@@soraneptune4178 The thing is that if you decline the Evans Gambit, White just gets an improved Italian game where he gets all the play he wants in the center. Doesn't make sense to decline a gambit where Black would be better than in an ordinary Italian game, to get a position where Black is worse than in an ordinary Italian game right ? Also if Black accepts the gambit, with very accurate play the position is close to equal despite the pawn down. That's why I love this gambit ;)
your understanding of this game, and the way you explain it to us is just amazing!! once you heard the puup! sound, you just know that opposition is gone
These are really great man. I used to watch your SLCC lectures from like 2015 when I was first starting out (same year!). With no offense meant, while the content was great, you seemed a little nervous in those. I only bring this up because I want to compliment you on how natural and personable these upload seem. Personality-wise, you and JB really stand out as extremely normal, nice-seeming dudes. And the content remains stellar, obviously.
1:55 Only move rarer than Bc5 in the masters database is Bf8. Be7 and even Bd6 are more common than Bc5. I question the claim that Bc5 is the second most common move.
@@klay1955 I always look at the Masters database tbh, or if I do look at Lichess players then only the higher rating and slower time control ones. So now I did look at Lichess players, and at 2k+ rating in Rapid and Classical time controls together - Bc5 is the 3rd most popular move. I don't know why I actually never thought of looking at openings for other ratings than Masters. Quite the interesting idea tbh.
i have studied this, Be7 and Ba5 are the main moves according to modern main line theory. The rest are all just sidelines, but inexperienced players who dont know any better will play 5. ...Bc5?! a lot. I personally find 5. ...Be7! the most challenging to deal with as white.
I don’t go 1.e4 hardly ever. But when I do, I’m trying for the Evans Gambit. It is the perfect opening. It’s just tough to get in that position ALL the time now.
Hey Jon, I'd love a video on Evan's Gambit theory! Usually when I play it but it's never like Morphy. I like playing e4 and playing Bc4, very Italian-like and do find myself in Evan's gambit situations. Also great videos recently! I'm liking the variety!
the rook is the only piece guarding the queening square. it can't go to h7 because g8=Q+ so after the queen exchange on the e file black has to sac the rook to stop promotion. now your just down a rook against Paul Morphy
15:17 not an even trade of material at all. Black weakens his pawn structure, to utterly destroy it regardless of outcome. It's good to have examples of things like this.
Good Evans Sir! I have found a relevant argument to which you may agree. A parameter which must be brought to counciousness. Bcoz it weighs heavily on the accuracy of computer analysis. You seem to constantly argue that the computer analysis is slow, bad and many times irrelevant. In your Nakhmanson series. Well... there is a button missing in the analysis. "A relevant Humanoid moves - button". So it can be toggled on and off, naturally. It should weigh in possibilities and options for one player in comparison with the other. And compare which player has more pawn moves which desperately needs to be executed - compared to the other who has more possibilities and "piecemoves" despite being material down and has a minus score. But to a computer all moves are considered. And seems to be equally important and easy to find. To humans however as we well know (I am referring to the Homer Simpson illustration where he moves the queen - and Lela star moves the pawns) pieceplay is easier to spot. This ought to be mentioned to the Stockfish developper team. I should call them myself. But I see myself as irrelevant. Anyway great upload thx.
of course you wouldnt be able to get this opening on the board against the sicilian defense, any e4 e5 Nf3 Nc6 opening for white cannot be achieved against the sicilian as black pushed the c pawn before the knight in the sicilian
Yes Id love to see a video on Evan's Gambit theory
"This other game was too long to make the cut"
Basically shows the whole game...
HAHAHAHAHHAHAH
The point was the 17 moves he was talking about in the title, for it to be considered a crushing win/attack. He never mentioned video time..
Agadmator, Levy from Gotham Chess and now your video! A real treat for fans of the Evans Gambit.
I wanna try to defend against evans gambit versus a good enough player.
@@LeventK the best way to defend against the majority of gambits is to always just refute or decline them.

Nice video. I love the Evan's gambit to get people out of their boring prep. Keep making gambit videos :)
Wow, really great video! You deserve way more subscribers and views.

Some may say this is copying another channel but I gotta give it to you for putting a unique spin on a trending topic. Well done!
I would really love to binge watch all 50 games of Morpfy using Evan's gambit.

In the lichess players database Ba5 and Bc5 are the most popular moves. Bc5 has over twice as many games as Be7 which is 3rd most popular

Very nice, the theory video about legendary evans gambit you mentioned would be great watch
Something about the way Morphy beat his opponents was very satisfying.
Best gambit ever
14:56… why did the knight take in f6, and not the G pawn ?
Great thanks
I am not sure what is meant by "the rook is trapped on the back rank " unless I am missing something the H file seems open like H7 ?
the rook is the only piece guarding the queening square.
it can't go to h7 because g8=Q+
so after the queen exchange on the e file black has to sac the rook to stop promotion.
now your just down a rook against Paul Morphy
Then the pawn Queens?
I’d like a video on the Evans gambit theory please
