    You are so animated, Proko, teamed with a vivacious personality. Such good stuff, the way you put together all the elements of black, grey and white makes complete and total sense. Its wonderful that you bring this portrait to life on paper the way you do. Unique and well-rounded techniques, practised over years and finally letting our eyes feast on... such great visual candy! Thank you for doing this for us! So Appreciated and so glad to have stumbled upon you guys...

    Oh, about 2 minutes more to take some of the squareness off the chin line. Also, maybe 1 min to shave a little off the height of the nose. Then, this would have been NAILED!!!! As it stands, the subject looks more WARRIOR masculine in the drawing than visible in the photo. However, if I observed the subject's right profile, this might be SPOT ON, LOL😁🤣😂. Nonetheless, GREAT WORK!!! I am just always thinking about the DOPPLEGANGERS. So, as we know a millimeter or centimeter off, and you end up having a different person. SO SCARY TO THINK ABOUT. Thanks for the lesson. I need ALL THE TUTORING/PRACTICE I can get.

    Sorry, Stan, but I strongly disagree with your assessment and timeframe of grid use. When I was a kid, grids in puzzle/coloring books skyrocketed my skill. It taught me to accurately visualize proportions and trained me to visualize a grid for more accurate transfers from visual to paper. Grids are a very beginner technique, training the hand and eye. It should be done from the beginning. Doing it years later will be pointless.
    The top of the model's nose cartilage should have been the middle line. His face is in quarters, not thirds: forehead, eyebrows down to top of nose cartilage, nose cartilage to midline of mouth, and midline of mouth to chin area are all generally the same length. Thirds is only one type of face.
    You get eyes wrong because you draw the way you think eyes look based on your training and not the actual planes of the eye in front of you.

    • @Dismythed
      @Dismythed 2 роки тому

      @@myles5158 I look at the subject in front of me, not at the library in my head. The library is for creating fantasy characters, not for copying what's right in front of you.

      If it helps to get going why not, so long as it doesn't become a crutch to lean on.
      The goal should be to mentally access proportions and then accurately execute without the use of measuring devices. It's the artists right-of-passage.
