Chris Wolff What exactly is terrific about these two? For the most part, they were terribly miscast. The show could have been an actual hit if the roles had gone to 2 more suited actors. Who didn't underplay or overplay severely. Russell for example was incredibly stiff and wooden in this scene (like she's just reading the lines). Rhys goes way beyond the mark when he practically spits in her face with the "I fit in!" speech; his facial expressions are comical rather than natural to elicit sympathy. A great shame as these few pages were shot and cut together quite well. The production aspect of the series was first-class, but the music could've been more varied and incorporated electronic pieces. It was too heavy on the cello.
Potato Sack I’ve seen it. I’m not joking. There were times when they were tolerable; few times, they were good. I *wanted* to like them, but was drawn to the supporting cast. They were the real stars of the show and deserved more recognition. I hope *they* get their own series as leads.
@@AirwolfArchive how i kind of see it is that the characters themselves have been hiding for so long that playing their roles/aliases is way more comfortable to them than actually being their authentic selves and expressing their true emotions because they don't even know what that means. The first season is the first time they even started being slightly open to each other despite being partners for ~15 years. doing that for so long does something to a person. it's nuanced.
Matthew Rhys' few scenes where he shows blood-boiling anger are actually quite terrifying. Never thought Phil would look at Libby with the same look he gave Paige about respecting Jesus more than her parents.
This show was incredibly good!!! I came late to it, but spent days binge-watching it - I couldn’t stop!😂 Other than Paige (who annoyed the heck out of me; the whole pastor business drive me mad), the cast was phenomenal. Matthew Rhys is fantastic in Perry Mason too. He is a convincingly explosive actor.
This show should be shown in acting classes. Every actor is just terrific.

@@AirwolfArchive I sincerely hope you are joking. Just watch the scene when Philip gets angry at Paige.

@@AirwolfArchive Jesus Christ mate stop trying to make yourself sound good (if it's not sarcasm)!!

Well said.
I love her inner conflict when it comes to her commitment to her country and her deep down love for Phillip.
Philip is viewed as 'the soft one', but when he gets mad, he's scary as hell.
The only reason this ranks under his explosion towards Paige was that he’s yelling at Elizabeth outside with no enclosed space to amplify his anger.
The "soft one" broke a dead woman's bones in order to fit her in a suitcase:)
@@juniorgod321 right? He is no soft at all!!!
Oh he is not soft honey, not at all!!!
there’s nothing more terrifying than a quiet man’s anger
I keep forgetting how intense s1 was. It's amazing!
This was the moment I was sure, this was one of the greatest shows of all time.
these two are magic
Best couples among the Ozarks couple and of course, Malcolm in the Middle

I agree whole heartedly! The Paige/Pastor storyline was ridiculous and Paige totally annoyed me.
Matthew Rhys is electric!!
it's time for a re-watch of the series...
I cannot imagine being an agent in present day US. Even in the crazy 80s.....it must have been intensity every damn day.
amazing scene and also his accent breaks on the like which is v. cute
I mean the entire neighbourhood knows they're spies lol...
Powerful
"I FIT IN!" > "YOU RESPECT JESUS MORE THAN US!" if both were indoors.
I’m not in the states no way for me to stream this show anywhere am seriously considering buying it on iTunes even tho it’s $80 😭
That show is sooo good, definitely recommend it if you can find a way to see the whole series.
Soap2Day is a life saver
