You guys sound SO good! All of you! A fretless upright bass might sound more personal and more traditional, but the Fender electric bass intonation is SOOO much better.
Wow, just heard Taylor and group on 'pandora' and had to check this out.........Very glad I did, very original!!! All are fine musicians in their own right.
A lot depends on genetics I don’t have the hands of a great piano player so did jazz drumming instead! But doesn’t mean I still don’t love playing jazz piano
@@DutchKC9UOD How do a good pianists hands look like...? Taylor has small hands as opposed to someone like Art z Oscar Peterson... is it the shape or what...?
@@ntandoscrayonbox Generally if your index finger is longer than your middle finger, that doesn't mean you can't play good but the best can do more than an octive!
Dude I love your style! (assuming this is Talyor's channel, if it's a fan channel then you know what I mean) Found you after someone said I look like a really young version of you haha Seriously the vibe is real, thank you for being an awesome music human
Cripes, I thought this was Robert Glasper when I heard it in the background. That's not exactly a compliment. I guess everyone's having a good time, but I've heard what these guys can really do. Maybe this is being ironic!
The sound of the bass on this recording is irritating to me. Part of the problem with electric bass is that every fretted guitar is only partially in tune, so a large number of the notes are unavoidably off pitch. A real bass can be played perfectly on pitch, if the player is able. Also the sound of that big, complex wooden instrument simply cannot be reproduced by a speaker in a particle board box. The bass in this sounds very unmusical-a lot of the notes just sound like a thud with no real identifiable note. Another thing is that it's so much easier to play the electric bass, which leads people to play differently: here there is little space in the playing, too many notes.
I play both. Neither one is easier than the other. Playing like Anthony Jackson on the electric is a lot harder than playing like Esperanza Spalding on the Upright. Sorry.
Respectfully but completely disagree, I love the bass' tone. Maybe you have perfect pitch or rather better relative pitch than me, but to my ears the overall intonation sounds fine, nothing objectionable,

I’m in awe, as always when Taylor and Eric play together ❤
This trio is on a whole nother level
I love this tune and especially the driving beat------
Remembering this special man….his mother and his commitment to the Bay Area music community.
"Remembering"? You're making it sound like he's dead, or something.
Amazing live audio.
Great job! 👌🏻

Wow!
I'm not used to electric bass in a piano trio setting... which is fine of course, a different thing... and the whole piece is so nice...
I think it worked here.
was going to say the same thing. The upright bass has such a deep beautiful signature. But this music is very good anyway.

This is a jazz trio, but the tune is more R&B, which is why the electric fits here.
@Tee Lu, he doesn't, but he clearly thinks he does.
