- Return to Tryfan!!
It may have only been a few weeks since my last visit to the Glyders doing this exact same route, however I had the opportunity tom come again as part of Adventure Buddies for a weekend of hiking and I couldn't resist after absolutely loving my first time on this summits.
In this video I try and take some more direct routes and pushed solo away from the group to challenge myself and at times had to even down climb as ridge locked a couple of times but loved the experience.
I'll never get bored of Tryan and hope you don't mind seeing this video so soon after the last one not he channel. this is a longer video hopefully showing you a little more of both the north ridge on Bryan but also Bristly Ridge so you have a really good idea what it's like if you choose to tackle this yourself.
These were the summits bagged on this walk;
🗻 Tryfan (918m / 3,011ft)
🗻 Tryfan Far South Peak (831m / 2,726ft)
🗻 Glider Fach (994m / 3,261ft)
🗻 Castell y Gwynt (972m / 3,188ft)
🗻 Glider Fawr (1,001m / 3,284ft)
I really hope you enjoy the video and would love to read your comments down below. Have you tried trypan yourself, if so how did you find it? If you know of any other challenge scrambles in the UK please do let me know as I will add them to my list of ones to try this year.
Links to the route and Adventure Buddies is below.

Kris

The mountain goat 🐐 🤙
This area is amazing, an other good video 👍 I think I saw this photos, love the colour grading of them
Really appreciate that thank you. Honestly the landscape around there is something else and we’ll worth seeing if you’re ever over here.
That selfie stick is mental. You’ll have to show us in the tech review when you do one
Haha cheers Pete. Yeah it gives a great angle doesn’t it and something you wouldn’t be able to get with another camera. I have a new attachment to strap to my back too and hoping that’ll help for future scrambles
Seeing another Tryfan Video just makes me want to climb it even more 😍 lovely touch adding your daughter's song as well 👏🏻
Cheer Scott. Really wanted to use it so I’ll always have the memory and hope she likes it if and when she watches it 😂. It’s addictive Tryfan isn’t it!
another great day out in the hills Kris looked a bit dodgy in places things we do for youtube 🤣🤣the 360 is looking good 👌catch you on the next one bud
Haha I know right! Haha got to do it though haven’t you. Tricky one handed with a camera but an awesome mountain and I’ll never get sick of it. Definitely hit the hills soon pal
Not been up to Y Glyderau for a while . My taid walked some of those routes wearing a pair of hobnail boots , some type of sou'ester and customary flat cap with several of his comrades every first Sunday of July as a pilgrim of sorts to remember the ones who never made it back from the battle of the Somme.
great video brings back memories . Diolch am rhanu o.
Love it. It’s great up there isn’t it, hope you manage to get yourself back there again one day.
The experience was amazing. This area is very beautiful
Thank you. It’s an amazing area with epic landscapes. Reminds me of something out of Lord of the Rings and well worth visiting.
That was really interesting & brilliant Kris . I’ve done Tryfan but not the rest 🙈
Thanks for the feedback Jada. Bristly I’d say is a little more challenging at times than Tryfan but it’s brilliant and do recommend it.
Love the editing and the fact that you’ve used your daughters song 🎵. Really works well.
Cheers Damo. Glad I used it as it’s there forever now for memories
Wow, absolutely stunning bud, these shots are spectacular here.
Aah thank you. Awesome views around snowdonia from the Glyders I love it
Brilliant video mate. The song is really good 😊 your mad climbing up there with one hand 🤦🏻♂️ the things you do for good footage hey
Haha true! But you have to do it for the content 😂. That’s about the song too, really wanted to put her song in as really great for memories
Cracking vid Kris. I did Tryfan the last weekend in Feb for the first time and can’t wait to go back! I spoke to loads of folks on the way up about routes and even those who’d done it multiple times said they’d never taken the same route twice! If you’re going up, you’re going the right way! 😂
Haha exactly! I’ve been up twice now but actually climbed Tryfan 3 times as I went back up to find my mic after losing it the first time I went. I don’t think you could take the same path if you tried so definitely keeps it interesting each time. Glad you enjoyed it
5:37 the 'nose' or North Tower' is given Grade 2 in the latest guide book.
Oh wow really? Thanks for that. Definitely felt it haha. Thank you
Hi Kris, great vid. I am in this group and another I've seen you in. Would be interested to do a wild camp with you at some point soon if you fancy it mate. Dave
Hi Dave appreciate that mate and yes I'd love to do that. I've been procrastinating about getting out this year and haven't wild camped yet in 2023 so weather permitting I'm happy to arrange something with you. Drop me an add on FB if you haven't already and we can certainly arrange. Just subscribed too.
Another great video mate, love the music. The 360 footage is awesome, what you using ? Cheers.
Cheers Paul and thanks about the music, it’s my daughter ☺️. I have the Insta360 X3 an awesome camera for a 2nd angle. I had a damaged lens with a slight crack for this video and next weeks so not as clear as I’d like but had it fixed since so future videos should be better
Wow amazing video Kris! I’m so inspired to do Tryfan now. Out of curiosity, which pack is it you use for these scrambles?
Aah brill that’s great to hear. On my strava too you can find the link if you want to follow it. It’s in the YT description.
The bag is the Montane Trailblazer 30. It’s an ace daypack and use it on every hike. It’s really good mines really battered now as had it a few years but would definitely buy another.
@@krisgleave wow that’s perfect, the strava route is a great help, thanks Kris. Really enjoying your channel too
I prefer vlogging when I'm out myself. I'm less self conscious when I'm vlogging when I'm out myself. You can't be 43! I thought that you were in your 30's.
Yeah it’s fine when you’re in the swing of it isn’t it. Haha yeah I’m 43. Don’t know how this has crept on me…although my knees feel like I’m 50 at times 😂
@@krisgleave Yeah, life has the habit of creeping up on us.
Peoples stupidity never ceases to amaze me.
Hi thanks for your comment. I am an experienced hiker and scrambler and well within my limits but appreciate not everybody is comfortable with doing these, however that does not mean the person is stupid. I think the part of my video where I was ridge locked was good to keep in to highlight how you always need to be aware of you exit routes as well as climbing and think it's a good reminder for people who like me enjoy scrambling and climbing.
banging these vids out mate - how about doing the pennine way or the dales high way - to generate sustained viewing of the vids better to have a sequenced video to watch (a long distance walk) - i will support you on those walks !
Great idea and that’s exactly what I’m already looking at. Actually the Pennine way was one of the first long distance walks I looked at but did the coast to coast instead. End of a May I’ll be doing that again. I’m already debating the Dales Way for the Easter break.
Over coming months I’m looking at others too and maybe an overseas hike in July all being well. My plan for when I do those is to make daily vlogs and like when I did coast to coast they’ll be released daily once edited.
Love the idea so thank you but something I already have in my mind and 100% will be doing. I’m always waiting on redundancy at work and finalising that so when I get the outcome I’ll know my availability too.
@@krisgleave ok mate keep me updated on your plans - im not back in the UK until 2024 - when im back lets meet up and do a long distance walk together !
Will do. I really appreciate your support too it means a lot.
I had a plan to do the same thing here in Vietnam = make long distance walk vlogs but the problem was most people dont speak English here and most of the people are not into hiking/walking so i gave up on the idea but we have some cracking places for walks here in Vietnam.
@@bilbobaggins7340 That should be stop you though and you could still do it. It’s your adventure so just capture that.
