I feel so bad for bobby, he had so much potential and shane pretty much shit all over it. Bobby was great and had alot to offer but when shane got involved things started to spiral.

So he approached it the Shane way by painting a clear target on Bobby's head aka labelling him as a hater, and then put him in a series of videos to strip away at any points of sympathy that his stans may have towards Bobby, and also make himself look like a nice guy trying to do nice guy things but oops didn't think anyone would come for Bobby

This video is hella telling now. I read that basically Shane love bombarded Bobby which is a manipulative and abusive tactic and it’s SO TRUE. Shane took a young kid with anxiety, flew him to his house and started gifting him really expensive gifts while filming him 24/7. That made feel Bobby indebted to Shane and even more anxious around him. Shane Dawson completely broke that kid and threw him away when the whole confronted my hater didn’t benefit him anymore.

You can even see his body language show his anxiety and being caught off guard with the question. I'd gasp and hold my breath if that was thrown my way. Bobby had great potential and it sucks to see the decline of it. Hopefully he returns to show us what's next.
lie detector tests (or polygraphs) use a thing called the galvanic skin response, which basically shows if a person sweats or not, which of course is a result of plenty of things (among mistruth, yes), but on the flip side, there are some people who can lie and stay completely static, meaning their polygraph incorrectly shows a truth when they actually lied. in conclusion, polygraphs suck and bobby deserved better :(
That part where he gave Bobby a car made me feel uncomfortable. I had friends who love bombed me and then made me feel I was indebt for everything they gave to me. When I tried to leave the group to save my sanity they became aggressive with me and ganged up on me, then threatened to throw me out of our thesis group. Then they tried to act like the victim and said that I was ungrateful for everything they gave to me. It made me feel like shit and I forced myself to act normal and be friends again for the sake of graduating and my diploma. Thank God I survived that dark part of my life though because of the experience I no longer trust people and I don't know how to keep lasting relationships with other people anymore. You really need to be careful with people and try to figure out what their true intentions are.

Yes, lie detector tests can't detect lies. It's a common misconception the law enforcement likes to perpetuate, because it gives them a way to trick people. It mostly detects your stress levels, because in theory, people get nervous when they lie. But people also become nervous for millions of other reasons. For example being suspected of lying and put to the test. Lol. The law enforcement uses it as a trick. To determine how nervous someone is and how they'll react after being told that they failed the test. Some people crack and confess to crimes out of stress and their own ignorance. It’s kind of fitting that Shane used it on Bobby. Shane's a master manipulator and Bobby was an easy target for Shane due to Bobby's anxiety.
I've seen so many true crime shows where the real murderer gets ruled out as a suspect temporarily because they passed a polygraph. Those stone cold murderers can pass polygraph tests because they're psychopaths and can stay calm under pressure. I would never agree to do a test like that because I'm a nervous wreck and the test would probably say I'm lying, even if I'm not.

I had a realization about Bobby Burns.... By giving him a car, Shane was basically love bombing Bobby. Instead of a good faith gift, it was an overwhelming gesture designed to engender loyalty/feeling of indebtedness. And then, through video titles and manipulation, Shane eroded Bobby’s sense of self over the courage of the series. And then didn’t stop his stans from going on the war path. The car wasn’t a nice gesture... it was part of an abuse pattern.

Anaeliseianna having an anxiety disorder doesn’t mean u have a faster heart rate than most people tho.... you get heavy anxiety very easily and often for no reason, it’ll fluctuate and that exact thing is a noted cause of failing a lie detector test regardless of if ur lying.

I just have to say, lie detectors don't *actually* "detect" lies. It's record the heart and respiratory rate of the person hooked up to it. Meaning: it detects rushes in adrenaline. This can be helpful as (with most people) our heart rates increase quite a bit when we knowingly tell a lie. But I think that if someone asked me if I wanted to kill their son and I was already *hooked up to a lie detector,* my heart rate would skyrocket as well.

John Larson(the original inventor) came to hate his machine before he died, stating that he wished he never made it, because he felt that law enforcement was abusing it, since it was only designed to measures stress, and was extremely inaccurate to use it in the way officials were.
Shane used him as a pet project for his ego boost and to switch things up on his own channel because he needed a change on his own channel. when it didn't go as planned he dropped him with no hesitation so he would not get caught up in the backlash he himself caused.

I don't think Shane is fully responsible for what happened. He has e this kid a platform and exposure and Bobby did not adapt successfully or rapidly. The new exposure also left him open for attacks by really fucking trash UA-camrs like that guy that does fake psychology videos on other personalities (He really is fucking trash and has a history of trashing people and accusing them of drug use and mental instability). All in all this is not new and is not an isolated case, fame and exposure can destroy careers not only on your but in many other fields.
Yeah, I stopped watching after he became friends with shane. I didnt watch much of this drama unfold because I unsubbed a bit after he met Shane, but I just wasnt as invested after he amditted “yeah I dramatized how bad Shane’s content was for views.” I don’t generally have issue with exaggeration, but it just felt a bit slimy to admit that was the reason why.

However, I started posting fanart of Gorillaz in 2010, and that made my art skyrocket so much it took me by surprise. people started to recognize me by my Gorillaz fanart, and then by other types of fanart. At first I was ok with that, but then I wanted to post my own art, my own characters and my own stories. Everything that was my original content was completely ignored and left aside for fanart. People started asking for just fanart of what they liked, and I felt like a factory producing art for everyone but me. Five years ago I abandoned the artist name I had back then, and decided to start from scratch on the Internet. Right now nobody knows me, nobody remembers me, and I can draw whatever I want whenever I want. And I couldn't be happier.

I had the same experience!! I got 5k followers in less than a few months bcs of fanart. But then my followers have 0 interest in my original art and telling me tht i should ONLY make fanart. He’s back to his cheerful content again and everyone in the comments of his videos are fully supporting him. Trust, it may seem like you’re alone and don’t have worth but people do appreciate you. There’s so much to live for man. Even with the stuff Bobby went through, he’s staying happy and uploading videos again.
The whole series (I could be wrong) feels like a huge publicity stunt on Shane’s part. He wanted to solidify that he is ‘a kind person’ by being nice to his ‘hater.’ He picked a random video that got a lot of views and contacted Bobby. Inherently, people are selfish, and Shane seems quite manipulative to the trained eye. He used this opportunity to actively portray himself a certain way to the public by tarnishing Bobby in a more discrete way. He labelled Bobby a hater to his massive fan base, hooked him up to a lie detector machine when he clearly has anxiety, and made Bobby look bad. The fact Bobby made a ‘hate’ video and Shane gave him a car makes Shane look like the ‘hero’ and Bobby, the ‘villain.’ Shane knows how nasty the internet can be and set Bobby up for failure since he can’t take criticism and must be liked by everyone. He sat idly by while Bobby’s life crumbled, making money off of the series while Bobby struggled financially. Shane has a giant platform, whereas Bobby didn’t. He used that to his advantage, which causes me to make this conclusion. Bobby is not the hater. Shane is.

Shane took a young kid with anxiety, flew him to his house and started gifting him really expensive gifts while filming him 24/7. That part where he gave Bobby a car made me feel uncomfortable. I had friends who love bombed me and then made me feel I was indebt for everything they gave to me. When I tried to leave the group to save my sanity they became aggressive with me and ganged up on me, then threatened to throw me out of our thesis group. Then they tried to act like the victim and said that I was ungrateful for everything they gave to me. It made me feel like shit and I forced myself to act normal and be friends again for the sake of graduating and my diploma. Thank God I survived that dark part of my life though because of the experience I no longer trust people and I don't know how to keep lasting relationships with other people anymore. You really need to be careful with people and try to figure out what their true intentions are.

It mostly detects your stress levels, because in theory, people get nervous when they lie. But people also become nervous for millions of other reasons. For example being suspected of lying and put to the test. Lol.
The law enforcement uses it as a trick. To determine how nervous someone is and how they'll react after being told that they failed the test. Some people crack and confess to crimes out of stress and their own ignorance.

I've seen so many true crime shows where the real murderer gets ruled out as a suspect temporarily because they passed a polygraph. Those stone cold murderers can pass polygraph tests because they're psychopaths and can stay calm under pressure. I had a realization about Bobby Burns.... By giving him a car, Shane was basically love bombing Bobby. Instead of a good faith gift, it was an overwhelming gesture designed to engender loyalty/feeling of indebtedness.
And then, through video titles and manipulation, Shane eroded Bobby’s sense of self over the courage of the series. And then didn’t stop his stans from going on the war path.
The car wasn’t a nice gesture... it was part of an abuse pattern.

I just have to say, lie detectors don't *actually* "detect" lies. It's record the heart and respiratory rate of the person hooked up to it. Meaning: it detects rushes in adrenaline. This can be helpful as (with most people) our heart rates increase quite a bit when we knowingly tell a lie. But I think that if someone asked me if I wanted to kill their son and I was already *hooked up to a lie detector,* my heart rate would skyrocket as well.

John Larson(the original inventor) came to hate his machine before he died, stating that he wished he never made it, because he felt that law enforcement was abusing it, since it was only designed to measures stress, and was extremely inaccurate to use it in the way officials were.
Shane used him as a pet project for his ego boost and to switch things up on his own channel because he needed a change on his own channel. when it didn't go as planned he dropped him with no hesitation so he would not get caught up in the backlash he himself caused.

I don't think Shane is fully responsible for what happened. He has e this kid a platform and exposure and Bobby did not adapt successfully or rapidly. The new exposure also left him open for attacks by really fucking trash UA-camrs like that guy that does fake psychology videos on other personalities (He really is fucking trash and has a history of trashing people and accusing them of drug use and mental instability).

Yeah, I stopped watching after he became friends with shane. I didnt watch much of this drama unfold because I unsubbed a bit after he met Shane, but I just wasnt as invested after he amditted “yeah I dramatized how bad Shane’s content was for views.” I don’t generally have issue with exaggeration, but it just felt a bit slimy to admit that was the reason why.
"Fun" fact, I used to post my drawings on Deviantart, and at first nobody paid them much mind. However, I started posting fanart of Gorillaz in 2010, and that made my art skyrocket so much it took me by surprise. people started to recognize me by my Gorillaz fanart, and then by other types of fanart.
At first I was ok with that, but then I wanted to post my own art, my own characters and my own stories. Everything that was my original content was completely ignored and left aside for fanart.
People started asking for just fanart of what they liked, and I felt like a factory producing art for everyone but me. Five years ago I abandoned the artist name I had back then, and decided to start from scratch on the Internet. Right now nobody knows me, nobody remembers me, and I can draw whatever I want whenever I want. And I couldn't be happier.

It's been proven by Adam Ruins Everything that Lie Detectors only became "popular" because of the Maury Show, which has also been proven to be fake, too. There's also a lot more reasoning as to why Lie Detectors aren't reliable but it's best to watch that episode on Adam Ruins Everything.

the sad part is that this is a recurring thing that happens. shane's audience is so big that they often get out of control on his behalf and having so many people to be responsible of is overwhelming especially for someone like him. i just wish whenever situations like this happen shane would be able to have better control over his fans instead of letting it escalate like this

i'm starting to really dislike that lie detector administrator. He's on everything and perpetuates the myth that lie detector tests are completely infallible, which he either believes and therefore is not a good scientist whatsoever or he's lying which makes him morally reprehensible for carving out this 'lie detector' for the stars business and making money off tests that can ruin someone's life.
The Vlog Squad was talking about him on one of Jasons videos. They were discussing how it's kind of a known thing that the guy picks and chooses what is "true" and that he gave them all bad vibes.

I remember watching Bobby's movie reviews and his analysis on apology videos. I loved his content quite a bit and he always struck me as quite the smart guy, pointing out things I hadn't even considered at the time. I strayed off from his content for a while then got recommended his Shane video, watched it and yeah, he was kind of rude at times but still made good points. After watching Shane's response, I got a bad feeling but didn't watch any further because I just didn't care, lol. Then, I saw the thumbnail of "buying my hater a car" and I felt alarmed. That seemed really out of the blue and very, very much intended to make Shane look as the kind, understanding dude. I was so sad to see Bobby evolve the way he did, exploited by Shane and thrown away like a forgotten toy. Makes me quite sad.
I’m not an avid Shane enthusiast or hater, but I think this whole this was largely his fault if not entirely. He is literally a UA-cam demigod, he brought attention to this youtube novice, made him a member of his team, made it seem like he supported him, gave him a polygraph test (while not researching its validity in an OBVIOUS attempt to dramatize the video), was completely silent when his fandom mauled this guy.... so on and so forth, I don’t know weather or not Shane is a bad person (I don’t know him personally), but that doesn’t matter, he did a very bad thing that ended up really hurting somebody.

The whole series (I could be wrong) feels like a huge publicity stunt on Shane’s part. He wanted to solidify that he is ‘a kind person’ by being nice to his ‘hater.’ He picked a random video that got a lot of views and contacted Bobby. Inherently, people are selfish, and Shane seems quite manipulative to the trained eye. He used this opportunity to actively portray himself a certain way to the public by tarnishing Bobby in a more discrete way. He labelled Bobby a hater to his massive fan base, hooked him up to a lie detector machine when he clearly has anxiety, and made Bobby look bad. The fact Bobby made a ‘hate’ video and Shane gave him a car makes Shane look like the ‘hero’ and Bobby, the ‘villain.’ Shane knows how nasty the internet can be and set Bobby up for failure since he can’t take criticism and must be liked by everyone. He sat idly by while Bobby’s life crumbled, making money off of the series while Bobby struggled financially. Shane has a giant platform, whereas Bobby didn’t. He used that to his advantage, which causes me to make this conclusion. Bobby is not the hater. Shane is.
