- "Come on. This only works if you let go too." Get ready for the final scene of the final episode of Mr. Robot. Goodbye, friend....
From Mr Robot Season 4 Episode 13 "Hello Elliot" Elliot hides the alternate Elliot's body in a storage container, intent on taking the alternate Elliot's place and marrying Angela. A police officer, Dominique, attempts to arrest Elliot after she discovers the alternate Elliot's body. Elliot escapes to Coney Island, where he discovers that there was no wedding. Mr. Robot explains to Elliot that the world they are in is not the parallel world Whiterose spoke of, but rather an illusion created by Elliot with the intention of keeping "the real Elliot" trapped. Bewildered and confused, Elliot wakes up in Krista's office. Krista (who is a manifestation of Elliot's mind at this point) explains that the Elliot we have known since the beginning of the series is not the real Elliot, but a persona called "The Mastermind" that the real Elliot created to deal with his rage and anger at the world. However, this persona decided to take over and trapped the real Elliot in the Utopian world, getting rid of Darlene, who is the real Elliot's strongest connection to reality; Krista explains that the Mastermind must give control back to the real Elliot, but he refuses as the world collapses. The Mastermind wakes up in the hospital, where Darlene reveals that Whiterose is dead, her machine was destroyed, and she knew that the Mastermind had taken over. Accepting his identity, the Mastermind returns to Elliot's mind with the rest of his personas. The real Elliot wakes up in the hospital and is greeted by Darlene.

The ending makes Darlene one of the most ride or die family members in the history of media. She literally played along with the masterminds plan just because she loved being with her brother and hoped she could pull the real Elliot back out. There aren't any other stories of familial love as strong as this, she helped take down the most powerful and dangerous people for her brother.

facts! The ending is not only the perfect conclusion for Elliot but also for Darlene and their relationship. She is one of the most underrated characters. I don't know if you've read the Mr. Robot Red Wheelbarrow book, but they revealed a moment of her childhood and it hit me so hard. she is a real one
The one who wakes up in the end is the real Sam Esmail in a meta symbolic way, the creator and writer of the show as an auteur artist, actually wrote himself and his struggle in filmmaking in a symbolic way. It is all meta. That's why Elliot watches HIMSELF in the big cinema screen, he (Sam) is watching his own creation (The show Mr. Robot) passing away in front of him as the show aproaches an end. Brilliant ending. Meta symbolism of filmmaking and artistic struggle is so strong in this scene. It reminds me of Twin Peaks and Blue Velvet ending. Art binds human souls together.
No one could have done the role of Elliott Alderson better than Rami Malek
Wow I never thought about this. I always thought of Bryan Cranston for his brilliant role in Walter White, thinking no other role is quite as irreplaceable. But Rami Malek as Elliot Alderson really is just as unique and I literally can't think of one person who could have portrayed all the emotions of Elliot so perfectly. Favorite show of all time.
@@jhzwwe123 Andrew Lincoln for Rick Grimes is also irreplaceable ngl, same goes for Jon Bernthal as Punisher/Shane
Alderson
He was not doing anything, he was living like Elliott 🥹
truf. He was born for this role
This is a bittersweet ending. Imagine finding out that you're not "real" and that you're just another personality that makes up a whole person. It's heartbreaking.
and it was in your face like literally the whole time from the first episode
We all are , but having one personality each is what makes us who we are . Basically we are all one energy we all are the best at something, he was just choosing who he wanna be instead creating it . So just let go this works only if u let go :)
The Jungian Shadow.
It’s existentially terrifying
That's what makes it a masterpiece. At the beginning, the purpose of the series was to take down E Corp and Dark Army, but then all characters die and in the end we only have Darlene and Elliot (of course we have Leon, Dom and Krista). The original purpose of the whole show was the relationship between Darlene and Elliot, and Elliot's fake personalities to cope with his life. It's crazy that actually didn't get to see the real Elliot. This is literally one of my favorite shows, it is so good!
So rare for a tv show to tell a complete story from start to finish. Definitely in the same league as breaking bad.
This and Orphan Black, which I strongly recommend!
Infinitely clear of breaking bad.
And the last kingdom too
I agree
This is only because the writers wrote the whole show before filming, knowing how the characters begin and end, and not losing the meaning of the show, tell the whole story. Most shows improvise and add more seasons after the first seasons are already filmed and are doing well and get told by their boss, AMC for example, "hey, we made huge profit from the first seasons, make more seasons" then adding things to the story that were never supposed to happen when the first original draft was written, and as a result, the new made up seasons are out of sync and is off, and feels off to the viewer.

He says "Come on this only works if you let go too" It is really admirable that how also "us" were with the Elliot since the first episode. Simply this episode and clip will always be my favorite. And the show too. One of the things that stuck with me is the song, Outro by M83, every time i listened to this song, the last clip will always pops up in my head. It’s like the song was meant for this. And we might never see ‘elliot’ , either that is a good ending or a curiosity that will never be answered. Overall, Rami and Carly are truly incredible actors, alongside all the rest i couldn’t mention. And Sam Esmail, you sir, are probably one of the most brilliant person i’ve ever known. Mr. Robot was and still is a masterpiece. Thank you. ❤️🙏✨
This show deserves so much more praise than i sadly think it will ever get. This show should be one of the first brought up when speaking of the greatest shows from beginning to end. I really hope more people especially those who appreciate good tv stumble across this and give it the time it deserves. Truly never felt more moved by a tv show than when I watched this series for the first time. This felt like an experience during a period of my life more than it felt like watching characters on a screen. Thank you and well done Sam Esmail. You left quite a mark in my life and clearly many others through this work.
There are so many shows where the finale is terrible and people don’t know how to end their shows. This last season and this final episode answered every question so beautifully. The song Outro I know has been used in so many films and tv shows, but this song represents the whole series. Incredible show and I’m in the middle of replaying it.
Seems like yesterday that the year was 2015 and Mr. Robot first came out. I cannot believe this year marked 8 years already. Alot has changed over the years. I am very, truly sad this show had to come to an end. Mr. Robot will always have a special place in my heart!
This show is so CRIMINALLY underrated. Absolute perfection through and through
When this show was first premiering, my best friend told me to check it out, she thought id like it. Whenever we spoke we always greeted each other with "hello friend" for over a decade. One of the best endings I've ever seen in my life, whether in a movie or a series, the ending left me gloomy. The greatest thing I've seen in my life, and I thank life for having taken me to see this series, from the first chapter to the last, how wonderful.
One of the best stories ever told
Easily one of the best, most meaningful endings in cinema history
The only show I ever ended crying on. Just all out bawling when Darlene says "Hello Elliot."
Whenever I randomly remember Darlene coming up and saying "Hello Elliot" my throat tightens, they managed to make a very impactful ending scene
Nothing will make me feel quite like how this show made me feel.
I loved watching this show, I used to come back every day from high school hop on my laptop and watch an episode or two of Mr Robot. I was going through emotional baggage at the time so it was nice to hear "hello friend", when I was having big feelings that I didnt understand with nobody around. There were so many complex characters that seem so real. I love Sam Esmail, I love the occasional arab rep or themes from him, It's always so nice to see that on screen being arab myself. I know it's absolutely not the same thing, but Elliot's struggle with being in control of his personality and mind was somewhat relatable, with me being a teenager still figuring out who I am, and in a place like the middle east. I had become this quiet observer that watched people instead of interacting with them, I used to stare at walls rather than look people in their eyes and when asked something I wouldnt know what to answer. I couldn't connect with people, I didnt feel that I or anyone was safe. Always having thoughts of all the flaws in our society, what it would take to solve them and duties that I wanted to take responsibility for. Just, always living in my head. Kind of like Elliot. I dont mean to undermine mental ilness, and it's not my intent to say such struggles are "relatable". I believe Elliot was written to be a protagonist, a character that the audience connect with, see the world in his eyes and, see themselves in him at times. And that's how I saw myself in Elliot. Never will I forget how much this show has impacted me, whilst having such lovable memorable characters, beautifully executed themes and stories, hard hitting scenes and emotional whirlpools. I'm trying to be kinder to myself now, and relearn to open up to people again. Thank you friend, thank you Elliot, and thank you Sam Esmail.
Honestly nothing compares with this ending. I couldn't believe how good Season 4 was and this is the greatest ending to a TV show I've ever seen in my life. I don't cry at things usually but this made me burst into tears like a child both times I finished the show. I can't explain how powerful this ending is to me
Very few endings are better than this one for sure. Only ones I can think of off the top of my head are like Felina from Breaking Bad and the ending of The Sopranos
Breaking Bad andBCS have equally good finales
A masterpiece ever since Breaking Bad...
This is the best scene I have ever seen in any movie, show, or anything fiction. It will never be beaten for me imo
so at the end does it mean like all his personalitys are one and thats what makes him the normal elliot?
@@zaibuza2907I think so along those lines, it’s about being fully present and facing the world with his true whole self, not any idea of an identity, no protector, no persecutor, no vigilante, all of them together into one true Elliot, taking in the world in its raw connected form and trying to absorb reality as it is rather than forcing a distorted view on it to hide and protect yourself from all the trauma, in the end, the scared hurt little boy was able to finally come out and had no choice but to cry seeing the beautiful world before him and seeing someone who’s loved him and showed up for him like all parts of himself (like the vigilante Elliot we knew) have loved him and showed up for him despite everything, it’s that love that makes it possible to be present c stay connected, and change the world, by being a true part of the world

When I first saw this, I thought the song choice was great but then I looked up the lyrics and suddenly my tears started streaming down because the lyrics couldn't have been more meaningful and apt for the scene:

Facing tempests of dust, I'll fight until the end
Creatures of my dreams, raise up and dance with me
Now and forever
I'm your king
What a masterfully produced show!
An absolute masterpiece that pushed the medium of television to a new bar of cinematic quality. Sam Esmail crafted a darkly beautiful world that will be discussed and analyzed for many years to come.
I really didn't expect the bladerunner ending to Mr Robot, this series was overall very well written and cinematically beautiful in every shape and form for the 4 seasons that is was.
The thing that I got instantly is that we, the viewers, are just all the personalities in his mind, manifestations of and extensions of the one true self that is him. The way he speaks directly to the viewer from the very beginning and how he states at the end that it only works if we let go too.
This may turn out to be the greatest ending to a series in media history. You’re not just watching a show…you are part of it…this is a step above breaking the fourth wall…this is the most innovative technique I have ever been witness to and I love a lot of films and series but there is nothing like this.
Huge props to everyone involved in this project including all the viewers without which there would be no mass personality disorder affecting the character and protecting him.
This to me is still the best show I ever watched. I am also so glad that I found it when the first season aired so I didn’t binge it all but rather lived through it, grew with it and had years of build up to this extraordinary ending. I keep wanting to rewatch it for how much of a masterpiece it is but the initial experience I had with the show can never be topped. The best of the best.
I'm so glad I managed to go through season 2. Season 3 and 4 were sooo good, and this series finale stands alongside Six Feet Under's and The Shield's. One of the best ever.
The las words of this show gave me chills. Just the journey, loss, and grief that Elliot's personality had to endure to ensure he wakes up to a better world.

When “hello Elliot” was said. I broke down crying. This show was a masterpiece and rewatching it again… it still makes me cry.
I miss my friend. He was 1st real Facebook friend and because of this show, I met him! He's no longer here, but he's here in my heart and soul!!! His name is Alex and I honor him very gratefully
Good Bye Friend
goodbye friend, it has been a ride, wish you the best of whatever you do in life
the reason why I`ve bought this tv show on DVD. Watching it over and over and over again.
