For grinding, the ingredients are, Coriander seeds, Fenugreek(Vendhayam), dry red chillies, chenna daal, (kadalai paruppu). For sauté, Urad dall (Ulathamb paruppu), chenna daal, peanuts, curry leaves, dry red chillies. white stuff is salt.
theseare ripe tamarind, almost dry, not fresh. the fresh tamarind does not have a hard skin/shell like these, & the can be broken like a radish & also they have no seeds or fiber. May be these are mature tamarind
It does look very good! It makes me wish I was there eating!!! I think it is so awesome how everyone works together to make the meals ... and your outside close to nature ....you are truly blessed and thank you for sharing these videos with us! My wife and daughters actually look forward to the next video to see!

Like others, I'd like to see what ingredients you are using - any language, we can always use Google translate. Excellent video, please keep posting. Many thanks from the UK ;-)
Very nice video of beautiful village life, outdoor cooking and eating healthy food; loved all of it! Just little something I would like to add, cooking Tamarind in aluminum pots and eating it in aluminum plates, these people getting a lot of aluminum in their body how come they do not have Alzheimer? As here in U.S they say Alzheimer is due to aluminum deposit in the brain! These people looks the healthiest ever to me. Thanks for uploading great videos!
Ymmmm.....Fresh made Tamarind Rice,.....I get it, the rice(basmati?) is cooked separately from the sauce and served on a natural banana leaf and eatened with your hands! Ymmm....thumbs up from a drooling West Indian from Mexico! :)
Looks good, but wish you name the ingredients, it's hard to see what all of them are. Also using metal utensils with aluminium pots is very bad for your health.
Ive been watching your videos for months now! love them! i love the culture and WISH i could try the foods myself! Thank you for the videos. have you thought about putting up a website with the recipes? I would love to try too cook some of the dishes that ive seen! Thank you again!
It looks delicious!!!... but I noticed that you prepared like a gallon of it only to use a couple of spoonfuls on the rice!!! .. and here I was thinking you were going to use all of it and imagining the taste, a couple of spoonfuls is just a little flavor, perfect.. I might try this recipe at home if I can get my hands on the ingredients!!! New subscriber!!!
Supanallah I love Tamarind and I have used it to make sweets, Now I have this delightful recipe to make a very Healhty and Most delicious meal. Thank You so much for the reipe Please keep showing these wonderful ladies and the area they live in South India is so dreamy every thing fresh!
winnie chilton If you manage to get your hands on any of this fruit, plant the seeds in some soil, water them and they will grow. Be sure that you have enough space as the tree grows very huge! I wish you were near- I planted 9 seeds just to see if they would grow and All grew. I'm actually giving them away. Best regards...
winnie chilton If u hv space around ur residence, even u cud hv one. It is a tree dats lives long. Sow da seeds in a small plastic bag, keep da soil moist until it germinates; transplant say after 8 to 10 wks after it germinates. Keep watering; protect da seedling fm domestic animals; you shud be reaping fruits say in abt 4 yrs or so. Its summer crop. Allow da fruits to dry in da tree itself.
I'm guessing this is a very flavorful dish even for an indian village (or wherever you are) are these guys vegetarians by choice? Or they just not have animals. I am pescatarian and I highly respect vegetarian peoples. They're very healthy and spiritual.
These people know that eating animal is bad for human health. They believe that when animal is being slaughtered all the bad hormones rush bad emotions such as anger, hate, fear and revenge. These bad hormones and emotions stay in the dead animal’s meat and, when we consume the animal’s meat we get sick with disease like cancer. Plants on the other hand gives away its fruits, vegetables and herbs for us to consume with such love and gratitude so we stay healthy.
Ava Miller It very much tastes like a raisin, but has some sourness to it! Strong but delicious, I hope you get to try it! If you can't find it fresh you might be able to find it in a paste form being sold in jars. :)
That was the most creative weaving I have ever seen. God gives us all the right stuff if we use it properly we succeed. I would love to try some tamarind. Good job
We would pick tamarind off the trees or ground in Puerto Rico, peal and eat them just like that, i remember them tasting tangy. At home we would soak them in water with some sugar for summer drinks, very refreshing. It contains many health benefits.
We just started to get the sweet and the sour whole tamarinds where I live. They kind of look like cat turds, but they taste Amazing. I cant stop eating them...though I do get some strange looks.
