I graduated from high school the first week of June 1986. Thank you so much for the wonderful memories. Tv is not any where as good as it used to be, nor are the products. Love watching all your vids. Thank you so much for posting these wonderful commericals.
Cookie Crisp Cereal was one of my favs growing up!! Loved Tato Skins and yes T.G.I Fridays does make Tato Skins. They're in the vending machine at my work. I always get the Chedder Bacon flavor! Those Pudding Pies looked gross! Those "One To Grow On" skits are Saturday morning memories!!
june 7th? that means it was most likely the first saturday of summer vacation and i was a die hard gummi bears fan so i KNOW i was watching these when they aired. sometimes it truly brings tears to my eyes...i love these videos so much. thank you!
Great set!! Tato Skins were good. Can't remember when they were discontinued but I don't think they lasted long. I love your descriptions on Barney's mental status & his determination to get Pebbles. Just buy a damn box dude...LOL. Hostess pudding pies were GROSS & I've always loved the old Apple Jacks box!!!
Somehow, even though I was too young to know for sure (I turned 1 in 1986!), I remember seeing "Gummi Bears", along with part of "One To Grow On", then switching to CBS for "Muppet Babies".
Wow does anyone else find it over the top terrifying that this was now over thirty years ago? Those of us who spent our childhoods in this era would often be amazed to see how such colorized technology has now been around since a time when just two decades earlier it might have seemed at least half a century away! As for myself I must have seen The Karate Kid ll on the big screen at least three times that summer. Daniel Laruso sure showed us that the the mind is more powerful than any form of physical strength! As for that My Child commercial I think I understand why it would seem creepy as those girls are dealing with the doll's undergarments for part of the time! Pig tails were also very popular among girls in the 1980s so that's not surprising to see. Peter the boy who had that dream about the fun fruits might have had to be institutionalized but at least he had three awesome friends to fight him out of that place! I tell you I remember nearly each and every one of these commercials. Time stands still!
Good lord I can only imagine the sugar and calorie content in that hostess pudding pie thing. It would epic to see it come back. Can you imagine the jokes?
in the first smurf intro with the horse, the guy on the goat is Peewit from "Johan and Peewit " the series Peyo did before he did the smurfs. The smurfs started as a sideline in the Johan and Peewit series. In Sweden they where called Johan and Pellevin, their series is set in medival times. Johan is a page trying to become a knight and Peewit is his trusted companion.
@drsnowmon You can still find Tato Skins, you just have to look harder. Keebler gave Tato Skins to the company that makes the T.G.I. Friday's brand of snacks. So, if you can find the T.G.I. Friday's Potato Skins chips, you found Tato Skins; they're just 'slightly' camouflaged. :)
@Chad9976 I know, I let someone else in on that bit of info shortly after I left my first comment to you. :-) All the same, it's good to know that some things from my childhood haven't completely disappeared...they've just been renamed or changed around somehow.
I loved my water wiggle! played w/ it all the time Bring back Tato Skins! Those Hostess Pudding Pies look like they could give a 9 yr. old a heart attack imagine putting free candy in a box of sugary cereal today, it just wouldn't happen
@jjohnsonokla You're not alone. I loved those pudding pies too, along with the fruit pies. People can recoil all they like but they were one of my many joys of childhood. Haven't thought about a pudding pie in years but now I want one bad. LOL.
I'm a little surprised Keebler tried to get in on the potato chip business. Did anyone have those at the time? Were they good? And surely Barney can get a discount on that cereal when he's on the freaking box!
That Water Wiggle looks toned down from the version I remember from the 1970s, which was like a medieval torture device. We used it once and NEVER again! And speaking of terror, that Sunkist Fun Fruits commercial? If I were under ten years old in 1986, I would have seen that and had nighmares for months. Couple that with the unnerving surrealism of the Levi's ad right after it (seriously, what drugs were the people who made that one on?)...
@blugreen123 Tato Skins never went anywhere! Keebler simply sold that brand to the maker of the T.G.I. Friday's brand of snacks. So, if you can find the T.G.I. Friday's Potato Skins chips, you will have found Tato Skins. :)
@kerberos623 The original comics themselves involved the two guys on all sorts of adventures from what I noticed. Hardly any of them were ever published in the US besides the story that introduced The Smurfs ("The Smurfs and the Magic Flute").
Barney may have been imitating Prince, but they wouldn't dare mention him by name, for fear of being sued! Also Barney may have went to Pathrock to buy Pebbles, but it was more fun stealing Fred's!!!
Does anybody else think that it was a bit overtly hostile and bratty when that little boy in the pudding pie commercial blurted out, "CREEP!" at the older girl when she ate the whole pudding pie without giving him any? I mean, she WAS being a creep, but I thought it a bit strange to put something like that in a commercial. Showing kids name-calling is not a very good precendent. Even for the 80's...
You have purchased -chocolate chip cookies-. You may also enjoy -movies about karate-. If not, consider it a prize. Kids, if a fire somehow breaks out in your sink and you're tall enough to reach the taps, don't bother your neighbours. They have more important problems. My Child Dolls - There's one that looks like you! Provided you already look like either of them. White curly brunette, white straight blonde, they're all here!
Robot costume FAIL. If you freeze the frame you can see Barney's head as he transforms. He needs more than help -- he needs to get his own damn Pebbles Some of those One To Grow On segments were cheesy -- but this one with Murdock and Urkel is pretty epic No pudding pie for you -- NOT YOURS Every chewy one is REAL FRUITY FUN BWAHAHAHAHA
Those Tato Skins were pretty good back in the day! My favorite were Sour Cream & Chives.
I'm so grateful for the all the commercial uploads. Wish that time travel thing would of happened now. Would love to revisit the 80's whether

So grateful for all of the 80's commercial videos. I love to reminisce about my childhood which the videos help me to do. Thank you!
I used to LOVE those animated Levi's ads with the logo. I wanted 'em all on tape.
Can u imagine not even pauing attention to this stuff at the time. But to watch it now feels amazing. This is what technology is all about.
june 7th? that means it was most likely the first saturday of summer vacation and i was a die hard gummi bears fan so i KNOW i was watching these when they aired. sometimes it truly brings tears to my eyes...i love these videos so much. thank you!
My childhood, in 241 volumes lol. Keep 'em coming!
I'm a kid again watching this commercial. If only I can roll back time.
Somehow, even though I was too young to know for sure (I turned 1 in 1986!), I remember seeing "Gummi Bears", along with part of "One To Grow On", then switching to CBS for "Muppet Babies".
YOU ARE OFFICIALLY THE SHIT!! Thank you so much for these...really bringing me back

That Chips Ahoy commercial, the kid looked like the boy from Nerds
Good lord I can only imagine the sugar and calorie content in that hostess pudding pie thing. It would epic to see it come back. Can you imagine the jokes?
oh wow that "One to grow on" commercial shorts i remember when i was a kid. especially the psychedelic cartoon morphs when it starts
in the first smurf intro with the horse, the guy on the goat is Peewit from "Johan and Peewit " the series Peyo did before he did the smurfs. The smurfs started as a sideline in the Johan and Peewit series. In Sweden they where called Johan and Pellevin, their series is set in medival times. Wait, in the 90s they went to "Doesn't taste like Apples," but the 80s specifically pushed the Apples. Make up your mind Apple Jacks, which is it!
My brother and I had a water wiggle when we were kids and it knocked him out. Seeing this commercial makes me think of that and I still laugh.
"Howling Mad" Murdock AND Steve Urkel?! :-O
I want to go back to the 80's
I agree 100% with you on those pudding pies. Never did like those.
The girl in the Hostess ad deserves an Oscar for that performance -- I mean she was REALLY taking it out.
They still make tato skins. bought some from the store the other day
@Chad9976 I'm with you on that one, man. Tato Skins were one of my favorite kinds of chips back in the day!
Pressed the like button as soon as I saw the gummi bear bumper.
I had a water wiggle. It almost never worked, and when it did, it would be just long enough to slap you in the face.
The Tato Skins commercial is where I first learned the word "chive."
@Chad9976 I know, I let someone else in on that bit of info shortly after I left my first comment to you. :-) All the same, it's good to know that some things from my childhood haven't completely disappeared...they've just been renamed or changed around somehow.
Catchy tunes like the ones from Hi-C are the reason why the Gangnam Style became such a hit and PSY became a millionaire.
I loved my water wiggle! played w/ it all the time
Bring back Tato Skins!
Those Hostess Pudding Pies look like they could give a 9 yr. old a heart attack
imagine putting free candy in a box of sugary cereal today, it just wouldn't happen
I think I've learn't from all of these 80's commercial compilations that every baby toy in existance is amazingly creepy.
@jjohnsonokla
You're not alone. I loved those pudding pies too, along with the fruit pies. People can recoil all they like but they were one of my many joys of childhood. Haven't thought about a pudding pie in years but now I want one bad. LOL.
The kid in the apple jacks commercial was the guy who fired Roseanne from Chicken Hearts episode lol
I want a Hostess pudding pie, Mom! oh wait damnit.
I'm a little surprised Keebler tried to get in on the potato chip business. Did anyone have those at the time? Were they good?
And surely Barney can get a discount on that cereal when he's on the freaking box!
ScratStitch yes they were actually awesome. They were great. Another awesome 1980s chip were Pizzerias which were basically pizza flavored Doritos.
Today, that Water Wiggle thing is a lawsuit waiting to happen.
That Water Wiggle looks toned down from the version I remember from the 1970s, which was like a medieval torture device. We used it once and NEVER again!

Advice about fire from Mung Daal, he knows something about kitchen fires
@kerberos623 The original comics themselves involved the two guys on all sorts of adventures from what I noticed. Hardly any of them were ever published in the US besides the story that introduced The Smurfs ("The Smurfs and the Magic Flute").
Barney Rubble: The original troller.
i dont recommend watching this while paying bills....*misty eyed*
Barney may have been imitating Prince, but they wouldn't dare mention him by name, for fear of being sued! Also Barney may have went to Pathrock to buy Pebbles, but it was more fun stealing Fred's!!!
Barney makes a clean getaway! And what was that Smurfs episode that was in that promo?
The Moor's Baby Season 3 Episode 34
you couldnt miss mark paul gosselaars smile
@jjohnsonokla Put me down on the "few who loved" list. Especially the Ninja Turtles variation. Monstrously good.
How dose a sink catch on Fire?
Luckily Jaleel didn't perish in that fire, or the world wouldn't have been introduced to the annoyance that is/was Steve Urkel.
i think i gagged at that pudding pie commercial, disgusting! who the hell eats lukewarm pudding? haha!
Why do breakfast serial adverts always encourage theft?
@drsnowmon Sure thing! Hope you find them!
@superapple4ever The bigger question is... Where the hell are their parents?
Does anybody else think that it was a bit overtly hostile and bratty when that little boy in the pudding pie commercial blurted out, "CREEP!" at the older girl when she ate the whole pudding pie without giving him any? I mean, she WAS being a creep, but I thought it a bit strange to put something like that in a commercial. Showing kids name-calling is not a very good precendent. Even for the 80's...
Holy cow, that pudding pie looked disgusting! I don't remember seeing those around.
I have that poster
You have purchased -chocolate chip cookies-. You may also enjoy -movies about karate-. If not, consider it a prize.

@GokuMcDuck Forgive my ignorance, but I'm not sure what you mean.
I think the Pebbles cereals tasted better in the 80's.
No they do'nt. However, I found "TGI Friday's Potato Skins" in chip form that are similar to those.
That water wiggle looks so unsafe It looks like it’s hitting the kids in the head and the hose is wrapping around them looks scary
Listen to Murdock about fire, kids. Or he'll send B. A. Baracus to your house and he'll kick your ass.
Zack Morris. Swag.
@sjm757
Like Slimer's HiC right?
@QuietSundayLibrary or the awesomeness of Sonic the Hedgehog.
Robot costume FAIL. If you freeze the frame you can see Barney's head as he transforms. He needs more than help -- he needs to get his own damn Pebbles
Some of those One To Grow On segments were cheesy -- but this one with Murdock and Urkel is pretty epic
No pudding pie for you -- NOT YOURS
Every chewy one is REAL FRUITY FUN BWAHAHAHAHA
I was born 20 days after these aired
@QuietSundayLibrary lol
