I can’t believe it. This album has actual proof, mysterious traveler, stratus, and footprints. Wow. Thanks for this video dude. I needed a new fusion album. I also have the album with Scott, Steve Smith, and Victor Wooten. They play a mean cover of giant steps.
@@elementsofphysicalreality great so glad you discovered it, that HBC album is stellar. It feels more like a jazz album being it’s all covers.. the footprints is beautiful.. I learned the intro and melody and the full solo, and posted a shorter (pun!) clip of that video. But pheeeew it’s all so interesting, I learned so much from it, some things were especially eye opening.. , using two note chords for most of the melody, the out voicings on minor chords, diminished lines over minor chords, rhythmic phrasing. Hoping it helps me play some new ideas
@ yeah I know a bunch of jazz standards like this but I really need to start focusing on playing these melodies as chords. Same goes for their version of Actual Proof. It sounded really good how Scott voiced the melody/chorus section.
When did Scott play with Dennis? How do I not know about this I thought I had every great fusion album. If you like Dennis have you heard of CAB? If not, you’re welcome ;)
Great work. Such interesting lines and great feel. I haven’t tried transcribing any of it yet: Would you say it’s mostly diminished, or melodic minor modes?
Thanks man. It is really mind blowing stuff. And yes the melodic minor scales and chord voicings are really prevalent in this solo and some great diminished lines.
Oh my God! Wow to you.
