I’d like to see this series keep going. It’s not only a nice insight at the history of Legends but a history of Robo’s collection too.

For real, I did not knew that much of Toy Biz when I met the Marvel figures, Robo definitely could make some kind of "History of Marvel Legends" video, starting with Toy Biz, and it would be awesome!

I absolutely LOVE this style of video. As a younger collector it’s like a neat random history lesson from uncle Robo. I hope we get more of this!

Thank you for making me feel better about also having tubs full of figures, all loose and rubbing against each other, when it would have been financially smarter to sell them once I felt they were not worthy of the display shelves anymore.

I'm at that crossroads right now. Sell off the stuff I have tubbed up or just keep hording it all because someday I met regret selling it.

Yeah, exactly. Like that Green Goblin, I'm perfectly happy with the newer Hasbro versions but when I pulled that out of the tub it was like....oh, wait, this isn't near as bad as I thought...

Man, I see a lot of memories in that tub. I worked at Toys R Us from the start of Toy Biz Marvel Legends till that first Hasbro wave. When I went back to school I gave most of them away so that I'd have fewer boxes to move. I didn't get back into collecting until I came across Fwoosh and Toy Galaxy on UA-cam in 2019.

Nice segment. It’s always fun to go through bins, organize and reminisce. That Buzzing Beetle is a great figure. That is one I can’t let go. My Toybiz Doombots & Giant Man BAF will remain in my display. Hulk Classics Mecha Hulk is my grail.

  • @prophet924
    @prophet924 6 місяців тому +1

Oh yeah I like to reminisce. It’s also why I haven’t sold off much. It’s also why my space is full-ish. I’ve always been a collector but the idea of collecting started when I was 10-11. I just wish when I was 19 I would have pulled my toys out of my parents house where my little siblings destroyed and my mom sold off. That was mostly Joes and Transformers along with odds and ends: MoTU, Crystar, some Star Wars. So started collecting again in mid to late 20s. I did purge my 90s Marvel Toybiz stuff by giving to boys homes and day cares. Spider-Man classics and Marvel Legends took their spot in my heart. I remember dreading the Hasbro take over. They made 3 3/4” stuff in my mind. They can’t do Legends. They almost proved that then Return of Marvel Legends came along with Bucky Cap. They started to figure it out. Now it’s Hasbro, NECA, Four Horsemen, and other beloved toy makers like Fwoosh and Sperotoys. I don’t know how much longer I have but I’m enjoying this ride!

I'm a Doc Sampson fan too. When I was pretty young I remember seeing him in a Hulk comic for the first time and I thought it was just hilarious and really brilliant that Hulk had this gamma powered shrink that, if need be, would just start throwing down when words failed. Great character!
    Also, this video was great!

It's always fun to see collectors dig into their older stuff. It kind of feels like a trip down memory lane that both the creator and the viewers can share in together. Plenty of stuff might be things that I don't recognize, but I still relate to the fondness that the creator feels for these ol' pieces of plastic.

LOVE armored Beetle! I think I still have mine as well somewhere. I remember when it first appeared in the comic and I was like "DANG, that looks menacing". I try to sell figures to make room/money back, but like you every figure has a special place in my brain so letting them go can be difficult. I'm finding many have a shelf life of around 10 or so years before I'm ready to let them go. What I really need to do is just donate a bunch to give less fortunate collectors a chance to get their hands on them.

  • @razumtazum3246
    @razumtazum3246 6 місяців тому +1

I agree with you in that I too don't like to get rid of figures. Did that once and have regretted ever since, so never will again. But I do at least wrap them up individually in protective bubble wrap and put their accessories in ziplocs to keep them nice when they're in storage instead of just dumping them willy-nilly into a container like you do. But hey-to each their own! If you're just keeping them around to use as spare parts anyway, why not?

Would happily watch a bunch of these videos. As someone who only just started collecting, I have no attachment to lines, completionism, or anything. I pick what I want from wherever I can find it, and I have both of those Toy Biz Sasquatches, because I found the Hasbro one to be too tame, and it looked short. Sure, the old one is lanky, but you can pose him to broaden him out, and that also hides the ball joints on the hips.

I started collecting back in 2001, when I got into Transformers. Star Wars figures joined 'em soon after. I still own those outdated toys, despite Hasbro putting out better representations I've since bought; just like you, they live in large plastic containers, scratching up against one another, with their parts 'n pieces somewhere in the tub.
In the last couple of years, I've started collecting a few DC Multiverse, Marvel Legends, Mortal Kombat, Power Rangers Lightning Collection, and some TMNT from Neca/BST AXN/Mattel. Was never really into Marvel (outside of Spiderman) nor DC (outside of Batman and Teen Titans), so seeing someone else keeping their older stuff just as I do.. with similar reasoning to boot, is really encouraging.
I look forward to watching more videos of these, as I get to learn about figures I've never seen before!!
    Awesome work!

This was a fun video. Looking forward to part 2. Toybiz marvel legends will always hold a special place in my life. That's where my action figure collection started. They are what he-man or transformers are to an older generation. The good ole days of being a kid. It all started with the series 1 iron man. I always wanted a good iron man figure. Then i saw it back in 2002 hanging from a peg at a toysrus. I knew i had to have it! I still have it with a broken arm. I still think it's a good comic iron man figure. I'm never getting rid of that one. I always wanted that juggernaut, but i never even saw it in stores at the time. I did finally get it still sealed many years later. That was probably my first holy grail as a kid. I love the removable helmet, which you can't do on the newer hasbro legends or select.

    Wonderful document, Robo!
You say the same reason for which I keep old figures or toys: they are a time map of my life.
Another thing of the vid hit me hard: Doc Samson. My very first comics were two handbooks with several stories of the Hulk (La Masa in spanish) and one was the one that you said. That look with the flash in the chest a la Gordon and the green long hair blew my mind.
Congratulations for your channel, I enjoy it very very much 🎉

You forgot what you have in the tubs. I went in a few months ago looking for something and found the fantaticar and still can't remember when I bought it and from where.
Please do more Tales from the Tubs.

6:26 You're talking about The Incredible Hulk No314 "Call Of The Desert" by John Byrne.
I instantly knew which story you were talking about because it was featured in the 1987 "Marvel Super-heroes Omnibus" published by Marvel UK. I know that annual like the back of my hand, beacause it was one of the few comics I had as a kid, and it was my first introduction to Iron Man, Psylocke, Doc Sampson, and all of Hulk's rogue's gallery!
It also included The Amazing Spider-man No282 "The Fury of X-Factor", Iron Man No217 "Metamorphosis Oddity", Captain America No291 "To Tame A Tumbler", and The Uncanny X-Men No213 "Psylocke".

Stop playing with your Thing! Love the little in the middle but not much back lol! I had that juggernaut and really liked him for his age. He came with like a broken gate wall hanging dio that I somehow managed to get him to grab each side of the bendable gate and with one foot on the dio and his other leg lifted like stepping like he was bursting through the gate and it would hang on the wall with him. Came out nice! The Gambit and dio I had was my fav though it was a Sentinel hand and he would lay in it perfect lol! Also the Gambit had a really good fabric coat for the time as well.
I also had sabertooth and thought he was good back then with there being few other sabertooth figures to compare to at the time i had him.
This was fun though! I saw a few figures I used to have and miss lol! Thanks Robo!

SO many memories, just going thru YOUR Stuff! LOL
I was just in the backroom, looking over what I have to move, soon, while dinner cooks, and...ugh. It's gonna be a LOT of trips back and forth. That's not counting the spare bedroom, where I have my display shelves set up. I'm using up more boxes from work than I planned and running out ASAFP.
That Colossus was the first ML that broke out of the package on me. His right shoulder snapped clean off pulling the torso out of the vacuformed plastic tray. That White Sasquatch is either Snowbird, when she rips Walter's heart out, or Walter/Wanda in Narya's body OR Heather from Exiles. and only recently have I realized you can slot in the 5poa Shuri from the WF Sunbird as Heather. Same purple jumpsuit, hairstyle is close enough to work. Too bad I already customed her ages ago.
CustomCons take me back, as well. I think RTM might still be active, but they are hard to find? Rob & Bobbi basically killed the forum when they switched from open posting to registered comments. Half the fun was screwy threads that everyone commenting could use fake names on to add to the joke. or make extended comments so as not to click back and forth on the threads.

Please do as many more as you can!

I like the sculpt of the first Hasbro wendigo it looks like it did when he first came out, also I think the double juggernaut reminded me of how he looked in the xforce issues pretty sure he had massive long arms.
