Unfortunately Cows immediately forgot about all the cowls the moment they hit the shelf and proceeded to make another fresh batch less than two episodes later.
That title is scary. Very excited to see where this goes. This series inspired me to start a vulcan save finally. Not brutal but i figured if you could suevive with table scraps ive got an ok chance
I followed Mick to Vulcan 2 years ago before gas got so complicated and managed to barely not die. I'm still watching this episode, and I think I'll wait and see what the fire in the title is about before I go back. Lol. Best of luck to you.
Mick another well done video. Also, I have a slight suggest on how you might be able reduce the amount of oxygen are using. I notice you have suit pressure set to 99 KPS which isn't really necessary to be set that high. If you set it to 30 KPS you will consumer less thus extending your oxygen supply to last a bit longer.
Well, wheels started to come off today! The aggressive setting of the evaporation valves in the plants' water supply coming home to roost now the big chiller is going - deftly avoided disaster with a late save. The "Oh my goodness, the chips!" moment taking some of the already scarce oxygen didn't help, though! I could have sworn Mick saw the cowl was missing from back of Adv Furnace when he went out ... but nope! I forsee a bit of gold mining in Mick's immediate future - gotta get a bit more oxygen from somewhere! All in all, going pretty well under pressure there! Just a bit more oxygen to maintain equilibrium...
You can use glass to repair your solar panels, a stack of glass repairs more panels then a rol of tape 😉 Guess its time to cool down some offgassing from the ore to get some oxygen?
Mick, thank you for another great play-through. I am really enjoying the go at Brutal Vulcan. I have a question for you: Are you using altered settings for the Plants/Nutrition Mod? I have been trying brutal starts on Vulcan, similar to you, and by day 5, I am down to about 30% food - this seems to be quite a bit faster consumption rate
I like the early part of the series when things havent been adequately automated yet so the synchronization of critical systems can collapse at any moment.
I halfway expected a somewhat bigger fireworks show :D I wonder how much more water it would take to make it more viable? Would a fern from the start make a notable difference?
Retrieving the oxygen from Gold ore offgassing should smooth things over as long as you're not running at a high oxygen deficit. At 0.2mol per Gold ore that's 10mol of Oxygen per stack of gold. I'm not sure how much of an oxygen bottle that is, but it's at least 10% of the current oxgen in your grow room.
This was my thought exactly... and according to the Wiki the player consumes about 0.571 mol/minute O2 on Stationeer difficulty. A stack of gold ore, properly off-gassed, would buy roughly 17.5 minutes of breathing or 13.5 mol / 0.24 L Water.

Once you get the cooler going it isn't too difficult. Getting the cooler quick enough is the trick.
"I didn't poo my pants .. " That would be funny if the game could detect that and instantly the shower alarm comes on ^^
Brown alert.

Thanks, I thought I had already done that.
I was waiting for you to empty that waste canister! lol

Gold mining will be difficult to keep up, so i hope I dont need it.
Cowls are evil 🙂
36:29. You see what happened there was you pressed the popcorn button. Never press the popcorn button.
I might have left the fork in there.

Tape is cheaper.
@@cowsareevil7514 that's true

Are you ignoring hygiene? Low mood increases the hunger rate.
@@Daemonworks - I think I figured it out - I had the plants & nutrition mod loaded both as the dll and through the mod loader so it was breaking it...
I have not changed any of the settings but I am playing on Normal difficulty. I test played on Stationeer difficulty and was doomed.

*A la Beavis* Fire...FIRE!!! 😆

Some darga ferns in the starter box would make things a lot easier.
Happy stomach is a happy place
Plant genetics could help with the gas production
Thats a good point. It could also reduce the water consumption.
Will the weather station ever get powered ?
It doesn't need to, so why bother?

Yup, I think Mick's at the point where this is necessary, now.
I was just coming down to the comments to ask this. Every little helps. And now with his super duper glasses he will be able to find much more gold.
With the plants and nutrition mod I need a lot more water. A few stacks of gold will only buy me a few minutes. I dont think I can mine enough.
