  • What is appendicitis? Appendicitis is inflammation of the appendix, a small, potentially vestigial organ that branches off the large intestine. Inflammation is usually a result of some sort of obstruction in the lumen of the appendix, which ultimately leads to infection. Find our full video library only on Osmosis: osms.it/more.

    I am two weeks post surgery. The pain came out of nowhere. I was not hungry the night before and woke up with severe pain, nausea, and vomiting. Went to the ER and after a CT scan was on the operating table within 30 minutes with a blood infection. It’s no joke how quickly this can sneak up on you. Don’t ignore the pain.

      I’m 5 days post op. I didn’t have any of the typical symptoms. Only had abdominal. Went to the med stop, they thought it was a UTI or kidney stone but to see my doctor. See my doctor the next day and she sent be straight to the ER for fear of appendicitis. One day later, I had an appendectomy and was discharged later that day. I haven’t taken any pain meds post op either. Just sore and bruised up.

    One thing that happened to me was the pain mimicked ovulation pain---it started more as a back pain, which I was so used to, I ignored it. I even had a dressage lesson (riding horses) during what was an appendicitis attack, and it ruptured the next day(riding did not cause the rupture). The pain I had was like a gas pain behind my navel first, and lower back. Once it ruptured, it then moved to the lower right side and mother of god, that whole experience was the most pain I've had, and my pain threshold is very high. Upon diagnosis and surgery, the surgeon said my appendix ruptured with such force, it split in 2. Thank GOD I had a good surgeon and medical team, and I loathe antibiotics so the stuff they put me on ,while it made me so sick, it killed pretty much everything.

    • @codename495
      @codename495 6 років тому +7

      Darkhorse3211 you shouldn’t loathe antibiotics, before them people died of simple infection, appendicitis was essentially a death sentence if it ruptured. Love antibiotics, you’re alive because they were discovered.

    I’m about a week post surgery. I don’t remember eating too much that day but I did have a large order of Taco Bell nacho fries lol. I then took a nap with my fiancée and then I woke up to pain in my lower right abdomen. I was cautious with my movements and that night I decided to sleep it off and to not assume the worst just yet and hope it was just constipation. Well, I woke up the next day and the pain hadn’t left, it didn’t really get worse though. But because I limited my movements I didn’t want to leave my bed the whole day and by evening time I had my fiancée take me to the ER where it was revealed that I indeed had appendicitis. So far so good after a week of surgery (laparoscopic) and am hopeful to be fully recovered here soon! Hope y’all stay healthy! (:

    Both my mom and dad has had appendicitis , where a tiny bit of food, being a part of the intestines, gets stuck and causes it to inflame and it causes severe pain and what happened with my dad was his exploded. But you have to get it surgically removed before it explodes. If it explodes they clean your insides out leaving a bigger scar.

I was having copious amounts of blood work done and always had a sense of dread whenever the nurses entered my hospital room. Around twice a year, I experience intense pain in my stomach, that means I am petrified of leaving the toilet, in intense pain, dizzy from said pain, etc. It subsides after about 30 minutes. It is absolutely the kind of pain that you focus entirely on. I wonder if I have appendicitis.

    I'm in pain on my lower abdomen on my right.
    this tends to happen to me rarely but this has happened to me before .it was nothing in the end .
    should I consult a doctor ? what may it be ?

      yes, tell the doctor about what you are feeling.
      I don't think you have appendicitis.

      i got it a few days ago.

    I went to immediate Care cuz I thought I had a stomach bug or something but nope I had appendicitis and I had to get rushed in an ambulance from immediate Care to the hospital and I had to get surgery. It's been 2 days after my surgery and im back home now and recovering. Luckily it didn't burst and the doctors were able to get it out before it did. Im feeling better and starting to move around a lot more now :) I recommend that if you have constant pain on your right side of your stomach, get it checked out immediately!

    I woke up this morning to discomfort on my right side.
    Later, the discomfort moved to my lower back. Hours later, discomfort moved back to my right side. Hoping its constipation, I tried to use the bathroom to see if the pain would go away. It subsided.
    8 hours later, as I was leaving work, I felt an excruciating, sharp but kinda dull pain on my right side. Struggling to drive home, the pain finally subsided again. Prolly lasted about 20 minutes. Tried to sleep it off, hoping when I wake, it'll go away.
    I awoke. It's midnight. I don't feel any pain. But there is a lingering effect feeling on my right side. Started googling and searching on youtube, and now I'm here. As I'm writing, the pain came back. I shifted my body weight to my right side, and it feels okay at the moment. I'm afraid. But I'm hoping... hoping... but I'm afraid.😨 (if that made any sense.)
    I know I gotta have it checked out, but... I guess I'm just looking for a second opinion. I dont know 😢 or maybe I'm just stalling time. Whatever my case may be, I'm scared.

    I was admitted to the hospital a few days ago and at first they suspected appendicitis. But I did not have the re-bound pain, I also did not have the white blood cell response. But the CT scan clearly showed my appendix was dilated to 2 cm, double the normal size. Apparently, there was some kind of infection that was affecting not just my appendix but the colon tissue around it. They decided not to operate immediately because my appendix did not appear to have ruptured and they didn't want to operate with all the infection in the surrounding area. I spent 3 days in hospital doing IV antibiotics and now I'm at home continuing antibiotic treatment. I guess they're going to do an appendectomy later on. They said that I did not present like a typical case of appendicitis. I'm curious if any experts out there have thoughts on what other things could be going on. I of course asked my doctors this question but they didn't seem to have direct answers. They said they could rule out a tumor, but otherwise are still trying to figure it out. I'm due back for a CT scan update once I finish my home antibiotics.

    • @medinfo7149
      @medinfo7149 2 роки тому

      Appendicitis symptoms are same no matter the age. Depending on the location of one's appendix the location of the pain may vary. Can be a periumbilical which can migrate to the right lower abdomen. Associated with nausea and vomiting, anorexia and /or fever. It is an emergency surgical case.

    Hi, My mother's appendix ruptured and she didn't do anything about it for 5-6 days and she had her surgery today and the doctor said it went well and they cleared all the infection, but they said they found something hard in the abdomen (stomach) / intestines. ) they say there may be an infection gathered there, do you think the infection, bacteria collection could cause such a thing or could it be a tumor? Is this normal or appendicitis due to infection?
