- Team Dominator intercepts a QLCS tornado that caused structure damage east of Glencoe, MN through Plato. The goal was to deploy gravity wave sensors ahead of a tornado but this circulation happened so fast as a linear convective system
I dunno about any other minnesotans but ive been here for 28 years and never seen so much hail, and we're still super early in the season
Nice to see you intercepting in my state. The storms here have been crazy recently!
You were 14 minutes away from me!! Cool. Thank you for what you do
Spent most of the day with youtube live feed on. Thankyou so much for bringing us minute by minute info ahead of these storms. You are the hero today!
I'm in Montrose. I saw this same thing headed right for town and in a second the wind rain and hail were blasting. I ran to the basement and heard the loudest wind. For a few minutes and then it was gone. Crazy!
Funny, I also live in Montrose, Buffalo was hit pretty bad too, we had to take shelter
I live in Elk River MN. We had some wicked rain, and wind. Some of the trees looked like it was going in circles!! We also had small hail. My son was driving home to Ramsey MN in it an saw a funnel cloud. Kare 11 weather was saying straight lined winds are possible. Prayers to everyone effected by this system!!!
I used to work at the von Hanson's meat market there, ever been?
@Scott Bauerman von hansons is owned by the von banks, elk river meats is different yeah?
The Twin Cities and Minnesota were very fortunate today. The upper level trough/low lifted NNE with very little eastward component. As the result, the LLJ and the Mid-level winds were more parallel than perpendicular resulting in a QLCS moving NNE. Had there been a more eastward vector in the movement of the upper-level low/ trough, we would have gotten discrete supercells moving NE or worse, turning to the right and moving E. That likely would have caused a major tornado outbreak.
I LIVE IN MINIAPOLIS!
I'm glad it didn't because I live in the twin cities metro area. While I'm happy, it's still sad for those that were hit by the worst of the storms
I'm from Duluth I don't think there's ever been a tornado here before
Lol my buddies and I were talking trash about how weak this storm was.
@@Xmc1-0 is that where you learned to spell Minneapolis too
I kid you not, there had to have been a tornado in Buffalo/Montrose tonight because what you're video shows of this tornado match my photos taken where I was. There's also debris flying around while I was driving and even knocked down several tree branches and pieces of wood planks flying around while I'm trying to make it back home 😅 needless to say I did make it home safe, but it was very intense because the rain was coming down in sheets; Nor could you see two feet in front of of the vehicle because of how quickly and windy it was. I was definitely glad I was driving away from wherever the wind was pulling the trees and debris because I know otherwise... Super cool seeing your footage though compared to mine 😊
well, there was a tornado warning issued for a storm cell that basically passed on a straight line from Montrose to Buffalo on Memorial Day. it was a radar indicated tornado and not a confirmed one at the time it was issued, but that just means no trained spotters spotted one before the warning was issued.
Today was a spooky weather day in MN. Thanks for stopping by and showing us the craziness. Stay safe.
Yesterday morning you forecasted an area for tornadoes and that's the area where most of the tornadoes struck. That's what is really necessary to be prepared- accurate forecasting.
Tornado in Minnesota, holy cow! Great footage
Great job Reed im 15 and have been watching you since you were first aired on discovery, love it
I'm glad you're a storm follower, maybe you'll be a chaser too. It's good to see the next generation interested.. Keep Chasing as Reed says
Just don't break traffic laws like he does putting even more lives at risk.
@@scottrose7728 it’s MN you think traffic less exist? 😂
Hudson Matz, referring to Andover tornado DA.
@@scottrose7728 I feel like traffic laws would be the last thing on someone's mind if there's a twister around. That's just me tho, I'd rather live to see another day to actually obey them.
You're the best and thank you for helping me pass the time while I'm home and can't leave the house. I'm a caretaker for my mom and had to stay home with her this weekend since she wasn't feeling well. When I watch you in chase mode, the time seems to go by faster. Love the new set up on your live feeds.
For those Reed Timmer fans, watch "Tornado Glory"....a nice little documentary featuring Reed Timmer and Joel Taylor when first starting out together chasing storms.
Reed is the king of over exaggerating. Hed have scared me to death when I was a kid. Where's tim samarus when u need him....r.i.p.
For also fans of reed watch the youtube docu series when he's allways waking up late, freaking everyone out an annoying his driver's every episode. One of them quit cuz he said he made it not fun. Joel.
Great drone footage. I feel so bad for the farmers who got hit, it's tough to make a living without having that happen,
I was thinking the same thing. ☹️
@@texlahomagirl9809 Right? I love watching Reed and others, but I hate when people are hurt and suffer those loses.
As long as nobody was injured. And all of the farmers in Minnesota I know are very well off financially. Very well off.
That was my house
@@KellysWXcoverage OMG I am so sorry! I hope no one was injured. I'm sorry for the damage to your beautiful property.
Minnesota weather is just terrifying. Anytime of year.
You wanna hear about terrifying look up videos of large tornadoes during the night
@@imbatmam4760 dude that's the worst part imo, any natural disaster happening at night.
needed a clip of that storm thank you man. The last part is my girlfriends Dads farm, luckily nobody was harmed. Just the two barns and some trees down
We live in Norwood Young America, which is about 15 minutes west of Glencoe. We decided to head out to Chanhassen (about 30 minutes west of where we live) for a picnic and so glad we did! We missed all that scary stuff. When we got back, there were tree branches down everywhere, some trees uprooted, even a porta-potty knocked over at Kwik Trip (hopefully no one was inside!) We knew something went on; no tornado in our town but definitely some high guest straight line winds.
Hey neighbor! We just moved to norwood about a month ago and thankfully had no damage but the sirens were going off and I got some cool photos! Crazy this was so close to us and Reed Timmer was here!
@@milfuto420I used to live in Norwood and it is a pretty place to bike!
It was extremely windy in the Twin Cities as well. We lost power for a few hours in St.Paul this evening ahead of the squall line, but nothing but some decent showers at about 7:30.
Thank you, Reed for all your hard work. I hate that the farmers got hit. ☹️
Especially since we can’t really get much crop in cause of all the rain weird year
That's one lucky farmer it could of been much worse, take care today folks x
This dude has the best life
He's well educated with tremendous enthusiasm for what he does. An absolute winning combination!
bro this year theres so much cool tornadic events already, im alr excited for the "tornadoes of 2022" from pecos hank, anyways its good to see timmer upload vlogs or clips of tornadoes
Watched you and Ryan hall today! Had to end the chase trip today so best way was to to watch you all! 🌪
Love watching them both! My kids are like and Ryan does
Not even swear!!
@@kellyahola4041 yeah they are great!
I live in the northwestern part of Wisconsin and this wind has been horrible that it doesn't surprise me a tornado formed.
I live in northern Wisconsin.🙂
Praying for all the farmers, their crops, & livestock. ✝️🕊️🙏
Fantastic drone footage!
Been a stormy spring in Minnesota so far this year. It's almost like it's making up for last year's dry summer. Stay safe out there everyone!
Most definitely, i am actually happy considering it hadnt rain much the last couple years. Everything is so green here in Minneapolis
@@Dotman89 Yeah , nice to see everything green again.
Glad that house was spared , beautiful home.
Here's a strange convergence of coincidences. I'm a former resident of Norwood-Young America, MN, about 10-12 miles from the first storm of this video and now live in South Dakota. I was caught in Sioux Falls during the second storm. As I'm watching this, the advertisement below the video is for the Marines, which is why I was in Sioux Falls, my son and I were at the recruitment center. We decided not to drive home, but wait out the storm in a parking lot with building to our west to help shield us from the wind. I had my son call my daughter who was an hour north of us to make sure she was home and safe. They didn't know about the weather coming her way, but her and her roommate made it home safe. I called my husband who was 30 minutes south, and he had taken cover with our youngest daughter and dog. We saw the same thing, a wall of storm clouds that reached from the ground to high in the sky with a darker wall of dirt from the fields that looked like the sandstorm from the Mummy movies coming towards us. We were all ok. The drone footage is just about every farm east of I-29 from Sioux Falls to Watertown. The Brookings area took the biggest hit.
Thank you sir for all the work you do. Be safe
I was on live for 4 hours with y'all and still missed the good part
What a nice evening for a twister, add some excitement to a dull night here in sunny California.
There was confirmed rotation just North-northwest of Savage. We were getting heavy wind direction shifts from out of the South-southeast to West-southwest with hail carried by the winds out of the Southwest. Thought my windows were going to break or a tree branch was going to spear through a window.
I live in Oregon. We had very cold, high winds both Friday and Saturday. I had a feeling it was going to collide with the warmer air in the Mid- West somewhere.
I'm also in OR. Wish we would get a tornado to liven it up but only if it is small and going through a field :-) I know we have had a few in the Salem area. A few years ago we had a funnel cloud which I saw near Hillsboro/Tanasbourne/ PCC Rock Creek
@@carasmussen27 I heard about that one. I live in Southern Oregon , near Klamath Falls. We had a F2 tornado in 1988. It knocked down a couple of barns, and some smaller sheds. Luckily , no houses were damaged.
Thank You Reed and your team. Think it may be worse tomorrow and Wed.
Watched your stream fir about an hour around 4pm central but then had to leave for work. Just got home to see this
Tornado in pine river Minnesota that I was potentially inside of that happed around 6:30 cdt
That was a rain wrapped tornado you found!
I watched the storm chasers on tv. Pretty cool that you were in Minnesota chasing this storm!
Never Stop Chasing!
Hope you and y’alls team are okay now, sir. That’s crazy, whoa !!!!
Should have seen the meso cyclone that hit us 2 weeks ago.
No tornado, but the winds were more insane than this storm
I live in Glencoe and it was definitely rainy! We had a repairman that day, so we rode out the warning in the basement.
20 minutes south of Glencoe in Sibley County, we had the same strong gusts of wind and rain as well. It damaged two of our trees. No hail in Gaylord, though.
I wish I had the camera man's godly high energy when im at work
Nice Tornado Reed Never Stop Chasing
Damn, I live in Jordan MN. We got some wind, rain, and some really low clouds.
Heh, my home state! Glencoe was a place hit pretty hard back in the 1965 Tornado Outbreak.
Stay safe guys 😳😳
My daughter was driving on I 94 between St Cloud and the twin cities about two weeks ago through a thunderstorm. She Facetimed me and said is that a funnel cloud? And indeed it was, in the field almost next to where she was driving. I told her, get out of there! She said I can’t! There is construction and traffic and no where to go. Thankfully she got past where the funnel cloud was and was able to go on but she was driving through hail and high winds. It was terrifying to see.
Prayers to the ones affected in this outbreak.
So you are offering nothing but something to make YOU feel better.

I live there and yup that was definetly a crazy storm.
I remember this day so well, i was in Buffalo and had straight line winds from it, took down a few trees in my neighborhood
Love the screams - love the excitement!

My family lives there that’s crazy
I live in hinckley Minnesota about east central minnesota and we had straight line winds and a tornado touchdown the same day
It's god bringing all of that love up from the buybull belt.
Nice intercept Reed.
i was over in stpeter about 30mins away and we had straighlines and a rotation just a mile or 2 north of us

Was in hutch and got hit by a 5 minute monsoon. Winds were something else.
Good work
awsome content!!!!!!!!!!
If I was one of those cars driving by seeing a extreme weather team pointing and filming at a storm I would drive away fast
“Look at that!!!” ♥️
Never Stop Chasing!!
I got a picture of the tornado pass us and went through Forada today
Looks like straight winds damage to those structures instead of a tornado, which isn't much consolation when you're dealing with severe damage like that old barn.
Living in Tampa Fl. I can relate to them high wind storms! I lost half a home due to a large oak tree... I just thank God nobody was at home at the time except the cat and she was fine.
In fact she was in heaven climbing all over the fallen tree lol Anyways I hope nobody got injured in any of them structures! GOD please be with all of these people in their time of need!
Thank you guys! Stay safe!
Imagine a tornado vortex with winds of 50 mph rotational but translating at 70 mph. You add the forward speed to the southeast edge of the vortex and subtract it on the opposite side. Fast-moving QLCS tornadoes thus appear like narrow channels of intensive straight line wind with non damaging wind on the other side.
Was actually confirmed an ef1 I live in the damaged zone much much more damage than was shown here. Just north of where Reed was about a half a mile away was hard hit. Luckily no injuries
It looked like the first barn took a direct hit. If it had veered a little bit closer to the house it would have been tooth picks but, I'm guessing that is why there is a tree break catty cornered to the house that helps deflect the wind.
Yes the tree break certainly helped. The house is also a more sturdy structure

This may be the most over hyped tornado day I've ever seen... Where's the big boy tornadoes?
Reed, you should time-stamp your videos.
There are so many companies that make lexan windows. As used a lot in extreme bass car audio competitions. Is that something you would consider for your intercept vehicles?
My 2nd Tornado i have seen was Eagen, MN
Your vehicle got hit hard with the sudden hail that came down hard with a broken windshield.
Tornado BRUTAL!!!!!!
This man was not hysterical and neither are women when we shriek. We always have a good reason!
Welcome to my home state, love ya
Nice catch.
Reed how many windscreen s do you have to replace? The storm rare interesting for people that dont have this weather but the damage and repairs must be bad, stay safe everybody and thank you for the video.
We got a tornado warning in safety harbor, FL
Watching radar in Canada 3 hours north... totally fizzed out here...
You are truly a professional Reed! I wonder how long you have to hunt before you end up in the right place at the right time. I know it can possibly take days or weeks sometimes. That has to be really frustrating. But when you do find this kind of footage, "that's" the pay off right? Do you have any one specific memory of a close call? Where was it? Thanks for these amazing videos!
The drone footage was decent. I'm curious what caused the disturbance in the scene at the very end? Was the issue possibly the metal barn interfering with the GPS on the drone?
I would've watched the tornado/es touch down during the stream but of course it was midnight for me by that time and i have a final exam today. woohoo.
Yep. Felt that last month.
We’ve got cows! Lol
Hi Reed have you ever thought of putting a PTZ dome camera on the roof of the car to view 360° when traveling
Coon rapids had a tornado a month ago this is not the first of the season this far north
Yes this is not the first northern Plains event of the year!
