this should be a ted talk.
😂
😂😂😂😂😂
This is killer. I got to hang out with him a few years ago and he is a polite, sincere, and amazing dude just as he is in this interview. Great work.
So jealous,I've met him and had a brief chat,I was just trying not to say something silly haha
He's the real deal. I somehow managed to sneak my way backstage at a TX show in 2007 or so, and was out of my mind drunk, unfortunately. I had been telling folks in the "pre green room green room" that I wanted to meet CTT. 1 hour later after sitting there drinking the backstage beer, out comes Courtney to sit down with me and have a glass of wine. Clearly seeing I was too inebriated to continue drinking, he got me a water instead, chatted with me graciously for 10 minutes, and headed back. As unbelievably trashed as I was, for him to give me the time of day and treat me like a normal person who'd just had a bit too much was really cool of him, I think.
Just watched Dig! Last night for the first time in years. Love how honest and specific Courtney still is about everything when he speaks. Tons of respect.
The Dandy Warhols gave made a ton of great music. Courtney's quite a unique dude. Half of me loves him. I think half of him loves him. He has certainly lived the life. They are proper artists... the whole band... and have that otherness that you want in your rock stars.
lololol
I know what you mean by “that otherness” they just have that other level of energy and rock n roll in their songs that most bands don’t have. You can hear so many instruments in their songs and it doesn’t sound like a scrambled mess of instruments put together they make it go together so we’ll.
I enjoy the Dandy's energy, they have a unique sound and they celebrate working at their own creative pace - it's refreshing! I want them to keep making music on their terms, which is taking life at a relatable and manageable pace to most other working adults. Being a Rock Star is the same as having a creative job/gig - the fact they are still making great music is a celebration !!
I dont care what he says or how great he thinks he is.. the Dandy warhols music is fricking awesome!!!
That you, Courtney?
This is absolutely brilliant. I don't know enough about Courtney to understand if he's being tongue-in-cheek about some of this stuff but it doesn't matter. This interview is like performance art. It's like a lost scene from Spinal Tap and that's good enough for me.
👌🏼🤣👌🏼🤣
It’s art. I agree
Man, I love Courtney. Such a loose, fun, honest dude. Great work, yet again.
Nice of him to wear a tie.
He pinched it off a hobo on the way to the interview
this dude loves him some some him.
This Guy is a great talent in music, The Dandy so under rated Band
I never heard a better explanation of a particular creative process.. and I've been with musicians and drugs the most..
Yeah me neither. This is amazingly detailed.
Then you must be on the same product he is to make sense of that
Yeah i can understand him perfectly. @@standupstraight9691
I'm not on any product I just understand exactly what he's explaining.
@@standupstraight9691
Sounds like a good place to work.
This guy is Hilarious. I wish I could hangout with this dude for just one day.
With no other band even close, my favorite active rock band and TT a favorite songwriter.
wow, you need to get out more.
@@antonfjordson nice to hear from the third best Portland band.
Man I’ve been waiting for this video for all my musical life!
Cool tie, looks so cool, cool man cool... cool video, super cool, sounds cool... cool...
cool down
Think if I ever make something out of myself and my art, I’ll reference this video as one of my single biggest inspirations. Not a big dandy Warhol’s fan but i fucking admire the hell out of Courtney.
👌🏼🤣
I totally love this man.
I got a T Shirt sent to me this 2020 year ( took almost two months in the mail ...Portland USA to Fremantle Australia ... brilliant band ..hilarious interview ...love the weed commentary ....go the Dandys ...👽👽👽👽👽
I LOVE THIS BAND! So real !😂❤
shimmery clouds . . . i finally realized why i return to the dandy warhols' music repeatedly. SPACE in all its forms.
Love me some Dandies.
The bad ass days of this epic talent and Anton Newcomb with BJM.
I love this
giving "smack the lip... Waapah! Just drop down... Swoopah! "
haha - love you courtney TT !!!
Impressive interview 👍
Not my cuppa but give the man credit, he really can articulate his creative process.
So cool, candid
He looks like he should be working at the Feminist Bookstore in Portlandia.
Fred armisen could not spoof this, the reality is beyond comedy.
Very cool guy. Appreciate his interviews. He seems quite honest and has good insight on things.
The Dandy Warhol's are better than The Strokes.
No contest
Really great interview, I've never seen an artist being so honest about the creative process...
love.
Brilliant guy damn now I know why I love Dandy Warhols
Timeless record forever and ever: Dandys Rule OK
Brilliant guy there.
Omfg so awesome
Man, I stopped smoking weed years ago, yea I know, I'm mad 🤣, no seriously though, nothing more creative than a joint an a few good wines surrounded by creative people who say an do cool things. I was on that vibe since I was so young, then my hair started to fall out, that was it for me, game over, bald guys and rock n roll, nah...i watch Courtney and think, man! that could have been me lol...what a dude, you gotta love him. I'd smoke a joint and sink a few wines with him, plug in, turn up, 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
This whole thing is art. Portland all fucking day. Love it so much.
Even when they burn their own town ?
@@standupstraight9691haha. Exactly. Portland was the coolest. That is why it was targeting for take down. March the streets and burn your own town down. BLM said we must burn our own town down to support blm. Huh? Then they all did it. That’s how globalist control media and brainwash cool places to be the most uncool places
He really has made some of incredibly cool sound scapes. Like the beginning of Be-In? That was inspired.
Looks like he's in Portland, some of the most beautiful neighborhoods in the US. Downtown is tent city, but across the bridges into the east side, just amazing.
idk i don´t have peercings don´t wanna get fokked up
lol "I could do Jack White songs, I just don't wanna." It's cool, Dandy's music is great too.
Always seems like a really good guy
By the way just been wanting to say on your live version plan a sick at the end that expresses her gratitude to you guys well I can just fill her she sound like she was very tuned in excellent version and she expressed the same way I would have expressed not wanting to be hard just what comes out f.... yea ! Love it brings back memories still got it in me . Got good fans
❤️
"If you MUTED it, Id still hate it!" 😂😂😂
Cool.
2020 Courtney Taylor Taylor: If 1997 Courtney Taylor Taylor had sex with Brando from Apocalypse Now.
"I don't like the mechanics of it. I like the drugs and the drinking." The guy is worth over a million dollars. Think about that.
LOL!!!!
Interesting guy especially how he creates his music but it can't be good using 'substances' in the long run. However I really like their music!
It's Only Rock and Roll it's easy for me to say but I think I get you when it's cool you can just feel it and no you got something then I can tell once you even got that cool you polish the hell out of it and I get it sometimes it don't have to be polished but that's coming from a person that can play Smoke on the Water Freebird over the hills far away some of my favorite Rush lucky if I can play the whole song so I get it it's got to be tough but you seem to know when it's cool and you feel it got something to work with
I feel like he's still trying to channel his inner Anton.
Living a lie coz it makes him happy
Anton may be an artist, but Dandys rule, ok? Truth be told it took me a long time to like dandys music but there's only like 3 good BJM songs I can think of...being generous
@@Funknutz420024 BJM have about six classic albums.
Funknutz420024 You’re insane. BJM has tons of great songs. One of the best bands in history
@@Funknutz420024 you are what we call a groupie
i think he s gonna say hanging out with Anton
He is a very talented and well-rounded artist. Unlike the BJM, he and his folks always had the discipline to make penetrating and long-lasting art.
This video was fantastic. And hilarious. lol
But yeah… They really need to put out a 10x better album than Why You So Crazy. That one was easily the worst of their career. -__-
ummmmmm ahhhhhhhhh ya
Though I like some of their music, the other half I thought was too commercial for my tastes, but that is all subjective. Courtney won no favors in Dig! when he's used BJ M to try to make his band look way more interesting than it ever could have been.
“Nothing cool ever happens to my band”. I wonder why
As a cucumber
Damn ,thought it was Pete Steele with a red shirt on , love em both
Love the necktie. It's business, right?
Someone liked my comment? Image: that pink paisley shirt and the navy blue necktie It's like Easter color scheme
Its interesting how he said he didn’t want to sound like the strokes or jack white in the time period when they were popular...but doesn’t mind sounding like them now. That’s kinda who the dandy’s are-a summation of popular music from 20-40 years ago. I like the dandy’s but...is it really original to sounds like bands 20 years after the fact? I feel like MGMT first album is what the dandy’s wish they could have sounded like (which they will in 20-years).
He/They have not and still do not sound like any of those bands.
I think some people just like to be judgmental of creative people.
He's so absolutely absurd, I'd love to hang out just to have a laugh.
I love the Dandy Warhols...but...everytime I watch an interview with Courtney Taylor-Taylor, I like them a little less.
Theeeeeeeeeeen, I listen to their records.
I love the Dandy Warhols!
why he also really grew as someone getting a microphone under his nose combined with mostly stupid questions he can tell a story now
I’m opposite. I don’t like their music, well I should say it’s not my cup of tea, And I never really liked him, but the more I watch him the more I like them. Still don’t like his music that much but he seems like a decent dude and there’s a decent life doesn’t hurt people and I respect that. I respect that create a process that he goes through
So well said.
This is like the dollar tree version of Anton Newcombe
But then he made a commercial for joe Biden and called him papa joe. Good lord. The most unrock and roll as you could get. Calls him
A sweet grampa type man. Just made all of his music different to me.
Really? I’m not surprised. But that’s a bummer. Kind of like Anton talkimg about getting Covid vaccine
@@mumbles215 oh shit. Really?! Wonder whose telling anton… he’s not controlled by anyone. Huh.
Still huge crush on Zia it's cool my wife allows she as know. Problems with my imaginary lovers. hope hoping Sia doesn't mind a few fans like me don't want to come off creepy just like her style that's all just like her style that's all
Sorry for the spelling never was too good in school there was other paths for me don't like to misspelled somebody's name though
He’s never been as ingenius as he thought he was. Rates himself way too highly
Doesn’t matter if it’s cool. Cool > Genius
Courtney has a sense of humour, and some of this interview he is taking the piss out of the industry and the creative process...
@@saintjabroni but it's cringeworthy so.... No
@@hamc9477 Maybe it’s the contact high I get from Courtney just talking influencing my accepting opinion of his candor. lol
This explains why the Dandy’s have been slowly sliding downhill for years!
...and then you smoke some pot, then some more pot and that is it, you are done!
Francisco Jimenez yep
What about the heroin and cocaine
and then
smoke another spliff!
Lolllll
No tattoos. ;)
He looks like his name is Karen and he would maybe like to speak to the manager?
He's aging like Sebastian Bach.
I heard that Courtney became a born again Christian. But he’s apparently not preachy about it.
The guy that sang Hard on for Jesus?
That would be beautiful.
Epitome of pretentious twaht.
Dandys Rule Ok was their only good album.
Your fake name is perfect !!
GENERIC
@@Lunchladydoyle yep
Would love to hang out with these guys, but alas , I am me ,and it's not to be.
It's so hard to keep up with their pot smoking 😅
