As someone who's been a GM fan since I can remember, and an owner of many, I can promise GM that my family will never buy another GM vehicle specifically because of this disgusting new policy.
I don’t see Onstar as a necessity, people have phones nowadays, what’s the point? GM is gonna turn away customers with this idiotic plan! I can’t believe they want to force people to pay for services?!! 😂
Funny. Uconnect isn't free. The 3 year cost for Uconnect vs the 3 year cost on the Denali costs about $300-$400 more. The majority of Denali and Limited buyers are purchasing a Uconnect or OnStar subscription with WiFi.
None sense subscription for heating seats, if you let them they would find another subscriptions like rolling your windows, turning the AC, subscription to apply your breaks, sub for turning your wheel …….
I spent around $75K on a CT5 V and later found out that many of the the features that Cadillac used to enticed me into purchasing the vehicle really didn’t come with the vehicle unless I was willing to pay monthly fees in the form of a subscription to have the use of the feature. Over the period that I own the vehicle, I could end up paying an additional $6K to $8K that in years past came with the initial purchase price of the vehicle. And the worse part of it is the salesperson never informed me about it. Bill W, Parker, CO.
Navigation was a good free service now on my GMC 22 it is a subscription service! .. not impressed and there was no mention of this until I picked up the truck!
@@elche1976 NO! .. You assume every one has a cell phone & a data plan! In the past this was not the case navigation did not need cell phone($$) or a data plan ($$) therefore NO cost to new truck owners!

My 2021 GMC Sierra the Onstar doesn't have dependable reception where I live because they use the ATT network, since ATT is not in my area reception is spotty at best. My GM dealer had to install a booster just so they could connect to Onstar. So in areas like mine this Scam will even be a bigger rip off.
Why pay for OnStar? I have a 17 Malibu, I have Google Maps, and I rarely drive more than 50 miles from my house and rent a car if I go farther. If I get into an accident, tons of people will call 911 way before I do.
If this IS the case, will never buy another GM vehicle again. And I currently own a trailboss that I do not sub to any on star services. The prices are ridiculous for what they offer. GM is about to bury the company with decisions like these.
Is there any manufacturer that does not require subscription to use phone app based feature? Have 2023 Toyota and Chevy, so both require subscription after trial.
I know most the comments here are "No Thank you GM - goodbye". Question I have is how much do people actually use OnStar???? For 1500 dollars for 3 years - that comes down to 42 dollars a month to have the service. Would you get 42 dollars worth of service from OnStar????? I have OnStar buttons in my 2001 Monte Carlo, but for the 21 years I have had the car now, I never used the service. Most of my driving being retired now is just around town, and pretty much know where I am going. If I don't know where I am going, I also have a laptop PC I can bring up directions, make a printout and go on my merry way. How many active OnStar vehicles actually get stolen or in an accident per year???? Never see any stats on that usage, and is there any???? With OnStar Navigation Directions, we all have Cell Phones that do the same thing for directions. So OnStar is redundant. What else can OnStar do, unlock the car? I have spare keys in my pocket for that or a remote KeyBob. Does OnStar remote start new vehicles??? Might be nice in the winter time to warm up vehicles. It is Now going to be kind of a it is there if you need OnStar, but will you ever use it. I guess GM is forcing us to use it more. Nothing ever is free anymore, very sad. take care.
I just paid $150 for the basic package. It allows me to check tire pressure and diagnostics on the Chevy app as well as scheduling appointments and other basic things like that. I’m not pleased but I wasn’t shelling out more money for nonessential luxury nonsense.
Honestly, all these high prices is making me want to stay withy truck for a good while and why lie is a cash grab, dont try to sugar coat it... and people are dumb enough to pay 80k for a truck. That's why they keep raising prices, they let me try out wifi, xm, for 3 months, never used the wifi. And I don't want to spend more than 50k on a truck/car and still have to pay to get heated seats, manufacturers know humans will pay for everything

Once SuperCruise is actually available you’ll have to keep your BS onstar subscription to use it, so that’s another $2500 that can be saved.
