If you examine the K&N it relies on two metal flexible mesh sheets that have a durable paper in between them, if something gets through it's because "someone" damaged the metal "somehow"🤔. When it's full of dirt from not being cleaned you'll notice a lack of power since you don't like lifting up the engine hood every 3-6months 😂!

    Do I have to wait till the air filter is completely dry to spray it?

    • @tedmarakas2626
      @tedmarakas2626 2 роки тому +10

      YES !!! only spray the outside part of the filter and NOT the INSIDE. Otherwise the oil can get sucked in the intake and damage your air mass sensor. The outside is the side that traps the dirt and contaminants using the filter fabric and oil. The inside stays clean.
      If you're in doubt, you can spray the inside, just a tiny bit a VERY LIGHT film, do not saturate. Let it dry in the sun for a couple of hours and instal. Be sure that when you clean it, spray both sides with the solvent but rinse from the INSIDE pushing out. You don't want the dirt to go through the fabric. It is on the outside of the filter, let it stay there and push it out with a steady stream of water. I hope this helps. Cheers.

    …. ALWAYS rinse from the clean side to the dirty side first, then finish by rinsing the other way.

Also, you're NOT supposed to spray oil on the filter side towards the MAF side of the intake. The oil stops the dirt using the fabric. The inside doesn't need anything, no dirt is going the opposite direction and no need for the oil..

    do NOT run the water through the way the air goes, as she says. thats just stupid. you're pushing dirt all the way through the filter. to do so, you're opening up small hole and making them bigger

    I used this K&N one time and it damaged my air flow sensor. It was the costly lesson learned just to save few bucks. When I sold the car I asked the guy if he wanted this filter, oil can and cleaner for it. He said no. That's how bad it is. Maybe it is good for an old engine that do not have an hi-tech air sensor.
