It's not really about that. He's elite no doubt, but he didn't fight once from their last fight. Alex fought 3 more times. When the champ is more active than the contenders, it just looks weird imo. He needs to be active. At least one win, cuz it looks bad, if he loses again.

Alex vs Jan 2 next. First fight was at altitude so both will perform better in the rematch and it will be fun. Jan gave Poatan the hardest fight so far at LHW and he's a former champ who's got little time left. Ankalaev can fight Jamahal or Rakic or someone to qualify for the title shot. His needs to earn it.

His recent losses in the UFC are to Texeira and Pereira, which Pereira was a controversial loss because it shoulda been a no contest or draw. Prohazcha got KOd by him too and they gave him a rematch in no time. Błachowicz was the only opponent that gave Poatan a run for his money and you guys claim that he doesn’t deserve a rematch? NO, that's who pereria should fight first, AKALAEV(who will smash pereria on the mat, or oezdemir who is newly improved with better coaches, keep in mind oezdemir gave Cormier huge problems at different times in their fight. Now he is a better fighter.

@@annna6553 Jan struggled against someone who just got brutally KO'd 3 months before, someone who he has YEARS more MMA experience than and who has never fought at LHW before.
Also Jan looked so gassed at the end of that fight he was literally on the ground gasping for air at the end of the fight. Couldn't do anything on the ground; no GNP or submission attempts. Jans stock went down after that fight in my opinion.
All in all it was a close fight that could have gone either way. Does Jan deserve a rematch? Technically but Ank is more deserving of a title shot in my opinion. Feel free to prove me otherwise!
Jan won, corrupt judge, they fought at high altitude. Jan split with Ankalaev who literally is a far superior wrestler than jan. A russian olympic team wrestler. He would destroy pereria. Blachowicz will beat pereria again IF he can come back healthy. He has maybe 2+ years left of fighting if he can stay healthy after his comeback.
