- This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Sahar sits on the Entrepreneurs Panel for the government and was voted one of the 10 most influential thinkers in the UK alongside Sir Tim Berners Lee, Sahar is also a fantastic speaker and we can’t wait for you to hear her.
Sahar Hashemi brought the coffee cafe culture to the UK in the 90′s with her chain Coffee Republic.
About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
I like how she gave us a history of her entrepreneurial journey instead of some abstract motivational speech
Kiki Worlali yes so true! Ted talk should be a ashame when they let people ramble about nothing. I could just read a book
TOTALLY
Exactly my thoughts
I am thinking about a new type of restaurants : eating-spots,
in eating-spots, food keeps changing, chefs also rotate,
this is opposed to current restaurants,
thanks to this rotation of food and chefs, eating-spots are way more powerful than restaurants,
along with that, there is an app,
people vote for the food that will be cooked in the next days,
menu is influenced by the live input of the people via an app
Lol you mean you love how she didn’t know what to do with her life so she just copied someone’s work in an entire different continent
Agree 100%. We forget that the school system that inculcates the culture of being an employee, was conceptualised by wealthy industrialists with government. Their aim was to create a never ending supply of workers, not entrepreneurs. This is the reason why we think entrepreneurs are special people - they are simply people who dared to want something different to what has been prescribed for them.
You are perfectly correct all the way
In New Zealand the high schools run a programme to encourage entrepreneurship. Teams of kids are mentored by volunteer business people to develop a product or service and develop it as a business - it's good learning for them. And a few of these actually turn into real businesses or products!
quite interesting . thanks.
She so honest and you can feel the hard work and hardships she experience.
How do you feel the hardship
Why does UA-cam not recommend this types of videos more often?
Because it recommends you the similar types of video you often watch.
Like the video and it gets boosted up for others to see. UA-cam's algorithm prioritizes what gets views and positive reviews.
they are commies thats why!
They may be pushing vids with more ads?
- Sound of reason vs sound of fear
- don't worry about not knowing
- no point having ideas on head, start putting it on paper
- business plan- what to do, how to do, how much and with whom and where
- 40 rejections
- entrepreneurs= obstacles course
- anyone can do it
- you become when you start
- there is an entrepreneur within, it's just about bringing it out
- lazy ppl cannot become entrepreneurs
- 5 steps: idea- find something you love, market research- do your business plan be organised, raise money, making it happen- bootstrapping, self belief, don't give up- there is no overnight success,
- find the star within you
- combine what you do with who you are
- difficult but happy
"Leap and the net will appear" wow that's now in my remarks reminders
Yes love that quote by John Burroughs.
Top Three: No one is determined in advance; Combine what you do, with who you are; Make it happen.
This is probably the most eye-opening TED talk I've watched. This lady was on point with everything she said. She's talking real life here and this is what I needed the most right now as I am also starting my own venture in entrepreneurship. :D
This needs to be shared!
Thanks for the good lecture.
Good for you
Hi! Its been 10 months? Hows it going?

Thanks for reminder! It’s easy to forget that doubt isn’t the voice of reason but rather the voice of fear, and that we need to press delete on it!

By far one of the best Tedx talks to me. I have been an entrepreneur since my early ages (with a good number of failures), but no one like Sahar has expressed this clear. Wow.
Awesome awesome awesome. Gave a kick start ❤🔥👌
I learn a lot. thank you for the knowledge.
I listened to Sahar speak at Holly Tucker’s Congregation of Inspiration event September 2019. She was absolutely amazing. Talked about a lot of the same things as here. A wonderful speaker and I took so much from her advice.
I like the simplicity and naturalness’ she applies to her success story . So inspiring
It's such well explained with real life experience. Really great lesson. Thanks mam.
This is literally the most motivational and real account of an entrepreneurial start up that I’ve heard! ❤️❤️
Excellent speech! Really appreciate her honesty. Thank you, Sahar, for sharing your experience.
Unbelievable talk! I started watching by accident, thought of giving up after 10 seconds, stuck with it little more and finally watched in awe till the end. Thank you Sahar Hashemi.
LADY is a CHAMP! No matter obstacles/challenges, GO FOR IT, MAKE IT FIT, BE A HIT!

Because she speaks from her heart.
omg. this is what I need right now, thank you so much
It was just incredible
This was directed to me. As a recent graduate, I have started my 9- 5 job. Growing up, I always spot gaps in the market or problems that need solutions where I go. I started walking around/ tagging my small notebook wherever I go and write my business ideas. I have so many of them and wish to start. The only challenge is lack of capital. I am now trying to save up from 9- 5 to to open implement one of my smallest business that I can afford.
One of the best Ted Talks! This opened my eyes and made me more determined to be an entrepreneur
Thanks a bunch! 💖
Amazing 🤗
I love her accent ❤
It makes me consume her brilliant points even more
Wow. Just what I needed.
I got the immense encouragement, support and confidence from this video. I will definitely salute for your "never give up" attitude. But whatever business you do, you will definitely have to do digital marketing for your business. It does not only save your money but also 7save your time and labour. You can have all your answers from this video. Please go through the link:
Thank you 👍🏻❤
It is so helpful and good speech. What she talks is so true and l like her honesty.
BE THANKFUL 🤗
I have seen this video 100’s of times. I am an entrepreneur who is struggling to get my Small business up and running. Every time I face a hurdle , I see this video and gain strength to keep moving forward. Ms. Sahar, I cannot explain in words how much this video has helped me and how much it means to me. Thank you 🙏🏻
What a talk, really a Ted X talk.
great Presentation mam, all the things u discussed i agreed with u 101%.
I needed to hear this
I love what she said about the business plan. I went through the exact thought process as her -- exactly the same. But in the end, I trusted myself because I knew the market, I like what I do, and I just answered one question at a time. Business plans can be just a plain A4 paper with the ugliest handwritings & drawings... But it cements your ideas and you can visualise your goal. I'm so happy to watch this video because it's 100% true, no BS.
Are u an entrepreneur?
I currently hate my "career" if you can call it that. I feel like I deserve so much more, this was so inspirational. Change is definitely uncomfortable but also necessary ... Thanks for this.
Thank you Sahar Hashemi.
Entrepreneurship is LOVE.
Amazing!
What an inspiring talk, straight to the point and insightful as well. Indeed entrepreneurship is a journey you discover once you start the first step, "implementing the idea".
Wow she is a bit different when it comes to motivating people. She combined her personal story and her learnings along the way.
Generally I m very impatient when it comes to going through the full length in this type of videos but I was very patient with this lady. Thank u very much. U just inspired me n lots of people
That was so inspiring! I love your honesty and passion about that. Thank you for sharing so encouraging experience and lessons taken from it.
Read Anyone Can Do It more than a decade ago, very inspirational on her journey with her brother on starting Coffee Republic.
She's amazing🤩
Shared the same experience. 💪
This is by far the best vid on YT.
A good inviting story...
Wow! Powerful delivery! Explicit,Trialed and Tested!
Agreed!
every morning İ wale up, İ am listening this video ! 0o0
