  • In this video, Im going to replace my 2023 BMW S1000RR's OEM wheel bearings with World Wide Bearing's Ceramic Bearings. This is a popular installation for racers because the bearings are known for their quicker elapsed times and higher MPH’s, low friction, 60% less rotating weight etc.
    If you're looking to install ceramic bearings on your motorcycle, then this video is for you! I'll go over the installation procedure step-by-step and show you everything you need to do from start to finish to have these bearings in your wheels in no time!

    For fronts: It’s because of brakes were installed after the new bearings

    I just did my front wheel and its hardly spinning for 10 seconds. Is that due to me installing dust covers? Or am i messing up somewhere else the bearings spun freely when I installed.

      Ok so I removed my dust covers and now it spins like a yo-yo. Damn that's a big difference.

    I’m still confused, what’s the point of changing the bearings? It helps with breaking?

    • @stevezeeTee
      @stevezeeTee 9 місяців тому +3

      They spin more easily and help you accelerate faster. and since they’re ceramic, they aren’t a metal which expands a lot when they get hot so they continue to spin freely

    • @JustinMcTavish14
      @JustinMcTavish14 9 місяців тому +1

      Just to be clear the second part of that question no it will not help with braking, it removes friction from the bearing so they spin freely that will inherently make your brakes work harder to stop you because you no longer have the bearing friction slowing you down, however the difference would probably be small enough you wouldn’t notice the difference in braking force

    • @JustinMcTavish14
      @JustinMcTavish14 9 місяців тому +2

      tiger2q was also right your removing bearing friction so your bike will have an easier time accelerating, it will also keep heat down while your bearing spinning which should make them last longer, also you should notice your fuel economy go up if your driving in a reserved manner due to less friction for your engine to push you

      It's not a good idea to leave them of. Road grime and all kind of dirt will find its way in a destroy stuff. Doesn't matter if the bearing is ceramic, they are not indestructable.

      @N31LE diggin the vids, but your killing me MC hammer. Lol. And no seals for less resistance is a concept ive never heard of. You just taught us that with ceramics it's possible to balance your wheels on the bike without dust seals, which sadly means your spin time test is void now. Really think you should put your seals back in and retest. And those fancy new bearings will thank you. 🤙

    Also pretty sure you shouldn’t be at 92ft/p in the rear with ceramic . Should be about half that number

    • @N31LE
      @N31LE  8 місяців тому +1

      Doesn’t matter if you’re ceramic or not. The manual states the rear axle torque is 92 ft/lbs.

      @@MadMaxOn2 if you can find that information, I’d be more than happy to change what I said. But as for now I believe you’re mistaken, there’s no way they’re going to say to say to torque your motorcycle axle to half the value of an OEM torque spec because of a change to ceramic bearings lol.

      @N31LE  9 місяців тому +1

      I hear you. But that’s how you install bearings, so I’m not sure how much “care” you wanted me to use there. You should see how a motorcycle shop puts em in 🤣🤣

    • @Vindaloobeast
      @Vindaloobeast 9 місяців тому +1

      @@N31LE I get it but a better way is to use a threaded bar with a washer pack and nut on the opposite side of wheel then you can drop the bearing into its cup and use washers and a nut bearing side to tighten down until seated. This way puts even pressure across inner and outer race and potentially stops damage. Of course proper bearing install/removal kits are available but basically do the same.
