    CHRIS’S SISTER-IN-LAW’S BACON-WRAPPED KIELBASA
    1 lb smoked kielbasa
6-8 strips bacon, depending on length (see step 2)
    1 C brown sugar
    toothpicks
    1. Slice the kielbasa into 1-inch-wide rounds.
    2. Slice the bacon into roughly 4-inch lengths, or just long enough that you can wrap it around a piece of sausage with a little overlap. Wrap a piece of bacon around the circumference of each piece of sausage, using a toothpick to secure the bacon. Carefully place all the wrapped-and-skewered sausage in a sealable gallon-size plastic bag (or another container with a lid).
    3. Sprinkle the brown sugar over the sausages and seal the bag. Allow to marinate for at least 2 hours, and preferably overnight. Give the bag a turn every now and then, whenever you remember.
    4. Turn on your broiler.
    5. Line a sheet tray with foil or parchment, and arrange the bacon-wrapped kielbasa in a single layer. Slide into the oven, about 4 inches from the broiler, and cook for 4-5 minutes, or until the bacon has rendered and begun to crisp. Flip the pieces over and broil for another 2-3 minutes. Allow to cool slightly before serving, or better yet, do this in advance and keep the sausages warm in a Crockpot or rice cooker. The longer they sit, the better they'll get.
