Rio Blast is a very cool character with a sweet gimmick. His mustache is on the level of Man-At-Arms and the crossover with Bravestar was a great idea. Great review! I love those "Toys in the Wild" photos. They tell a great story on their own.
Rio Blast was one of my very favorite & most memorable MOTU figures growing up. He was extremely creative & had tons of cool action features with all the hidden guns. Quite possibly still my favorite MOTU figure asides from Dragon Blaster Skeletor & Stinkor.
in my mind, Blast is the family name so Rio and Col. Are brothers. Rio became a lawman because his brother joined the horde. I do agree that he should be connected to Bravestar. I remember hating how big those figures where as I thought they should work with Rio and MOTU.
Always liked Rio Blast. I imagined he was a space sheriff sent to aid He Man when things got crazy with not just Skeletor, but then Jordan and King Hsss showing up.
One of my favourite Masters. My mom bought me Rio at the Dutch Boy on Westmount road in Kitchener. Toy departments in grocery stores....I miss those days.
This was one of the last figures I got so he's a sentimental favorite. Also one of my sins favorites. Nice timing on this episode as I ordered the Classics version this week. Also learnt something as yesterday my kids were playing with my old Toys and I was wandering what these box things go with. Saw them in the video when Rio Blast was on Thirty-Thirty. Mystery solved.
Rio was one of my faves as a kid. Since I often don't know much about the characters from other toylines that you spotlight, I don't think I've ever appreciated all of the personal narratives and head canon that you share in these videos. I have all of Rio's official lore pretty much memorized already, so here I was really able to focus on and enjoy all of the Bravestarr connections you came up with completely on your own. I admit that I'll never be able to see him as the strong silent type (yee haw buckaroo!), but I love the idea that he might have started out in New Texas before coming to Eternia. Makes a ton of sense. Really nice work.
I was out of MOTU by the time Rio Blast came out but I loved the concept, except a lawman never fit in world of MOTU. He came out in '86 and Bravestarr came out in '87, I always wondered if Blast was originally meant to be part of the Bravestarr line and someone at Mattel said No, we got 30-30 but we're too far in development w/ Rio and put him into the MOTU line. I'm w/ Michael and think he belongs in the BS universe,
I was starting to get out of he man when rio blast came around but i remember him very cool figure. Hey Michael ive never seen that bravestarr poster at 1:59 that is the coolest picture ive seen in awhile would look good on a wall. Great video brother
Heh, I had this toy when I was a kid..to (mis)quote another archetypal Space Cowboy-type, hokey secret powers and ancient swords are no match for a good blaster at your side...and this is one lawman who had all the blasters at - or even in - his sides that he could ever need, yes?! Interesting take on Rio Blast's potential past history with Bravestarr too...wonder where the Galaxy Rangers would fit in, yes? (Also, speaking of crossover head-canons, don't forget that a revived Sherlock Holmes shows up in one Bravestarr story...wonder if he's the same rejuvenated Great Detective that we got in 'Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd Century', eh?). Hope you can do similar future profiles on some of the other more obscure MOTU characters that I also had back in the day, like Roboto and/or Snout Spout, yes? Until then, Yee-Hah and Nerdmaste, Pardners...!!!
Thanks! Your name is still blank on Patreon though. I've sent you some messages letting you know how to change it since if it's blank how you have it, it won't show up on the list when I export it. It think it needs to be just regular characters without slashes or apostrophes. Have you tried changing it on a computer instead of a phone? It should be a really easy fix on a computer. Check the last few messages I've sent you on Patreon and let me know if it works.
Another amazing review, say, do you think Transformers' Six-Gun is another Galactic Marshall? the Transformers cartoon gave him a distinctively Southern accent, and he definitely feels like he'd be a Western-type character, had he appeared more. Just imagine it, Rio, Bravestarr, and Six-Gun, upholding the law throughout the universe
0:30 I love how seamlessly the Ultimate Warrior blends into to the MotU lineup.
Like he was made for it!

Thanks Droz! I wonder was Rio the first MOTU moustache since the Man-At-Arms figure didn't have one?

I never saw him as a motu character, was too good to be one
Always liked Rio Blast. I imagined he was a space sheriff sent to aid He Man when things got crazy with not just Skeletor, but then Jordan and King Hsss showing up.
I liked Rio Blast when I was young but forgot about him since. Now seeing him again is very good and it's still a very cool toy today.

Rio Blast and Extendar were the last 2 MOTU figures I got as a kid. He was just so cool looking. Also loved the Metlar cameo on the video.

Great vid, Michael! Rio Blast was a figure I liked and never was bothered that he wasn't used on the show.
Loving these in depth videos. Especially on characters that I sometimes don't even remember. It's been a long long time.
Thanks Josh! Love putting the spotlight on the forgotten heroes...and the stinkers who made them heroes! Looking forward to doing many more.
I hate to admit this but I actually forgotten about this MOTU character. Thanks for jogging my memory Michael! Lol
Its good to see some reviews of the lesser known characters. Maybe we will see an Origins figure in a year or two
Col. Blast reminds me of the gunner from Spaceballs, almost blowing up the princess they want as a hostage. 😀 "I said *across* her nose, not *up* it!"
This video was a real blast to watch!

I personally love he man and bravestar so Rio blast was an awesome character for me.

Awesome review Michael 👍
Thanks Omar!

My all time favorite MOTU fig!!!!!!
Always love these spotlight episodes on individual action figures!👍😁. Awesome good Mike.😁😁😁
Thanks Bill! Have a great weekend!
Do the same good brother! 😁👍
"Power of the law" then suddenly **mayday mayday** 😂😂😂😂😂 so goood mercy 😂
Great review!
I'm a huge fan of Bravestarr as well. I always hoped they could have made Bravestarr in MOTU classics.
great video,i love your work
Awesome, keep up the great flashbacks! Did I miss seeing my name in the Pateron subscribers list?

Great video. Thanks
Hi Michael , nice Bio/History of Rio, after He-man he was my Favorite Master, Have a nice Week-end & Be safe
Picked up a vintage rio blast for 40$ complete at a thrift store...great find!
It was fun to hear your headcanon for Rio Blast.
I remember that Bravestarr episode, so sad in the end
"I never LOSE!!!" 😢
one of my fav toys as a kid
awesome review. I will admit Rio was never a fav of mine. dunno why I guess it's due to how different he looked compared to the other figures .
I had him, merman, and cyclone.

Cool idea!
The Classics Rio kinda has some Quigley Down Under vibes.
True!
One if my preferite...the chuck norris of motus
Nerdmasté! 👍👏👏
"Riolus Blast?" That's the best name they could come up with for him?? 🤷♂️
Rio Blast, portrayed by Robert Redford.
Sometimes I like outsider more, than some from the main charakters.
