Prince Solomon, with his closest man, Ibrahim Pargam Ibrahim receives the bad news in a hunt. His father Yavuz Sultan Selim Khan passed away. Prince Suleyman sets out for Istanbul without waiting. Prince Süleyman quickly reaches the capital. He attends the culus ceremony without waiting. His life changed in one day. He started his life as Sultan Süleyman.
Meanwhile, a galley loaded with slaves coming over the Black Sea is heading towards Istanbul. The hottest of the slaves is not yet aware that he is on a journey that will change his destiny. He is rebelling helplessly to return.
Sultan Süleyman wants to show what kind of sultan he is by the commands he gave on the first day of his sultanate. But not everyone will like these decisions. Sultan Süleyman does not hesitate to challenge all of Europe with the messages he sends.
Alex, despite all his rebellion, is brought to the Topkapi palace. His attitude attracted the attention of Valide Sultan from the first moment. But it won't be long before Alex learns the rules of the palace. He chooses a great target. Alex, Sultan Suleyman's first night on the way to attract his attention. Sultan Suleiman's wife Mahidevran just arrived from the palace of Manisa. He is looking forward to seeing his wife.

Bu sırada, Karadeniz üzerinden içi köle yüklü bir kadırga, İstanbul’a doğru gelmektedir. Kölelerden en ateşli olanı ise, kaderini değiştirecek olan yolculuğa çıktığının henüz farkında değildir. Geri dönmek için çaresiz bir şekilde isyan etmektedir.
Sultan Süleyman, padişahlığının ilk gününde verdiği buyruklarla nasıl bir padişah olduğunu göstermek ister. Ama bu kararlar herkesin hoşuna gitmeyecektir. Sultan Süleyman ise gönderdiği mesajlarla, tüm Avrupa’ya meydan okumaktan çekinmez.
Alex, tüm isyankarlığına rağmen, Topkapı sarayına getirilir. Onun bu tavrı ilk andan itibaren Valide Sultan’ın dikkatini çeker. Ama Alex’in sarayın kurallarını öğrenmesi uzun sürmez. Kendisine büyük bir hedef seçer. Alex, Sultan Süleyman’ın karşısına çıktığı ilk gecede onun ilgisini çekmeyi başarır. Sultan Süleyman’ın eşi Mahidevran ise Manisa sarayından yeni gelmiş. Eşi ile görüşmeyi sabırsızlıkla beklemektedir.

In real life Hürrem actually have 7 child from Suleiman. But in the show it only shows 5 children. But yes you are right. Killing, betrayal, suicide, ruthlessness, power hunger, all kinds happen in the Harem or in the entire Empire/Palace. It's sad that they have to do evil doings just to remain in status, survive, or not get it's Authority lower. I mean, if you don't have enough power you would surely die quickly. But if you have lots of power, you could easily wipe those enemies but then new enemies would come... It's really a hard life.

Hurrem in real life was more powerful, the sisters had to obey to her and not oppose her, they never involved in harem. Hurrem was the dominant sultana in palace and everyone, including the royal sisters, obeyed to any order she gives.

I'm not siding with Hurrem here. But she didn't really have a choice because the other powerful women within the harem (Mahidevran, Suleyman's sisters etc) were constantly trying to bring her down. If she loses power and Suleyman's love, all would be lost for her. Her very life and that of her children will be threatened. So she needed to make a preemptive strike. She started off as a lowly concubine and it took a lot of effort for her to get to her position so of course she had to guard it with her life, especially since she had enemies everywhere. So, as cruel as this seems, it's really a necessary evil to ensure her survival. I'm not saying that I agree with it, but in those days, that's how things worked. Only the strongest and the most ruthless will survive.

From a political standpoint, if Hurrem allowed Suleyman to take a new concubine to his bed, it might possibly result in two things: The birth of a new prince who would then threaten her sons' position and it might make Suleyman lose interest in Hurrem. An attractive woman is every straight man's weakness. I've known men who were willing to leave their wives and children for a younger and more attractive woman so Hurrem's fear of losing Suleyman is very much justified. And that is exactly the reason why Suleyman's mother and sisters try to send him new concubines all the time. They do so in the hopes that he would lose interest in Hurrem.
Mahidevran knows that she had fallen out of favour with Suleyman so she had no chance to ever seduce him again, so while it doesn't exactly benefit her either to support them in sending new concubines to Suleyman, she would be willing to support them just to spite Hurrem. Besides Mahidevran knows that all of Suleyman's sisters favour her son Mustafa over Hurrem's sons so she has nothing to worry about even if Suleyman falls in love with another woman. Once Suleyman dies and Mustafa becomes sultan she would become Valide sultana.
Hurrem is the one with everything to lose if Suleyman loses interest in her. She and her children would be ousted and her sons would all be executed. If you were in her position I bet you'd do the same too.
