Three videos in this series: Marzio Lavetti warming up the bike. Two with Mauro Cintolesi, a former Rumi team rider in the 1950’s, riding the bike around the Pirelli Pista Prova track near Malpensa Airport. Malpensa is the main airport near Milan.
Gobbetto is "hunchback" in Italian, due to the hunchback resemblance of the gas tank. During restoration by Franco and Marzio Lavetti, noted Rumi specialists in Italy, the bike was found to have nearly all original parts including the correct frame per the frame number.
Marzio Lavetti also confirmed correct, original engine with proper numbers
Gobbettos were the Rumi factory team’s racing bikes, winning the 1954 Italian Championship held at Autodromo Nazionale di Monza
Rumi literature purports 40 total models produced between the 1st and 2nd series models
1 of 2 authentic first series Gobbettos currently known to exist per Marzio Lavetti, noted Italian Rumi restorer
This bike's restoration and history were featured in a 14 page article in the May, 2007 issue of Motociclismo D’Epoca
