wish the rouge builders there would stop building janky features though, someones gonna get hurt.

the three jumps are going to be fixed once the soil conditions improve..
I need more tips on that section (10:35) :)
We might need to ride it together
😋
must be the fat tires that made you so hesitant on that log...
Hahahaha. I really should not even have attempted that by myself. I am glad I did it though .
Stop talking to yourself! People may think that you’re crazy 🤪. ... were you wearing your winter boots?
Yes. Lake 303
