If you feel like your up to it Zach, they yeah. But VLOGs are good and you're doin a really good job with them. But like I said your channel, your call we'll understand either way.
I grew up in Minnesota. I live in Wyoming now. I miss harvest time, the hustle and bustle. Your channel brings me a piece of Minnesota every time a new video comes out. Keep it up man!
After watching so many of your videos, and living in a heavy farming region here in Kentucky, I have a whole newfound respect for farmers. All the issues that arise from simply trying to take 1 field, and how hard it is to really get the crops taken, its really makes you appreciate everything they do to harvest up all the things they(you) do that help make this world go round. Keep up the awesome videos. I stalk my youtube feed daily for your videos and I simply can not get enough farm action. #gotime!
Dude as someone who grew up on the Farm in SW Minnesota, I love your videos! keep it up, they are so much fun to watch and they help those that don't know much about farming.
Looks like you guys are off to a great start on beans. I farm in east central MN. Was a beautiful day to harvest today. Love watching your videos. You should do one on how you troubleshoot grain loss, grain tank quality, and what to adjust to improve grain loss, unthreshed grain, grinding and damaging grain. I upgraded from a 9500 to a 9570 STS. I'm slowly getting the hang of fine tuning the settings but it's a totally different machine. Just a suggestion for a future video. Stay safe out there.
The LED light draws much less amperage after it has gotten warmed up (which explain why it works the first time but not again shortly afterwards) and the digital light controller in the combine likely thinks there is a problem. The easiest thing to do is add another load to that circuit - maybe double up the LED lights or add the original light back on along with the new LED light. It is similar issue to why LED taillights lights retrofitted on a vehicle cause the blinker to malfunction (either blink rapidly or not blink at all) -- the LED lights do not put enough of a load on the blinker for it to work correctly.
I've had that same problem on the many older used cars I've owned, because while I won't do too many changes to the car one of the things I always do is replace all the halogen lights with LEDs because of the reduced power draw and also that LEDs nowadays are amazingly reliable. But yeah because of the reduced power draw I usually have to add a resistor into the line or tie some lights together to increase power draw and not have the blinker problem.
Led lights cause goofy problems with computers when they expect a larger load. Had a customer with a mid 2000s suburban that he put led tail light bulbs in and it caused the cruise control to not work. That was a fun one to figure out.
Yup, same for my old bike. Needed a resistor or another LED. In this case as you need the light, I'd recommend another LED on the same circuit or a single, bigger one.
Glad to see you back in field! Everybody back here too. Ic you speeded up you accerater beater. My dealer has me running it in slow speed in all crops. More torque and still gets product to rotor plenty fast. Have a great day!
I got so excited listening to your crop harvesting and winter conditions, and combine breakdowns and corn auger storage breakdown and bagging process. Then I heard you say, "I tai'nt afeered to go back", and I immediately thought of your beautiful girls. Tender needing a father not removed in a system that would become "normal". Don't do it man, or even think it.
Hi Zach, You all be safe out there, remember safety first. My brother farms in NW Indiana two weeks age they were picking beans with their JD 9660 and well they had a bad day when the combine caught fire and burnt the machine. Well all said and done they have there replacement machine a S670 JD and they are back at it today picking. You all a take care keep the great videos coming and be safe out there harvesting. Thanks, Jeffrey Misch
As a city boy, and a Navy vet, Could you shoot a short video explaining how the Corn head actually works, as far as removing Kernels from the cob? And then one on the soybean head explaining how that works to extract the beans from the plants? I would appreciate it! TY in advance.
I’d be interested in how the corn head actually chops up the stalks, we don’t farm corn up here. The header doesn’t remove corn from cob that is all done in the combine. As for the bean header it cuts the plant stalk off very close to the the ground, the spinning reel keeps the the plants from falling forward once they’re cut, the auger then pulls the entire plant, pods and beans into the combine. The combine then does the separation/threshing. The headers only cut the crop, and feed it into the combine.
Header for corn removes cobs from the stalk. It is done by two cylinders, which holds the plant in between and as they are rolling, plant goes to the ground, and in this motion, stable knives removes a corncob. Rest of the plant is chopped by a small chopper, which is under every row on the header. It is because for combine it is hard (and unnessecary) to deal with tall and hard corn plant. Sorry, hard to explain in EN for me.
Glad dust is back a rolling from machine, please keep your brothers in agriculture from Georgia in your thoughts and prayers that got hit last week by hurricane Michael.
Zach, The ecu driver for that light is sensing an OPEN ( FMI .03) the fault code SPN 523589 FMI 03, is indicating that the voltage is out of range high, meaning not enough load on that circuit and it thinks its OPEN. since going from incandescent light to an LED light, the resistance is much less, especially when the light is "warm". adding another light might help or a load equalizer/ resistor to add that load back to the circuit. hope you continue to have a good and safe harvest.
Is it just me that loves the few seconds after the logo come up at the end? Its like waiting at the cinema for the secret bit after the credits, only the hardcore fans know about it ;) ssshhhh
Im new to the channel and love the videos. My pa farms. so I know all about the headaches. When im having a bad day i watch your videos and my day gets better. Thank you.

I started watching u about month ago and i really like your channel and everything what u showing in vids. Original content. Very nice. Greatings from Poland ;)
what we did on our header and combine is we painted a black line on the combine and head when it was hooked up. It makes hooking up now a little bit faster for us.

Hey Zach, I cannot believe how fast your channel is growing! I have been here for quite awhile and it is great to see you succeed at this! Who knows you might beat HowFarmsWork to the 200k mark!
To add to what KCautodoctor was writing. You are operating a can-bus tractor. It has sensors for everything. In this case you replaced the previous incandescent light with a much more efficient LED light that doesn't draw as much current after initial load. To figure out how much current your old light was drawing you take the watts and divide them by 14 (volts dc). So if you had a 50 watt lamp you divide by 14 volts (running tractor volts) you had a 3.57 Amp (or just round up to 4 amp) incandescent lamp. So you can either add more LED lights to that circuit to increase the current you draw to keep the combine computer happy or you can put a resistor in-line. Those are all theoretical watts on the lamp, I have no idea what it was, it's best guess for what I have seen on other tractors. It could be written on the old incandescent lamp or Deere could tell you. Resistors are fairly cheap, and you are going to want one with a heat sink. Without knowing how much current you are drawing with your newly installed LED light I would blindly recommend these resistors. If its too much resistance the worst thing it will do is make the LED look dimmer. www.amazon.com/4PCS-ARTR-6ohm-Load-Resistors/dp/B00UNG3EXQ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1539806035&sr=8-2&keywords=led+taillight+resistor Another option is you could mount one of those off-road country boy LED light bars to the side of the combine and have your own portable night sun to light up the night. Those things pull enough current to keep the Deere ECU happy and you will look like a UFO streaking across your field at night. www.amazon.com/Auxbeam-Tri-row-200pcsHigh-Intensity-Trains/dp/B01M0M9CSB/ref=sr_1_17?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1539806947&sr=1-17&keywords=led+light+bar
Also something to keep in mind LED "Watts" don't always equate to real world watts. A lot of LED manufacturers, especially from China will rate their LEDs in 'equivalent lumen watts'. So they will say a work light is 50 Watts when in reality it produces the same amount of light or equivalent based on their opinion as a 50 watt lamp. When it reality it may only actually draw 10 watts. 50 actual Watts in LED is fairly serious and it usually comes with a massive heat sink to help keep the LEDs cool, so make sure you read the fine details and specifications if you plan on adding more lights to your rig.
I honestly don't know how you are posting and editing during this time of year. I can barely find time to take a shower. Thanks buddy, I enjoy watching, get some rest and stay safe!
So, I'm a John Deere dealer tech. Started watching your videos a few days ago, and I noticed something you may not know. You can shut the engine off on your combine every now and then. I’m glad to see a farmer in your area is smart enough to go red. I was almost convinced that all Minnesota was green. 😂😂😂😂. Just kidding, I was born and raised red but I think any color can do a great job harvesting in today’s world. Hope you can run lots and lots of crops!!!!

One harvest in Kansas round 2003 we had two hands going opposite ways in a field ... hooked headers together. Bent both the feeder houses, made a hell of a mess.
I remember that visibility problem 1980 harvest after the eruption of mount st. Helens. The volcanic ash covered everything and when the sun set the dust stayed in front of the combine. Almost drove into the machine in front of me.
Great videos great channel, glad someone brings the value and importance of farming. I used to Farm with Stamer Farms out of Willmar, and prior to that with his brothers Hector Farms! Look forward to your videos buddy.
Had to smile your saying when they wrap on the auger because I say tough just as you do. Then I think in an hour the freeze will let them run another hour or two. Remember those nights well. 👍
I've always enjoyed watching your videos and think you're awesome on how you do them. Do you think that you might give your take on the " Fair Repair Act " in one of your vlogs ?
Dust can be a pain at night. I was discing N-S one night and we had a strong south wind. On one trip North it was particularly bad I kept thinking that I should be getting close to the north end (long before GPS) and then all of a sudden I saw tree branches coming in over the hood of the tractor. I got it stopped before I busted of the exhaust stack or anything.
LED lights are a lower wattage. If the combine is not getting the right resistance back it won't turn the light on again. Have your tuner correct the ECU to look for a lower wattage. Should get you going. Switch out that light on the auger side of the combine with a LED too!
Should we go live today?
If you feel like your up to it Zach, they yeah. But VLOGs are good and you're doin a really good job with them. But like I said your channel, your call we'll understand either way.

Beans beans the magical fruit. Got caught behind a combine once helping a farmer friend running corn and I was bruised head to toe.
Another option is you could mount one of those off-road country boy LED light bars to the side of the combine and have your own portable night sun to light up the night.
LED lights are a lower wattage. If the combine is not getting the right resistance back it won't turn the light on again. Have your tuner correct the ECU to look for a lower wattage. Should get you going. Switch out that light on the auger side of the combine with a LED too!
We have the same exact problem on our 9870 sts. Try to mess with the plug. All of the shaking from the auger unplugs it
