In 1981 a new believer, one of my first Christian albums was Mansion Builder by 2nd Chapter of Acts. For years after that I followed the group got all their albums including Matthew's albums. And I think they can be purchased now through iTunes. This sister brother group made a huge impact on those who came in during the Jesus people movement or shortly thereafter. And still continues to bless the body of Christ today. Just ordinary people who love Jesus with all their heart and are amazingly gifted. Such a blessing.
Here it is 2015 and this vocalist is unheard of by most of society. Most young christians dont even know of him. This guy is in a vocal league of his own, and he is so humble he probably does not even realize it.
Good thing God gives us time to realize singers like him/music like this exist. I didn't until today. Search and you will find, scripture says =) Thanx for the upload.

I won't get into the mechanics of this, but he's NOT lip synching....what he's doing is actually much harder than performing this stuff live in the normal sense. We had so much going on keyboard wise we had to use sequencers, samplers etc and you'll notice the drummer and I wore phones but not Matt. I have worked with some great singers but don't know anybody else who could pull this off the way he did! The bass drums and guitars, and about 90% of the keys were live. Not too shabby for 1987!
I loved every element of this performance! All the musicians are awesome and Matthew! Such fun and spiritually encouraging and important!!! These songs are some of my favorite! Thank you for sharing!!

What a powerful, fliud, yet impeccably precise voice! For a REAL treat listen to "O For a Thousand Tongues to Sing" on 2nd Chapter of Acts' Hymns Collction cd. When they break to sing hallelujahs midway through, I always feel like I'm about to be transported to heaven right then. This family doesn't perform, they lead you in worship! What a sweet gift they've been to the world for 30+ years!

You were playing bass guitar behind the best male rock vocalist I have ever heard in my life. Must have been a gas to back that guy up. :-) Been a fan of M.W. for a long long time...back to the days of Keith Green and David And The Giants. Long time ago.
When I see him on stage... it's clear that he is not a performer or entertainer. His voice is a phenomenal gift, but his presentation has no polish. He is NOT a SUPERSTAR. There is a clear lack of showmanship. But this is not a criticism. This is what it looks like to be authentic. This is what humility looks like. Service, obedience, comes first. Everything else is just trappings and special effects... Whitewash. And it's so conspicuous.. because we rarely see it. And if you ever meet him in person PLEASE I beg you.... don't tell him he's your idol. That didn't go well at all. (I was VERY young AND a new Christian). I believe that he and his 2 sisters were very concerned about becoming a distraction from the WORD and were always having to emphasize in their messages that it wasn't about them. They never sought fame and fortune, only to passionately share all that God had done for them and all HE offers to every human. Seeing ourselves as servants and messengers is the best identity we can build.

I saw 2nd Chapter i the early and mid 80's any time they were anywhere near Charlotte,NC. I was going to a Christian college there. We would load my little Toyota up and go on the roadtrip.
Lee - i would love to have more info on the recording of this Album. I always thought Dann played most of the guitars but also see Curt listed. Mike Baird tears it up on drums. Matthews vocals on this live recording are unbelievable. makes it look so easy. Band sounds great!

Matthew still performs, mostly at local church & conference events. He has had many personal challenges including cancer & the passing of a daughter.
