Thanks for not spoiling the result in the title. Really impressive shooting from both sides.
Useless linesman... the keeper was way over the line for the last kick.
@@_trust9994 which one? you got a time stamp?

The dude at 8:38 is a menace to society for going the same way 😂
Dude is German. Ice in his veins
He also faked a bit right with his stride and body, it seemed, before pulling it left, a neat trick. High level PK man.
Mbappe went the same way in 3 PKs in a world cup final. Insane.
Still both teams are better than Spain at the world cup😂
I admire these young men that took these PKs as I would never take that risk. Since all shots were on frame, there is no shame in any stop made by excellent goalkeeping.
Time to get outside of your comfort zone. That’s a weak mentality.
@@djp3525 Or he's a terrible shooter, in which case he's smart, doing the right thing for his team. Let shooters like me try it.
@@DexterHaven you realize everyone on the field has to eventually shoot it...?
@@lavs8696 Can you link us to a game in which "everyone" had to shoot, as you claim, dummy?

Indiana's keeper leans the way he's going to dive every single time 😭
both teams hitting better pens than WC teams
@@MrJimShorts literally has nothing to do with op...
@@goatstatusj5112 yes it does lmao wtf. At this level it takes a really good keeper to get saves. Plus the pressure is PHENOMENALLY less then a WC PK for the equivalent of a win or go home
Different stage, different game
@@jpcab94 these keepers are max 6'3 lol in the wc the average height for a keeper is like 6'5
No 😂
3:21 that was a sick save.
Only one where I thought keep left the line early. Then again, looked lateral. Unreal nonetheless to get the hand up. Last two Syracuse shots were unstoppable😮
Yes, because the ball was going so damn fast, and yet with one hand he was able to redirect it high enough.
They need Scott Sterling. The man! The myth! The legend!
😂😂
My Brazilian friend told me what taking PKS was like for him once. Had no plan, no strategy, couldn't feel his feet and the goal looks about 1 foot x 2 foot. Made it. 😆🤣
Not gonna lie I was expecting scott sterling to step up between the posts there for a second

So exciting to watch this live. I work 4 miles from the complex. Left work at 5:00 got to the finals right before kickoff, parking & waiting in line for a ticket. Plus I got to watch the shootout from behind the goal🎉🎉🎉
Small break before the WC semi-finals, very cool to watch when you are not a fan of either team...
I congratulate the winners and feel sorry for the losers ;)
What a game. Props to both teams! This is why I will always love college futbol⚽

Always cool when the final is action packed!
This makes me miss playing Soccer SO MUCH!! I played Goalie or midfield all my life up until my Senior Year of High School where I switched to the Striker for our team and ended up scoring 17 Goals and put our team in the playoffs. And in the third round of the playoffs we ended up in extra time and eventually a Shootout. I scored the first goal in the shootout and also convinced the coach to let me be the keeper for the shootout. He had Coached us same group of kids for like 8 years at that point. We had 9 Seniors Starting for that team and we had played together forever. Only Juniors were the Coach’s Son and the kid we had at Goalie. Anyways since he had coached me for ever and knew I was unusually good at stopping PKs throughout the years & our starter struggled at them, he was 0fer that year. He was so bad that I actually sometime during the season looked up whether any player on the field could step in at goalie for a PK and they can!! So he let me put on my gloves and step in for Ethan aka Chooch. I saved the 1st and 3rd and dude missed high the 4th and we ended up winning! After the game the coach admitted he didn’t realize that was an option and he would’ve had me step in during regular games for PKs if I was currently on the pitch. Was prob the funnest season ever! We made it to the State Finals but unfortunately lost 3-1 with me scoring our only goal on header off a corner sent in by Cody.
seems like you could have done with more players at your skill level 🤣
@@georgepackman8045 I was the second best player on out team. Our Center Attacking Midfielder, Drew, was definitely our best player

Did no one notice the keeper off his line in the last penalty miss from IU
He was behind line which is also ok
I was thinking the same at first , but when I go back it’s very hard to tell the exact moment he goes off the line. It looks like it was at the same time he kicked it or slightly after. I could see why they didn’t call it, if this was a VAR decision there is the chance of a re-kick.
@@edwinrivas18 he's got a foot planted well off his line at point of impact if you go frame by frame.

Scott Sterling!
Question: If the ball deflects back to the kicker, can he kick it a second time?
In a penalty shootout, no. During the game, yes.
In a penalty shootout, your only allowed to kick the ball once
During a game, you can rebound it if the ball comes to you
Is it safe to say that Syracuse are college association football world champions? 🤔
Why did I think this was a Scott sterling video
Thanks to the FIFA world cup for sponsoring this once-in-four-years event of "America acknowledges the existence of a game that means foot-ball"

Just think if the dome was filled that place fell over
10:50 you can pause it and see the goalie goes early, they should have looked at it that really sucks for Indiana
IU's goalkeeper is so bad lol, told the whole Syracuse team where he was going before the kick every single time. Honestly have no idea how Syracuse didn't score on all their attempts because he was getting read like a book.

okay hold up -- the syracruse goalkeeper did not have his feet on the line for that last penalty. Why was it not recalled?

You can see at 10:49 the goalie comes off his line before the kick. Should have been a re-do.

@@edwinrojas5496 yeah. i'm surprised the refs missed it. so i guess they do zero video review in college? the tech should be there to do a basic review in the biggest moments of the entire D1 season, imo.
When I saw I was like “wasn’t that illegal?”
Most keepers do it, the rule is almost never enforced. If the keeper is more than a yard off his line then it'll get called, but a few inches like that won't
@@JoshStern23 it was more than a few inches. would be called in a pro match. so should do it in such a tight situation in a huge game. basically the biggest moment in the top college game of the year. it deserves the rules to be followed to a T.

Most of these PK kickers gave away which way they were going from the moment they stood behind the ball. I don’t know how these GKs didn’t save more shots
Easier said than done Lad!
@@alxdgr8806 agreed, but with the direction of the shot pretty much given away by the kickers' placements relative to the ball, you would think they would at least dive in the correct direction lol

9:04 Too late, you said it...
Red 💩 sophomore ;)
Why does most the IU players look like DJ Qualls?
Tha Cuse … congrats.
Does this affect Scott sterling legacy ?
The final PK miss from Indiana was such a horrible shot. When kickers shoot a pen like that, I've never understood what they're going for. There's no pace, placement, or deception behind a kick like that. It's almost like they're just hoping the keeper doesn't dive that way.
Look at Messi at the WC. There were a lot of horrible shots but he scored. It is a lot about tendency and faking out the keeper and it looks really bad when you miss one of these
@@blindsidehittv242 That's what I meant by deception. There was not even that behind this shot and if you noticed a lot of the missed shots in this WC, most of them were shot the exact same way. If you notice, Messi will have his eyes on the keeper the whole time and at the last moment kick it the opposite direction that he leans. All these other kickers who missed such as the Indiana kicker, just have their head down on the ball and choose a side. And they kick it at the exact dive height of the keeper. Like I said, it's like they're just crossing their fingers the keeper dives the wrong way.
How dod we build a strong US feeder team, if most college level talent are recruited from foriegn countries. Maybe they bring up the competitive level? May they block spots where US talent could grow? Unsure? Great shooting either way.
