In today's video, we review the HBX 3100A, possibly the COOLEST small-scale RC SCT we've EVER seen! But, is it BETTER than the Arrma Mojave Grom for less? let's find out!

Ok, now that thing is cute. It rips too. That thing is a winner. It's like a mini UDR.
It really does look like a mini UDR. That was the first thing I noticed.
Literally the only isse with any hbx is, the damn battery tray size. But I like that it comes with proper diffs out of the box
Yep, they do make very small battery trays, you're spot on there.
Oddly enough, this was released in the USA but not in China! The chinese version just came out a few days ago with new color and it seems with longer rear shocks.
That is kind of odd for an HBX to be released in the USA first. But, in the same token, I pre ordered my Mojave Grom and it still hasn't arrived, but I saw a UA-camr from Hong Kong reviewing his already. I guess different markets just have different releases and sometimes it's hard to predict.
@@Rek_Rc Yes, weird global strategy. The HBX 2997A too is not available outside the USA.

I have both the HBX Violent and the Arrma Mojave Grom and although I love Arrma it would be nice if they would have come out with a proper “Trophy Truck” with a solid rear axle and independent front suspension rather than just make another all independent double wishbone suspension platform that just about every RC company makes tons of. I purchased the HBX Violent for that reason alone, it has a “Trophy Truck” platform to it and it actually handles great. I love that little beast. I’m thinking of buying another one. I also just wanted to add that the HBX actually comes with a rear “Swaybar” too.👍👍💯💯🙂

@@RCRoads ok, let’s not get crazy or retarded here “ Rek_RC” is a great channel, it really is but there are channels that have been dedicated to “Trophy Trucks” and “Short Course Trucks” for over a decade now on YT reviewing and custom building Trophy & Short Course & Desert with custom roll cages all fabricated from scratch. Your comment is like a slap in the face to all of them. Don’t get me wrong I love “Rek_RC” and I love the content that’s on the channel but to go way off the end and say “He’s the king of Short Course Trucks” (which you actually typed “Tucks”) is a extremely far stretch. Look, I will always go to his channel to find out his opinions on the latest RC’s that came out. But if I want a few pointers on a chassis, roll cage, frame that I just welded up the “Trophy Truck/Short Course/Desert Truck” channels are the ones I’m going to be looking at.🤷🏻♂️👍💯
@@peteroman4297 I understand. Your a hard core RC guy and are dedicated to the craft. I was just complementing a friend and providing encouragement. Honestly I run my cars for pleasure and don't worry so much about the details. I'm just an old man enjoying my toy RC's. Rek RC my not be the king but he has my respect and I really enjoy watching his videos. He has always been into the short course RC's and does a great job with them. I totally understand that some people are really into the hobby and get turned off by some of the lame comments. I'll try to not be so loose with my comments in the future but honestly it's not like were working for NASA or launching rockets.

As a subscriber and follower, as well as owning both, I assure you they are not in the same league, just flip the shell over and show the viewers the inside of the shell. The new V2 Violent vs Arrma Mojave video shows that a brushed motor can still out perform a brushless motor.
I promise, in the head to head, we're going one on one,, blow for blow, no holds barred with both trucks, the good, the bad, and the ugly. They aren't in the same league really, but they are the most comparable small scale short course trucks I can think of.

This little truck is great for the money, just a few cons compared to the Mojave Grom. Small battery tray, locked rear axle, parts are available but you gotta wait, and the steering will wear after some use, causing it to wander under acceleration. Mine is still in pieces because of that. I need to shim the posts where the steering bulkhead pivots to tighten it up.
I did consider a different servo for mine. So far it's been fine, but I was thinking a different servo could be good.
@@Rek_Rc Honestly I haven't had any issues with my servo, but I've seen a couple guys add a gyro to theirs and it makes the truck much more stable at speed with those locked axles.
@@scaleworksRC the locked rear does make a hard take off a bit wobbly
sure looks better to me, but i had a dromida brushless truck a long time ago, getting parts for one offs is a nighmare as always just buy the stampede, and please test the bl2s stampede bigfoot, you will LOVE it, as a decades long rc enthusiast simple is always best
I intend to do the entire BL-2S line eventually
That is a cool SCT. Definitely got my attention. I like it better than the Grom SCT. Maybe because of the scale look and proformance
I've really been enjoying this truck. It looks great, drives well, it's durable. It's just plain good
I would gladly swap my about to be born second son for one of these. I am struggling to find a seller in the UK for these.. Absolutely in love with this since I saw my first video of it about a month or so ago..

@@Rek_Rc To be clear, It's probably not worth my first born, I've grown pretty fond of him, and he has a love of RC too, but this next one coming? Pfffft.. I can cuddle a sct too.. and they don't need nappy changes..
Thanks for the review on the 3100a. I have been eyeballing it for a while. Its 134.00 with applied coupon on Amazon. Anazon also has replacement bodies i think with lights for only $20. Guess i am going to have to pull the trigger and get one.
I'll just say this, I really enjoy the truck. If you think you would as well, the price is good right now and worth finding out.

I saw this truck awhile back and didn't go for it,, because it reminded me of the wltoys short course... Can't wait to see the comparison between that and the mojave grom...tho the 3100a is way faster... I mean, it is brushless.
My mojave grom just got here today at 2pm... And I already know before I open it ... IM GOING BRUSHLESS.
Ironically 35 on 2s is where I'm shooting for my setup. on 3s it should do 55 +/-
That's the plan so far... I might lighten up.. buuuuuut I doubt it 🤣😂
That WLtoys SCT is junk to be honest. This one is substantially better. I'll be filming the Mojave Grom video, then a head to head this week.

I agree, that's why I passed on it. But recently have been hearing really good feedback on it...
I'm looking for suggestions for upgraded shocks for this thing. I love mine but I know some better shocks would make it better so I'm open to any suggestions. Also, you can easily put an angry snail 3s in it, I do it all the time and it doesn't budge and you don't need to move anything, I haven't even removed the foam insert!
it cost more than the grom... This a little different, its a desert truck, solid in the rear, cool little truck tho

Wait how is the top sped in this video 35mph and the other video (from comparison) is 24mph?! I’m confused.
In this video I ran it on 3s, on the comparison, I ran it on its stock battery to show what the trucks can do with only what they come with from the box

I do not like my 3100a. I was not impressed with it. I have a few videos on it.
It might now be for everyone, I really like it, but that doesn't mean everyone will. I'll check out your video
@Rek_Rc maybe I got one if the first. The range is horrible. Snapped rear axel withl second battery . All it did was want to spin around. I have a few SC trucks an this was a waste of money. In my opinion
It's not at all similar to the Grom. The chassis, the body, the diffs, the battery tray are superior to the HBX.
Of course it isn't the same, but it's still similar in price, has more realistic suspension, it's brushless, and probably a little faster. They are totally different, but absolutely comparable, which is why I'll be doing a direct head to head video of the two after the Mojave Grom review which will be finished in the next couple of days.
So its just another Chinese model that 6 different brands release by charging the number since they rarely name them. Definitely not in the same class as arrma.

Or sometimes I just enjoy an RC so much for what it is that I don't pick meaningless flaws just to come up with useless talking points just to make a video longer for more watch time, so I chose to just be positive. If you call that an ad, fine. But then go watch me rip into the team Associated SR7 or see how I don't recommend rlarrlo AK-917 as an RTR, even though they sent me the carbon fiber version for free. Let me know if you like those "ads".
