I have the doll in the Judy Garland sculpt and she is one of my favorites! I prefer her over the other dolls they released. In person, her eyebrows seem more noticeable and her slippers do have bows, just hard to see in photos online. Hopefully we see a new doll line in the future, but only if they use the Judy Garland sculpt for Dorothy.

You might know this by now but if there's two dates online for a doll it means the following; the first year is the production/boxing date and the next year is the official release year. The entire process of releasing a doll takes about a year:)

I had the talking Glinda Barbie as a kid and played with her all the time. Mattel actually released a Wizard Of Oz collection for the Barbie Peek-A-Boo Petites line in 2008 ❤

My favorite character from Oz is the Wicked Witch (Margaret Hamilton wins the award for “Best Movie Villain” in my book). So I’d like to see any Wicked Witch of the West (or Miss Gulch) dolls next, if you have any in your collection.

I had that Dorothy doll from 1999 when I was a kid. It had a button you press on it and she says two catch phases from the movie. And also her feet lights up.

❤ When released the Mego 1970's for the price are the best Dorothy doll and if you prefer more a glam higher priced beautiful Dorothy the 1984 Effanbee doll is Great and looks like Judy Garland.

The first 1994/1995 version actually had two very slightly different versions, but main differences being the box and her braids. One had a hard top, and there some word differences.

I love Dorothy and Toto (their a package deal to me) but my fave fave is the Wicked Witch of the West. I have her Wicked play adaption and the Mila Kunis versions (before and after)

I had a wicked witch doll I think she was a collector doll she looked just like the wicked witch of the west from the movie I don't know when I got her but I was older and put her on display with my American Girl dolls

I love "The Wizard of Oz" storyline it;s my favorite fantasy fairytaile, i love the movies. the cartoons and all the charactors from "The Wizard Of Oz", but i'm a 80's Barbie collector but i would love to have a full cast from "The Wizard of Oz" from Barbie that looked like the actors from the 1939 movie with Judy Garland.
It’s THE BEST!! I would love a full set too that closely resembles all the actors- the 2013 Mattel ones look pretty close - for the 75th anniversary!

I have hundreds of Mego fashions to also include Cher's stage roadster car cases playsets Mego is actually where I started collecting cutie... I've seen the Mego wizard of Oz before. I own the porcelain one , and she to me is the only Dorothy doll that looks close to Judy Garland as Dorothy. The porcelain one is stunning and well worth the price if you can find her.The Porcelain one is sculpted to Judy's likeness as was 2013. The 2013 was meant to be a vinyl version of the porcelain one. They missed the mark though on the vinyl one.

Watch ebay close thats how I got her new in box on a auction for 40 bucks not that long ago, and I saw her and the Wicked Witch go for 70 together I think 3 days ago. When it comes to Wizard of Oz which is my favorite non animated movie from childhood , I stick to porcelain in Dorothy, I also have the Marie Osmond Adora Belle Anniversary Dorothy dollwhich is stunning if you want another amazing Dorothy doll.

The 1999 Dorothy uses the generation girl face while 1995 uses the superstar face mold 😊

Do the Wicked Dolls count as part of Wizard of Oz? I know Dorothy wasn't involved though. I wonder when the next reboot of Mattel's Wizard of Oz.
I’d consider the wicked dolls in the realm of wizard of oz dolls!!! I forgot, those are Mattel also!!!
Dorothy was one i saw in stores but never got to add to my collection. The whole series had tommy and Kelly and Ken as well as barbie. On my wishlist of grail dolls. The playline version might be in my price range though. I would love to find one that still lights up as that's a gimmick that Always saw on 90s early 2000s dolls that made them so appealing. Very cool review and the difference between them isn't that far off other than the details and quality of the dress.

Kinda sad that after first Dorothy, they don't give her nice petticoat, but I guess that's what it's true to the film.
And yes, Dorothy was also one of my favorite Classic Hollywood Heroine. Example of that you can be both feminist and also sweet and innocent too.

It's been 10 or 11 years since a wizard of oz doll's. We need Mattel to bring back wizard of oz doll's it's has to be like 80 something anniversary for the movie by now.

I am regretting more and more that I let my daughter's friends play with our Barbies, the Dorathy shoes are gone grr. My self, little sister, both my daughters played very well and dressed or dolls well. Only One day youngest daughters friends "played" with our Barbies (13 yr olds) and they
broke the necks of soooo many 60s and 70s Barbies

Awwww haha UGH I know , I wish I hadn’t played so roughly with my childhood dolls. But I bet they had so much fun with them. OMG NOOOOO not the broken necks!!! And the lost shoes :( ugh I’m so sorry to hear that. That is disappointing for sure. Hopefully you can find them complete on eBay though if you ever decide to try and reunite with them!!!
i looked on the weird wizard of oz dolls and their by a company called multi toys 1987, so your right no mattel till 1994, next time i will look before i correct you sorry

For the Mattel 1995 ones? Typically I see Dorothy and Glinda go for anywhere from $20-$40 USD! Honestly not too sure about the male characters!!

Sadly most of them don’t have tons of articulation :(( and most of their dresses are made to fit their bodies and not good matches for modern made to move Barbie’s :(
