I want to believe they'll give Winter Sothis an even better treatment since she doesn't have DC but my god i don't know what IS may be cooking for her at this point
Seeing Bridal catria's banner at C rank when we all realized too late how good she was is still mind-blowing to me, we really were so focused on the menace at hand we didn't pay attention to a potential savior istg
Understandable that powercreep keeps a game running, but the powercreep is ramping up to that hypothetical second game you were talking about. It seems where powercreep came in waves every year or so, it now comes with every single banner. They seem to realize they made something too strong so they release 3 things that can kill it over the next 3 banners. But now those things are too strong so they've gotta do it again. And especially on seasonal banners, they get aggressively overpowered only to go away for another year after a few weeks. These characters in particular are way above and beyond, but by the next year they won't be at all.
Let's collectively say a prayer of thanks to FEH's 500 Chosen Ones for funding our monthly fix of high-quality waifu and husbando PNGs. We love you guys.
One another positive thing about powercreep is that it helps new player get around the same power level as older player that have max invested old units since new units are pretty competitive at base.
Yeah dragalia is a really interesting case study, it was notorious for being one of the most generous gachas and people loved it for that, but that also kinda led to its downfall. will definitely get its own vid in the future!
My thoughts exactly. I think she was not the best example for 4.0 powercreep here, since she's more like 5.0 powercreep or smth. But definitely, she was more game breaking than Cain or any Hector in their respective ages. At least that's how I experienced it.
In Mario Kart Tour, Once you get a item, you never have to buy them again. All you get is a level up from dupes, which you can get for free with tickets
to be fair, the rate of powercreep we're going at is absolutely terrible. yes powercreep in gacha is fine, no need to worry. what is terrible is the rate of powercreep and how fast it is.
In Punishing: Gray Raven, some characters never even get a literal second before powercreep, because they’re weaker than some previously released characters.
As far as I’m aware, powercreep isn’t too bad if you know how to introduce the mechanics at the right pace. Card games like Yugioh and Shadowverse really nailed it. Shadowverse in particular earns my vote of approval as their new mechanics made the game more dynamic. Enhance allows weaker low cost early game cards to be strong late while accelerate let’s you play stronger but higher cost cards that would normally be bricks early. Then there are cards that are summoned from your deck via invocation after you fulfill certain conditions which helps double down on specific play styles especially since a lot of these cards are usually win cons.
My belief on power creep is this: if the new thing is easy to obtain, or the rate to get them isn't to low, it's fine. If it's too hard to get or it's rates are *fucking genshin's rates,* the power creep is a major issue
I love how even though powercreep is always a factor in FEH, the devs go out of their way to make old units still viable. (DF, Resplendent, Support boosts) I just recently started playing the game after a 2 year break and was able to get my +10 Camilla up to par with the recent Legendary Banner and her new Plegian Axe
I don't mind powercreep but i think they overdid it with fedelgard. She came out and she was so strong that for every banner ever since there was at least one unit tonspecificly counter her. The reason being obvious but it hurt that you couldn't really use your favs anymore. now with rearms that problem is luckily solved
i agree with your points, and i think this was a really well thought out discussion! it still stings when my favorite characters aren't able to keep up with everything but most characters still have specific niches they can fill despite being outdated. powercreep is tolerable when older strategies are functional but just no longer optimal i think. money is cool too so that is nice.
I'm a simple man. Feh decides to powercreep everyone I love? I take their powercreep and make my husbandos and waifus into gods beyond any Hero they cook up in rage against the heavens >:D
Powercreeep is good for the game's profitability and longevity but not necessarily for its enjoyment or quality. I do not understand this notion that a game has to last forever. People simply lose interest and how soon that is depends on how interesting the game is. FE Heroes is not that interesting a game especially compared to the main series tittles. It does have value though, just not 5 years worth of value. Imagine if there was never any power creep or gatcha aspect to the game? How long would most people play a watered down version of FE? Most players would be satisfied with their experience once they maxed the strongest units and achieved the most prestigious rank. The only reason that people maintain interest is because powercreep requiring players to pull for new units to achieve the same prestige. It's mostly using the same strategies and taking advantage of the same fundamental game mechanics but with a new more powerful unit. Fundamental mechanics such as having higher numbers than your opponent on the battle screen. Yeah powercreep is good for continuing the game's developer support but is playing FE Heroes an experience worth continuing?
And then there's Genshin Impact, where even a F2P player can beat the hardest content with characters they had for years, but people still spend because the new characters just are as good looking and fun as the old ones.
Arknights is pretty good in the powercreep department - obviously it exists to some extent, there's a reason "Just Surtr it" is a meme. But here's the difference - stages are designed to be beatable with common, low-level operators. Sometimes it's even better to use lower rarity operators insted of higher rarity ones. Being a single player game obviously helps to keep powercreep in check aswell.
Man, I love how Sothis’s refine made her so much better than many of today’s meta and powercrept units. 🙃
yeah it was so great haha copium 😞
Solid copium
Liquid copium

At least Sirius II is pretty good
Thank you connerzac for powercreeping my dad by spending more time with me than him
any time
One of the things I personally like about powercreep, at least in Feh, is the considerable amount of new mechanics popping up to keep things fresh
couldnt agree more!
@@Super_EpicGuy bro im not reading a full 30 pages essay every time a new unit comes out

L!sigurd, F!Edelgard and Catria’s banners all happened consecutively (probably not in that order) so basically mid 2021 was the fall of the FEH meta

Agreed!

For sure, thats one of the main things that gets new players to stick around. wish i had brought this up!
This is why Dragalia Lost was actually fun
Yeah dragalia is a really interesting case study, it was notorious for being one of the most generous gachas and people loved it for that, but that also kinda led to its downfall. will definitely get its own vid in the future!
Powercreep is good but Fallen Edelgard is literally the definition of going overboard.

Here before this video blows up because this video delivers on all standpoints incredibly well, great work zac!

Lmao Price is the perfect background music for this subject
Lol glad someone noticed that bit

This is a good well edited video!
The funny thing is that Hector doesn't have a weapon refine but you still put the divine dew next to him lol 🤣

The C[z]P(ConnerZac pass) will be powercreeped.
Support Powercreep generally has a much longer lifespan then main DPS powercreep from what I've seen

If you dont enjoy the game any more that's fine, but there are plenty of people who do and want to see it continue
Great video!
0:22 What is the song that played in the background please.

This is legal but illegal at The same time
